We had previously had work done with Prestige Tree Experts along with the most recent work in bringing down a large maple tree and I would highly recommend them. From start to finish the work was done professionally, on time and made the decision to say goodbye to an old friend less difficult. You could see the crew had worked well with one another and their main tree cutter was very experienced in rigging each branch and cutting each piece down in the right direction so they swung away from the main house and was safely secured by the ground crew. It takes great coordination with each step of the removal process and a lot of work carrying large branches and collecting each large trunk piece with their specialized equipment. What I really appreciated was the time they took to get to the surface roots reaching towards the house. Watching most of this process was quite a learning experience. This is my first negative review after hundreds of positive ones. It started with a professionally-done estimate of $2,900. $2,000 for the backyard. $900 for a large oak tree in the front. In total they spent about 15 man hours on the project - most on the oak tree in front. Almost $200 per man hour! The back yard work was nowhere near as it was estimated. It could have been that the work was totally unsupervised and it seems they worked unguided by the estimate.They did come out to complete the work that was contracted after we complained. I asked to speak to a manager about the cost and our experience. They said they would communicate, but never followed up. We're small business owners and would NEVER treat to a customer in that manner. It was get the money and run. read more

My first time writing such a negative review on a landscaping company. Landscape companies are usually small and local companies that provide excellent communication and customer services and I was able to work with several great ones in the past on various landscaping needs. But this is our first time hiring a specialized tree company. We would not recommend Prestige Tree Experts. We had multiple tree companies to come bid for the big job of cutting down 14 pine trees and trimming a couple others. Prestige wasn't the lowest bid at the end of the day but we decided to go with them because we had a good impression of the gentleman that came and gave us a quote in light of all the positive reviews. However, we now echoed the negative reviews here way more than the positive ones...for multiple reasons. Just look at the pictures. The crew knew that they wouldn't be back until 5-6 days later (which was never clarified with us given the poor communication) but decided to leave an enormous amount of tree messes on not just my property but also the neighbors'! We specifically told them not to and the owner promised us. Well, the crew left unexpectedly early at 12:30 on a day that was originally scheduled for us. No communication as to when they would leave and come back. So we didn't even have a chance to ask them to come fix it. So our neighbors had to bear the sight of the messes in their property created by Prestige Tree for 4 and a half days - even though we told them specifically not to! On top of that, no communication on arrival time or share of any plan of work. And if the weather didn't work out, the way they dealt with that is by far the most frustrating. Further, during their work, the crew wrapped ropes on one of our neighbors' fruit trees to use it to help pull one of our trees to be cut. The neighbor called me crying and screaming thinking that the crew would cut her tree! I had to go out there, have the neighbor speak to the crew leader, and spend half an hour comforting the neighbor. I suggested the owner to call us (otherwise the owner probably wouldn't). It seems overall that the company just isn't experienced/good at management, communication, customer services, or operational planning. The crew may do good work, but what goes into a company's reputation is not just good work by its workers, but the owner's care and customer experience as well. Prestige has scored 0 on the latter. The owner (or the gentleman that won the work) has never bothered to come on site to monitor anything. And it's a $10k project that involved 15+ trees. read more

These guys were first class in every way. I had one tree removed and one trimmed. When getting the estimate from Matt, the primary reason was a large dead oak and I got a reasonable estimate. I also got good advice on two trees which I asked about - one was just trimmed and the other one did not require any work. As the team worked, they cleaned up and removed all the debris. We had prestige out for an estimate to remove a dead tree and a few other minor things. I'd previously dealt with them on another estimate and vividly remember chatting with the owners about the job. Friendly guys with a real passion for trees. This time around Prestige provided us with a 2 hour window. Out of all the companies, they were the only one with such a large time span. You'd think they might call when headed out so I could actually do things while waiting but that didn't happen. Their representative arrived about a half hour before the 2 hour window ended. He was nice and covered the options of my situation. Their estimate for work was WAY over any of the other companies. All are licensed and insured, yet this company was 3 times as much as the lowest bid and at least $1,000 higher than the other companies. For reference: Arundel tree- lowest. New look tree service (with 25/30% off coupon)- several hundred higher than Arundel tree. Maryland professional tree service (with 35% off coupon) - Over 2,100. Prestige Tree experts- Over 3,000. I realize pricing tree work can vary from one company to the next, but charging close to double the price (in one case over triple!) of your competition seems a bit excessive. I wish them all the best, but probably won't call the next time I'm looking for tree service. read more

I shopped around for a great arborist and talked to five different companies. Nathan Girot of Prestige Tree Experts seemed the most friendly, down-to-earth, and knowledgeable so I went with Prestige. He confirmed with me, showed up when he said he would, and got me an estimate with good prices and ideas. Today, a team of 5 men showed up to cut down five Virginia Pines and take care of three Red Oaks (cutting out dead wood). I spoke with the lead guy, Esven, to confirm what was to be done, and to make sure we were on the same page. I watched them work as a team all day long, moving swiftly and with great care. It was terrifying to watch when a big limb would come down! They encouraged one another and were good natured and finished a tremendous amount of work in a short amount of time. They all seemed very capable and friendly. I'm very happy with the result. They even helped me create some seating using the cut logs. Highly recommended. read more

we had a crew of 5 guys arrive and very efficiently remove a 50 Foot maple tree in a little over 30 minutes. They were meticulous about clean up and very nice to deal with! If you use Prestige, you will pay for an arborist who will do the quote, but the work will be done unsupervised with all of the finesse of a BGE roadside crew. I hired Prestige to do some tree removal and prune old two large fir trees, including removing lower branches and pruning some of the branches that were coming toward the house. I met with the arborist twice to explain what I wanted. On the day of the work, the crew leader did not have the correct instructions for my house. I called the office and asked them to have the arborist talk to the crew leader. When I came out, they had sheared all the branches off the tree that pointed in the direction of my house instead of selectively pruning the branches that were coming toward my house. The tree looks terrible. They also did not complete removing dead branches from the back side of a second tree and needed to return. This time, I closely watched to make sure the work was done right. The tree removals were done well, but my poor fir trees look terrible, especially the one right next to my driveway! Pictures are posted below. You definitely don't need to hire an arborist to have this quality of work done. And if you want an arborist overseeing the work, definitely do not hire Prestige. read more

We have a mature yard (~33 years), with trees and shrubs overshading our garden and raised beds, as well as some sketchy dead tree branches. Nate came out for a tree review, did a walk around and gave a reasonable price for trees and shrubs. The crew came out the following week, the foreman Carlos had some suggestions and the guys went to work. In just several hours they pruned, cleaned up or removed 14 trees and shrubs, chipping most of it and cutting some of the hardwood into firewood size. They cleaned up and blew the twigs, leaves and branches and stacked the firewood. The yard and garden looks great and wide open, and we're looking forward to our gardens in the spring. In July 2020, I was in need to have trees thinned, topped and elevated when I saw a crew from Prestige Tree Experts trimming trees at my neighbor's house. i talked to the onsite foreman who gave me an estimate which I accepted. He then scheduled for the date to do the work two weeks from that time. Been meaning to write this review for a while. We bought our house last September and needed to have 2 dead trees removed and another one cut back from off of our roof. We received around 10 quotes from various tree companies and arborists and Prestige came back with the lowest quote by far. After seeing so many positive Yelp reviews and noticing that an acquaintance had used them, we decided to go with them. I spoke with the gentleman who provided the quote and he said they would cut the 2 dead trees down to the stump. He also said they could chop up the branches from the Maple tree that they were cutting back from our roof so we could use it as firewood. He said the wood would have to be stored away until next winter but we'd be able to use it. I figured that was fine since we had plenty of room in our garage to store it. We scheduled our appointment about 2 weeks in advance and they showed up promptly at the appointment time. My husband and I both had to work so my Aunt was there while they performed the work and gave us a play by play. She sent pictures and they were in and out in under 3 hours. The only reason I'm giving them 4 stars is because they left a lot of large branches from the 2 dead trees, most of which we still have in our backyard because yard waste can't be picked up in DC and it's too thick to cut down with garden shears to put it into garbage bags. Also, they did not leave the trimmings from the maple tree for firewood as we had discussed, they instead chipped the wood. I mentioned this when I spoke to them on the phone after they finished that day but the guy was basically like oh well, nothing we can do now. We had a rather large dead black walnut that sustained damage in a recent wind storm. It had partially cracked, was on the verge of falling at any minute, and was posing a serious danger to our house. Prestige gave us an estimate on a Tuesday and had a crew out the next morning. We had 4-5 other tree removal companies look at it that day and only Prestige said they could have it safely removed the next day. Not gonna lie, the cost was higher than anyone else, but it was a more dangerous job than usual, as well a rush job. Sure enough, the next morning they showed up right on time with over a half dozen folks and a small army of equipment. They had the tree down and all the debris completely removed in under two hours. The stump grinding was quick and makes it look like a tree had never been there. Again, the price seemed a tad high, but Prestige did a perfect job on the shortest of notice. I get some people, when hiring professionals, will go with the cheapest price around. However, I am also a firm believer in "you get what you pay for". If one company is coming in far below most of the others, the first question I ask myself is "what are they skimping on that they can afford to bid so low?" I did have Prestige come out to do an estimate on a tree that needs crown reduction and then some basic shaping. The process of setting up the estimate and meeting the estimator went smooth. I've had a few companies come out and look at the work in question, and each time the estimator/arborist spends a good 10-15 minutes looking at the tree, detailing what they see and what they'd do. With Prestige, it was about a 5 minute estimate of looking at the tree, The red flags (in my eyes) that occurred in those 5 minutes): I tried to throw out some keywords for the estimator, and they didn't use them, choosing simplistic terms. There was no mention of Quality ANSI standards that would be used, No mention if an actual arborist would be on site, No mention of the company being up to date on its insurance, No written estimate was offered. All I got was a verbal "If you book for tomorrow, I'll do the work at X cost. Any other day will be X+$100." And the estimator didn't even have a clipboard/paper to write notes on (unless he left it in his car). Maybe they are a good company that does good work, but the above factors could cause you more trouble (and cause more damage if ANSI standards aren't followed) than I think I'm willing to risk. If I could give 6 stars I would. Prestige is great! They responded to my inquiry right away and Shane who came out was knowledgeable and friendly. They cut me a great deal and booked my work right away. On the day of service, they were able to do a 2 day job in just one afternoon and when they say they clean the job site,they mean it! There was no residual mulch or sawdust from all of the cutting or stump grinding and they laid new seed and straw which has already grown back grass. And when I had an issue, instead of disappearing on me they responded the same day and took responsibility and fixed the problem. No arguing, no fighting, just came back and did the work. Prestige came out last week on time, gave an estimate for trimming two 100' sugar maple trees in my backyard including removal of branches overhanging house. Estimate was reasonable ( I had a tree removal earlier this year). A week later their crew was out an hour earlier than expected and within two hours had the work completed, our yard cleaned up, and trees chipped while they were still doing clean up. The trimmers also explained why they deliberately left a few branches I had thought they might cut--so that the tree would have balance and symmetry as it was a healthy tree. Impressive analysis. So, I moved into a house with a lot of really tall pine trees that were falling or ready to fall in the near future. After doing a search for local tree removers, I found Prestige Tree Experts. I called them and they were able to come by right away to give me an estimate. After getting several estimates, I found Prestige to have a great price. I scheduled the removal with them. On the day of the remove, they arrived on time, set up appropriate safety cones around their equipment, and got right to work. It took a couple hours to take down a few trees - one that had already fallen and one that was really giant. They didn't have any problems. I have a fence around the yard and I was a little worried that it might get damaged, but there weren't any problems. Also, they are insured - so, if something did happen, it would be covered. It's nice to have that peace of mind. The team was very professional and did a great job cleaning up at the end. I felt so great about their work the first time around that I called them again for some more trees that needed to be removed and had a few stumps removed, too.
