I don't write reviews that often, but wanted to give Express Tree Service a review. I hired them several months back to take down a large dead tree from my backyard that was causing me and my neighbors a growing problem. At first they were difficult to get in touch with, and I didn't love the fact that they only took cash. However, they were SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than other quotes I had received. And another company mentioned wanting to use a crane that would need to be on my neighbor's property (I have a very small yard and my house is in extremely close proximity to my neighbors on both sides). I am not close with my neighbors on that side and did not want to have to ask to put a large piece of equipment on their yard. Express Tree Service arrived the day they promised and arrived almost on time. I was called promptly to let me know they were in traffic and would be a little late. That was not a problem and I appreciated the prompt notice. Rush hour traffic is insane from their location to mine, and unpredictable day-by-day, so that was no problem at all that they were slightly, very slightly late. The whole time they were here they were extremely professional and worked diligently to remove the dead tree. They removed all of the debris (well, there was a small trail of tree shavings left, but nothing significant). I am very satisfied with the service I received from this company and have no regrets in hiring them. I would make the same choice if I had to do it all over again. read more

When you call, the girl acts as if she would rather be somewhere else. Answers the phone "hello (long pause) ........express tree service" and sounds as if she's outside or at the beach, I don't know. I gave her my availability to accommodate an in-person estimate which was a 4 hour window from 11am-3pm. She stated she would call me in the morning to advise a more precise time. At 1:30pm, I CALLED THEM and again the same 'I-wish-I-was-on-another-planet' phone reception... and then offered to come out AT 3pm. NOPE. If the phone etiquette matches the service? Express Tree Removal exceeded all my expectations--truly a top-notch company! I had two large, fully grown trees in my front yard that needed to be removed, and from start to finish, the entire process was smooth, professional, and impressively efficient. I was referred to them by a neighbor who had great things to say, and they didn't disappoint. After I called, Jose came out within two hours to give me a very good quote--talk about responsiveness! He was knowledgeable, courteous, and gave a very fair estimate. We scheduled the job for the following week at 7:30am. The crew arrived early at 7:15am, fully equipped and ready to get started. They worked quickly and safely, completing the tree removal in under two and half hours. I was amazed at how well-coordinated they were--every member of the team knew exactly what they were doing. Not only did they take the trees down with precision, but they also cleaned up all the wood, branches, and debris, leaving the yard spotless. Two days later, they returned (again arriving early!) to handle the stump grinding. That part also took about two hours and was done with the same level of care and professionalism. They made sure the area was clean and level, as if the trees had never been there. What really stood out to me was their reliability, attention to detail, and the pride they clearly take in their work. So I did not use them so I would go by the other ratings however I received three estimates total and two were at $4k and theirs was at $13k so not sure what that was about. That was huge and I did let them know and they never responded back so assume they either subbed out the work or did not own a crane. read more

This company is GREAT! I contacted them yesterday 3/25. Jordan came out that same day and provided a great estimate, for my dead (2 big oak trees). They came out today 3/26 (less than 24 hours)! The crew did a wonderful job showing up, removed the trees and did a great job cleaning up. Not only that, but they're very friendly! I wish I could give more than 5 stars to ETS. Not only is Fernando extremely communicative, fair, and knowledgable, the on-site team is extraordinary. I've used a lot of different contractors and home services but never met a team of men so skilled, efficient, ultra-conscientious, focused, and good-humored. Honestly. Removing this MASSIVE (and I mean MASSIVE) sick tree was pretty tricky, but these men took great care, and what probably should've been a multi-day job, they finished in one. Express Tree service was quick to respond and trimmed the tree quickly and efficiently. At first their estimate came in really low but after a second look they adjusted it and it still matched the other tree company. The bonus was that they were able to come the next day which was excellent! Other companies needed several weeks just to give us an estimate but Express Tree was really quick on both the estimate and the actual cutting of the tree. I would give 5 stars but will only give 4 stars since I ended up with a crack in my deck which nobody realized until after they left. The crack became a small hole which I tried to repair myself. It wasn't worth any extra hassle to complain, and overall I was pleased and recommend Express Tree Service. read more

They didn't have high-tech equipment (I.e., a cherry picker) but with ropes and pulleys they managed to cut some branches from my tall tree for a reasonable price. read more

It was amazing watching these guys work! Fernando came quickly and offered an extremely reasonable estimate (I had gotten three estimates, and theirs was the lowest by a long shot), and was able to schedule us within a week. When the team of 6-7 arrived, they immediately went to work, and worked like a well-oiled machine. I was impressed not only with their skills, but also with the care that they took to clean up our yard after almost every large cut, but also any small debris that had fallen into our neighbor's yards. I had a massive maple tree in my back yard that needed trimming before another limb fell off, onto my garage. Express tree service was next door working on my neighbor's tree when I asked if they could give me a quote. I was able to get a quote for trimming my tree the same day from Jacob. Jacob was experienced enough to be able to assess the amount of work needed and gave me a fair price. I couldn't get a quote from Davey tree the same day, even though they were working in our alley. They said they had to send the person who is able to assess the job. My tree was so massive it took 7 men to trim it, but they did it in a very short time with saws and many ropes - not one large branch crashed to the ground, but was lowered with precision, avoiding my garage. The men were very friendly and polite. No debris was left in my yard when they were done. They even took extra wood that had fallen from this tree from an earlier time. A very large well-established pine tree inexplicably turned completely brown and died seemingly within a month's time. Fernando called me within 20 minutes after I left an online inquiry for tree and stump removal estimates. Fernando arrived the same day, at the appointed time and provided me with a very reasonable proposal. The tree was scheduled for removal 2 days later. The crew was on time, professional, polite, well-equipped and made quick work of the job at hand. It was unbelievable how fast the massive tree came down. The crew raked the yard and removed every bit of debris from the property. What a waste of time. I asked for a quote using their Yelp page. They supposedly answer within 3 hours. They finally answered the next day. I decided to circumvent this nonsense and called them up directly. I talked to a woman who pulled up my file, including a photo I sent them, and gave me a quote. She even asked if the "pine tree" (actually a spruce) in the photo was the only one I needed removed. She then scheduled the work to be done today. When they hadn't shown up by 2:30, I called their main number, which answered with a menu in Spanish. Huh? When I hit 0 to try to circumvent the Spanish menu, they hung up. When I called their alternate number, I talked to someone who claimed he had only worked there for a short time and who couldn't find my file. He offered to send them out the next day. I told him I was busy the next day, and he told me that was all he could do. "Not good" doesn't cover it. "Terrible" comes a bit closer. I will post my experience with another company. read more

On March 3, 2018 two of our neighbor's trees fell in our yard and completely blocked our driveway and property. Victor insisted that our insurance would pay for the whole tree removal cost, as he said he had done routinely, Without insurance he said his cost would be $1,750 but since we had insurance he charged us $3,500 which he claimed is allowed by all the insurance companies in Maryland. If we paid by credit card there would be an extra 10% cost, or $350 more. We [stupidly] paid by check. Victor did NOT tell us accurate info. Our insurance only covers $500 -- after the $250 deductible is paid. We complained to Victor and wanted him to refund the excessive charges. He REFUSED, insisting that he did us a favor by doing his job! Our neighbors had trees cut down and removed for less than $1,00 each. We feel we were told info that all tree people know and we feel we were greatly mislead and mistreated. Terrible experience and feel really scammed in our view. read more
