I requested a new roof after the 26 year old one on my townhome wore down. I reached out to RM Banning who sent a team to conduct a free inspection of the roof then sent me a very detailed proposal on what products they'd use and explanations on why. This was the biggest difference between RM Banning and other companies I got quotes from. I had no clue what a lot of these products were. When I spoke with their RM Banning's staff, they further answered my questions rather than give me a sales pitch like some of the other companies. They also had the most reasonable price especially compared to others who used nearly identical products. The roof work started early and promptly and finished before dinner time! I texted Daniel on Saturday 6/22 about coming out to give me a quote. He arrived Monday at 1100 and gave me great details about what needed to get done. I need to get the facia repaired under my roof. It was necessary for them to access my neighbors yard for the job (I live in a row house) so my neighbors had to be home. They ended up scheduling me on a Saturday of a holiday weekend, but they never showed up. Then they said the workers would be there the next day. The workers showed up but the original person that gave the estimate ordered the wrong board size for the facia. They finally showed up on Monday and did the work. I completed some loose trim work that was flapping in the wind using R.M. Banning. The process was straightforward. I sent photos and Google images of the house, and they promptly sent me a very reasonable quote. I had a few questions, which they answered promptly. I had also requested quotes from other companies, but R.M. Banning was significantly cheaper. Initially, I was hesitant to choose them, but I read positive reviews. I decided to give them a try, and they came out to make the repair. While they were working, they noticed another piece that was about to loosen and secured it as a courtesy. I was amazed and grateful for their on-the-spot attention to detail. They also mentioned another area that needed replacement work, so they sent me a quote for that as well. I had that repaired too. *Ignore low ratings from people who never worked with RM Banning.* Based on my experience as an actual customer, I definitely recommend them. They were just lovely to work with, were responsive and left my yard meticulously clean. (They even covered a vehicle that I wasn't able to move with a tarp.) Their price was competitive even with offering superior materials and warranty (the Certainteed system). I had a situation where some shingles blew off my large separate garage and over time it resulted in an actual hole in the roof along with water damage to the roof decking. Banning's price was right in line with other quotes I obtained. Their estimator actually made the extra effort to cover the hole to avoid additional damage before even giving me a quote. There was a heavy rain on Sunday April 30th and I noticed that there was a small puddle of water in my sunroom. I emailed RM banning Roofing and Project Manager Daniel Diaz contacted me within 30 minutes. He came out the next day. One of my 20 year old skylights were broken. I cannot say enough good things about Daniel Diaz at R.M. Banning. In May 2022, Mother Nature brought hail into our life. The insurance adjuster came out and arrived at an estimate providing some window cladding, but no roof or siding damage was noted. After the insurance adjuster left, I asked R.M. Banning to send someone out to take a look. Daniel got up there and came back with photos and prepared a proposal citing roof and siding damage. He met with the insurance adjuster and showed him the damage that he missed in that first visit. Daniel went to bat for us and the insurance company paid for roof and siding replacement. Daniel always took the time to ensure I understood what was happening. His level of knowledge is impressive! The work was scheduled in a manner that was flexible for all involved. We cold called R.M. Banning to come inspect our roof due to a leak. I met with Daniel for the initial inspection and he was very knowledgeable and helpful. Since our roof was estimated to be 20 years old in addition to being double layered, he recommended we work with our insurance. He then offered his time to meet with our insurance inspector and it was no contest--our entire roof was not repairable. When we finally came time to do the work, his crew was extremely professional and quick. Daniel took photos of the roof before, during, and after. They were fully transparent on the quality of work. We also had some missing gutter guards over the years. Daniel returned a few weeks after they finished the new roof and installed new ones at no additional cost and did it on his time, we honestly didn't expect that level of customer service. I had a tree fall on my home 2 days before Christmas. As you might imagine, it was extremely difficult finding someone to come out in frigid temps to assess the damage and make some emergency repairs. Thanks to Daniel from R.M. Banning, we found a caring and professional young man who showed empathy and understanding of our plight. The tree pierced through the siding and was lying on the gutter/roof. It was obvious the tree needed to come down and the hole in the siding needed a temporary patch due to the cold wet elements. I should also mention we were leaving the day after Christmas to go to FL for the season and w/o Daniel, we would not have been able to go. Immediately we had confidence in his ability to manage the situation from insurance requirements to repair of all the damages once the weather allowed. TO MR BANNING AND YELP READERS: In response to Mr. Banning's post, we have had NO communication with Mr. Banning or any associates of his company regarding the additional work. NO telephone, email, or postal mail. Reviews are intended for potential clients to know what our experiences were and that is why I wrote the original review and this response to Mr Banning. I consider it fair within 1 year of completion of a large and expensive job to expect the owner of the company and supervisor of the job to return telephone calls from a customer. Both John and I have tried to call Mr. Banning unsuccessfully. So far neither of us has received a telephone, email, or postal mail response. We made two telephone calls regarding the need for additional work. After the roof job was completed a written quote was received for the additional work. A phone call was made regarding the quote because an initial estimate by Mr. Banning, by word-of-mouth in person to John on site during roof installation, was $750-$1,000 and the written quote was $2,200. A return call was NOT received from Mr. Banning or anyone associated with the company that informed us that the written quote was a firm quote. Because there was NO response from the company to the initial call, a second call was made asking for a return call to discuss the additional work. A return call was NOT received from Mr. Banning or anyone associated with the company. I am NOT familiar with this type of business practice. We spent a substantial amount of money with Mr. Banning. 1. New roof: shingles, Ice & Water Shield, Synthetic Underlayment, SwiftStart Starter, Ridge Vent System, Shangle Ridge Hip & Ridge, additional plywood and fascia 2. Edge Vent 3. 6 pair of Vinyl shutters 4. Gutters and downspouts 5. Gutter screens 6. Chimney rebuild 7. Replace shale bricks on front stoop and point up stoop steps and walkway I believe that, at the least, we should have received a courtesy return call. But there has been NO courtesy return call. Quoted me $600 dollars for a fix that took longer to get up ladder then to do. ASA roofing charged me $80 and said it wasn't even worth having his crew come out it was such a small fix. High way robbery. Charge fair prices and you'll get better reviews. Replying to owners comment below- As I mentioned when I spoke to your company I didn't NEED a new shingle. It was there. It literally needed to be staples or glued or whatever the hell you do. Second, clearly from all the other reviews it shows you don't run your business well with your nasty comments of excuses back. A real business owner takes OWNERSHIP and apologizes. THAT my friend is how you deal with the public. Third, the company that fixed my roof didn't send out a crew BECAUSE it would have cost him more in time then was needed since it was a fix he literally completed in minutes. Fourth, my brother is a roofer out of state and also said your reply was insane for the quote and to look elsewhere for a company. That 200-300 was more the average. I had RM Banning to two jobs-so when I wanted an evaluation after a hail storm, I reached out to them. They sent their salesman who I hadn't met before. He was very nice but said that I really had very little damage-nothing that would go beyond my deductible. I few weeks later I had someone out on my roof doing work and they commented on all of my hail damage. Based on that I called my insurance company and they came out and reviewed the status and are replacing my entire roof inlcuding a copper roof with extensive damage. Not very happy with RM Banning. Replaced the entire roof and the metal roofs on my historical home. The Pm Josh had since quit and some of the work promised was never finished. I had shingles misssing, corners not finished and who knows what else as I cannot see the top of the roof.The owner came out with a "Supervisor" and attempted to "make good" on some shody work. He did not have ladder (which I had to supply), did not have screws (which he asked me to go buy)and he was rude and dismissive. Would I use them again or recommend this company-no. I first called R.M. Banning back in the winter because I had a ridge vent that had come loose and was flapping in the wind. Daniel explained the problem with the old ridge vent install and we decided to just replace the ridge vents and a few loose shingles. He advised that the roof probably had a few years left. A few months later I started to have some more serious roof issues, moisture was starting to damage my ceiling in an area nowhere near the first repair. After discussing other options (not just coming out and selling me a roof replacement as other companies did) I opted to replace the whole roof this time and they gave me a discount because of the previous repair. Hard to find roofing companies in our area that will do repairs and not try to sell you an entire roof. We have had RM Banning do two jobs for us. First was a repair of a builder defect in the placement of a dryer vent - it was in the alley of the roof line and conducted water into the house and caused one of our windows to leak - they came in and fixed that and repainted the ceiling. They inspected the rest of the roof and suggested a few minor repairs as well, which I appreciated. Second job was to repair wind damage when some metal facing came off the front of the house. Again, well done and in a timely manner. I would call RM Banning again for repairs, and for roof replacement in the future. read more
