I am extremely happy with the work that Sustainable provided. Alex came out, walked my property with me, listened to my concerns, gave me suggestions, gave me the extremely affordable quote and we were added to the schedule. Due to all the rain we got in August, we had to be rescheduled several times. Alex, always communicated the date changes with me, and made sure the new dates were agreeable, all while apologizing for the delays. When the day came, rain was in the forecast, yet again. Alex and his team, still showed up. I asked to add another tree to the job, that wasn't in the original quote, but that I realized should have been, and Alex, added it to the work load without hesitation. It unfortunately started to rain, but they stayed and completed the job anyway. Clean up was great. They picked up all branches, raked leaves and even added soil, grass seed and straw to areas where the weight of the bucket truck left marks, due to the ground being so soft, because of all the rain. I'd like to note, that they did put down plywood to help absorb the weight of the truck, it was just something that couldn't be helped in a couple areas, and they made sure to mend it, prior to leaving my property. Lastly, later in the evening, I noticed that there were two rather larger branches that I wanted cut, but didn't notice while the guys were still at my home. I emailed Alex to see what could be done, feeling that technically, I should have done a more thorough walk around prior to them leaving. Alex responded that he wanted my guaranteed satisfaction, and he would send the guys back out to take care of the branches. They came 3 days later! Alex and his crew were absolutely AMAZING! We had 5 trees that needed to be removed. Two were centuries old, very tall oak trees that were diseased and inflicted with fungus. Another was a massive entanglement of multiple old mulberry trees that covered our house. This job required 2 cranes and multiple bucket trucks! Our neighbors were also in complete awe at how well they handled this HUGE job! Alex's communication was great. He stayed in contact with me before, and during and after. We were referred to Alex and Shy Tree by a friend in our neighborhood and couldn't have been happier with the whole process. From the first point of contact to schedule an estimate through the completion of our job, Alex and his team were easy to work with and very professional. This is not a reflection on Shy Tree's work, because...we didn't hire them. Why then? The quote was $4000. That was $2300 MORE than the HIGHEST quote we received from three other licensed and insured businesses (whose quotes varied with a delta of a little over a $100). Jerry's response to my surprise was: it's a lot of work. Indeed it is, as it would be for the other companies. I'm very thankful I had those current proposals (as well as years of tree maintenance fees from the past) in my pocket. We hired Alex Shy for a very large job in August 2020, to remove 18 trees and 33 stumps to be exact. In fact, he said we were most likely his largest job ever! Alex scheduled his work within 3 weeks of his estimate and the actual job was completed within a few days. I had a huge Maple Tree that had been destroyed by insects from within the tree. A huge wind storm came by and snapped it in half. Part of it was laying on the ground and the other half was leaning dangerously towards the Neighbor's homes. I called Shy Tree up, Alex Shy came out, took pictures, which I sent off to insurance. They did a wonderful job cutting the tree down. It only took them one day to remove the entire tree and hall it off to the dump. We have a tree that is infected with fire blight. I searched for tree companies with a certified Arborist, and settled on Shy Tree for it's positive ratings. Alex came out and applied Cambistat to slow the tree's growth so new shoots do not succumb to the blight, and it allows the tree to focus it's energy on fighting the blight.
