This place has reopened for several months now. It's no longer sit down, instead it's a grab to go. They sell frozen dumplings, pot stickers, many other frozen goods, but I also come here for their baked goods. They're really fresh and delicious and price is very reasonable. Service have always been excellent and the quality is very high. I highly recommend and I think, they have one of the best pot stickers in Oakland. Very fresh too. Cheers!

Prices seemed a bit high for frozen dim sum but you get what you pay for here. Definitely higher quality than the frozen stuff at supermarkets. The Shanghai bun was juicy and on par with some actual restaurants. Great to have in your freezer for those random dim sum cravings at home. The cake was moist and slightly sweet, similar to uncle tetsu's Japanese cheesecakes. Minus a star for not having cooking instructions.

This places has re-opened as R Noodles & BAKERY. They are selling fresh pasta and fresh baked goods. Their egg custard tart is the bomb! I snagged the last two tarts today and they are delicious. I also picked up some cookies - pistachio, something I have never had. They now sell fresh pasta and Shanghainese or Cantonese "tamales". I also spotted a lot of handmade frozen dim sum type dumplings - xiao mai, jiaozi, and xiaolong bao - not the mass produced brands. This is a welcome addition to Oakland Chinatown. The staff are very friendly and happy to answer questions about their products. They told me they only open back up last week. The place is very clean and well lit. I'm very excited about their new concept.

Discovered this place randomly from the delicious fresh baked bread smell coming out the door. A very no nonsense place selling bread, cookies and cakes. Service prompt and friendly.

    Still open for takeout!

Food:7/10 Wait time: 10 minutes to get food for takeout Portion size: medium The place we normally go to for Guilin noodles was closed so we decided to try this place out. They have other options too which is a nice variety. I think next time I might try the beef stew noodle soup. Anyways we got two orders of the Guilin noodles and the cold fungus appetizer. It was nice because since we got it to go we got to adjust our own saltiness with the sauce and they also gave us a lot of soup for each order. It was delicious. It comes with two different types of meat, fresh garlic and green veggies, tiny green pickled veggies, half an egg, and peanuts. Make sure you only put a little soup at a time because the noodles absorb it pretty quickly (but I'm also a slow eater too so that doesn't help). The appetizer was good. I could make that myself but also trying to support local businesses! But yeah its fungus with sesame seeds in a vinegar spicy sauce. It's good a refreshing.

pigs feet - don't get this

For the love of all that is holy, please do not get the pigs feet rice combo. As someone who loves braised dishes and is obsessed with collagen, I was very upset to be served two small pieces of tough, rubbery meat with cucumbers and peanuts. I was so hungry afterwards. My SO got the snail noodles (interesting translation), and felt that it was fine but nowhere near the quality he would expect from a restaurant specializing in the dish. Not being familiar with it, I personally thought it tasted very good after adding vinegar. Given the few stellar options in Oakland Chinatown, I think it is is still worth a try. Maybe the beef stew would have been a better choice over the pigs feet.

This location reopened as a bakery (now called R' Noodles and Bakery). They sell fresh baked goods, frozen baos, frozen dim sum items, joong (in Cantonese) and cakes. Currently, they have pastries and mousse cake slices for $1 each. They have a wide variety of mousse cake flavors, such as chocolate, chocolate banana, strawberry, taro, pandan coconut, coffee, tiramisu, chestnut, mango, black forest, raspberry, orange, and lemon. The cakes are light and not too sweet. I've tried almost all the flavors and, so far, chocolate and pandan coconut are my favorite!

They reopened as a bakery with a wide range of pastries, tarts, and cakes. They also have a lot of frozen baos and dumplings to go. I stopped by to grab a birthday cake for my mom. They had one whole chocolate mousse cake on display, and several other cakes by the slice (coffee, pandan coconut, mango). I asked if I could get a whole pandan coconut cake with some birthday decorative topping on it and it was ready for me in 20 minutes! It was such a fluffy, light, and delicious cake. My mom gave it the ultimate dessert compliment - "really good, not too sweet."

We ordered the Liuzhou style escargots (snail) rice noodles and braised beef noodle soup (among the most popular choices). Overall, decent noodles with generous toppings. The braised beef is soft and tasty, and the soup that goes with it tastes delicious as well. Ordered through Doordash and the packaging is good. Noodles and the soup are separated.

Wonderful restaurant. Although they have a bakery portion, they still serve noodle dishes. As a noodle fiend, I love their river snail noodles. How to describe it? Don't let the name deter you. It's like a melody of different contrasting textures and flavors, from the sour bamboo to the condiments and hearty broth, and as a whole, bursting full of flavor. It's a perfect combo with their soy milk. Yum! The restaurant staff always are so friendly too.

    As delicious as it looks!

This time, we ordered a few dishes to try - the classic sesame paste noodles, Shan Dong chicken, the fried rice with shrimp, and the hot spicy eggplant. Since we did order delivery on a busy Saturday night, it took a little over an hour for our food to arrive. The food was expertly packed and we were given plenty of utensils and napkins. The sesame paste noodles are one of my favorite dishes here, there's a balance of sweet and salty offered in the creamy sesame paste sauce that's so addicting. I've always been a big fan of the hand-pulled noodles which are thick, bouncy and chewy. The Shan Dong chicken is deep fried and coated in a delicious sauce. It is more of the sweeter side if you're looking for something that's spicy. I appreciate that we were given large pieces as well! The fried rice with shrimp is amazing - I love the crunch of the green onion, the softness of the fried egg, and the texture of the rice and veggies which weren't soggy and still held a nice bite. Last but not least, the hot spicy eggplant was a great choice because it's usually the trickier dish to cook as eggplant can turn really soft and mushy. I was delighted that with the way it was prepared, the large eggplant pieces still held a tender texture that did not fall apart. I also enjoyed the sauce that was paired with the eggplant, which is oyster-sauce based and added a pleasant sweetness as well. I'm always looking forward to my next visit and I love supporting Shan Dong!

Who cares though, because once you get your food, nothing else matters. The service is fast and efficient. The prices are super reasonable and portion sizes, generous. We ordered noodles, dumplings, some cold dishes and omitted egg in the veg dishes for the vegans. Everyone had something to eat and honestly for how much we ordered, it's tough to say there's anything you might not want to order. Just go with your gut! We came here after running the Oakland Marathon and left very happy and satisfied. (apologies for not being specific on what we ordered. I'll have to update later once I dig up the photos to post here.) Just come eat here, you'll be glad you did! My only gripe is that I don't live closer!!

They close super early, so get there in time for take out for dinner (I think they close at like 6?) Parking is an actual nightmare unless you're willing to pay or walk. But that's China Town for you. Service is fast and friendly. I like that they let me practice my Mandarin. It can feel a little crowded at times, but that's the price you pay for really good food.

Getting right to it, 4 stars because it's so affordable! However, there are some things I want to…read morepoint out that would actually make this spot more of a 3 star visit. 1. The attached parking garage charges $2/every half hour. Granted, this is no where near SF parking rates, it's still an additional fee. Street parking is super hard to find, and the streets are hectic, but you can test your luck (and patience). They use little tokens now that you have to pay for before exiting. Make sure you hold onto it because a lost token will run you $48 for the day rate. 2. The spot is poppin. It's not a complaint, that's a great thing! However it's really small inside so if there's a wait, you do have to line up in a single file line along a divider wall, where you can watch diners eat. Right next to you is the take out line for BBQ orders. It can get really claustrophobic. Tables do move fast as they're quick to bring out food, however you may be asked to just share a table with someone else. They have a couple round tables for the communal dining, or larger groups (up to 8). This is an ideal spot for 2-4 people. 6+ may cause you to wait longer for seating. 3. The tap water tastes kind of weird. They bring you a hot cup of tea too but the herbal taste is a bit too strong for me. 4. The bbq items are just okay :( I did a 3 item bbq combo with rice for about $21. You get a generous portion of meat, rice and a few pieces of steamed Chinese broccoli (gai lan). No sauce to dip or anything, but they do have a black bean sauce on the table to use. The sauce is pretty salty though, so just keep that in mind when you're adding it on. No spicy condiments on the table unfortunately. The duck was decent, but the bbq pork was a bit too lean for me. It wasn't overly sweet though so that was nice. The roast pork wasn't crunchy at all!! For some reason, they thin sliced it, instead of cut it into cubes. I love roast pork for the crunch so this was disappointing. The skin was more chewy than crunchy. All of the meats were tender though! 5. Fresh shrimp rice roll was hot and steamy and the price is cheaper than some dim sum spots ($7.50 for this one i think). However, you also get less shrimp. The sauce poured on was also kinda thin, and not sweet or umami enough. The rice roll itself had a good chew though, silky but a little thick. It holds up well while eating. The proportion go shrimp to rice noodle is waaaay off though. 6. Wonton noodle soup was good! This seemed like the crowd favorite as most everyone ordered this. The noodle could have had a bit more chew to it, but the wontons were bouncy and the broth comforting. You get a couple pieces of chinese broccoli with this too which is nice. The service was efficient and our main server was nice. She spoke english and actually smiled back. They take card payment too, so that's convenient. You really get some bang for your buck here, but I'd probably stick to taking food to go.
