On top of being a Takoma Park local, and an all around friendly, honest, business owner, we also came to learn that he does great work as well! His team completely transformed our hardscape areas, including installing a beautiful flagstone walkway and patio, a perfectly graded cement driveway, iron railings on our steps, new grass, and plants in a number of locations. On top of that, some of the work required some touch up and sealing and Jesse and his team have come out a couple of times later this spring to do that work unprompted. During the estimate process, the poor soil in that area was pointed out to Jesse and he said "they'd take care of all that." In practice, mulch was simply laid on top of the existing rocky clay. In inspecting the dead trees, Jesse mentioned the poor soil as the likely contributing factor. However, after learning that their nursery would not reimburse them for the cost, TG refused to replant or even remove the dead trees.

I wanted to install a driveway at my moms home to safely meet her aging needs. Carlos came by one evening and was very patient in listening to my needs. We both brainstormed on what the best design would be. He explained everything that would happen including the county's involvement with permit and a "bond" payment needed before the started of project, which would be refundable after completion. I felt very comfortable and in the "know." So I signed a contract. He estimated accurately and stayed within budget. There were no surprises. Once the work started, I found that the workers were very clean organized, and although I was at work, I was kept up-to-date through text and pictures. I also knew when the County Inspector was there and what was said. Montgomery County is very strict about the way they want things done, but I had no surprises. It was quite apparent that Carlos has been down this road with them before. Even though there was a lot of digging, at the end of each day everything was neatly covered. The job took about a week to complete. The end result... A BEAUTIFUL driveway. The disruptive area around the driveway was sodded. It looks so beautiful, almost like it was there forever. The work was beautifully done and we always get compliments on our driveway and walkway. That same project also included the installation of a patio in the backyard and a concrete pad for the a/c unit to set on. I could not disagree more with their self-evaluation. In terms of quality of product , customer service, communication between staff and management and standing behind their product, I would have to strongly warn other consumers to beware. A little over a year ago, I noticed that the Hickory Hollow Community Association that manages the common property in my townhouse development in Columbia, MD was having concrete work done to replace some of the individual concrete slabs on Bridlerein Terrace where I live. I had patched, over the years, some of my own damaged concrete on the walk leading up to my own home, and decided it was time to have the majority of my walk redone. Assuming that the management company for Hickory Hollow had done its homework, I contracted with Choice Concrete to do the work. I should have heeded to my first warning, when I noticed that when Choice Concrete first laid the step, it was on an uneven plane. At my request, they leveled the step, and all was well for the first year. Around December, 2013 and a little over a year after the concrete work was done, I noticed that there were small pieces of concrete and concrete powder to either side of my walk and that we were dragging these abrasives into my newly installed hardwood floors. During the next few months, large potholes began to appear both on the surface of the walk as well as the face of the step. Around the end of February, 2014, I called Choice Concrete, expressing my concern and requesting that someone do a site visit. After three more phone calls, two from me and one from my husband, John came out to inspect. He told me that he would contact the owner of the company as well as the manufacturer of the concrete, and then get back to me. He said the damage was very likely due to the fact that stores were selling salt as "snow melt" since everyone had run out of the preferred, safer product. I assured him that this was not the case, and brought him to my utility room to see the 50 lb. container I had purchased 4 years hence, and had not caused any damage to my previous walk. After returning the first week in April from a 2 1/2 week trip out of the country, I had received no messages from John. Following one more call to John, one message left with another employee, and three to owner Roy Flores that remained unanswered, I called two days ago to say that I would be submitting a Yelp review if I hadn't received a satisfactory response within 48 hours. Mr. Flores called me today to say that there was nothing he could do and that he couldn't explain why some slabs in the neighborhood were intact and some were pitted. When I asked about the poor responsiveness, he said the company was very busy and he was hardly ever in the office. When I mentioned the importance of ongoing communication with the staff, he blew it off. I offered to negotiate a financial compromise if his company were to redo my walk, and he said he would have to come out to see it, but he couldn't promise when, as there were no pending jobs in Howard County. He talked about patching the holes, which I said was unacceptable, and he agreed that that was not a good way to go.
