R&L motors is a great dealership. They helped my grandparents get a nice truck with no hassle. Couldn't ask for nicer people.

The car we bought was spotless and detailed very nicely. The showroom and parking lot is clean and inviting. Lots of really nice cars in there. The day we visited they had the grand opening of the diecast store inside. That place is cool. Many, many great diecast vehicles and other machines. It's a neat tie-in that is logical for the car dealer. Why not five stars? Because though we were assured that the car had been looked at closely and driven on the highway, we noticed a sound while driving it home. That didn't show up during the round the block test drive. Perhaps if that test drive had turned left we would have noticed. There was a small issue with some of the fender liner on the front passenger wheel-well that would only touch the tire when high-speed air forced it back onto the tire or during a heavy left turn. I've fixed the issue, and I'm grateful that it wasn't major because I had already bought the car as-is. It's a reminder that we need to be hyper-detailed when looking at/driving cars, either in-person or remotely.

The sales person was helpful at that point. I requested an inspection and the salesperson suggested we come up with an agreed price first. I was ok with this. We talked over the phone and I offered 32500 for a vehicle listed at 33500 which is more than fair. The sales person said "why that amount" or something to that effect and I responded and said "because thats what I want to pay right now". He said "well I'm sure you'd want to pay 20k" and laughed. Then he claimed I owed sales tax even though I told him I live in a tax free state. We went back and forth over text and I told this person it was rude. I asked for the manager. He called me and tried to make it right. He was overall very nice but something stuck out to me. I asked for a best price and he sent me the exact price on the site with a dealer fee. No discount whatsoever and backed it up with the work they did to the truck prior to the sale and the fact that they are a "non negotiable dealership". Thats very strange to me. They arent Carmax nor do they have have it listed on their site about this. I still wanted the truck but this whole experience sat with me and im not spending a dime of my money towards a dealership who employs rude people as the manager said "hes young and hes said things before" and doesnt want to budge at all on their price after a fair offer was made. I thought others may want to read about my experience when ready to spend cash and buy a vehicle at almost the listed price.

I am not usually one to set foot on a dealer lot as I usually get older cars off of craigslist and…read moreget them back to shape enough to get 100k or so out of them. But my wife needed a car that was in better shape and I decided to go the extra dollars by buying a used car from a dealer with some kind of warranty so I would not have to do any work to it for a while. I found a Subaru at Randy Marion Save-A-Lot in Hickory and went to look at it. Unfortunately when I arrived someone else was in the process of buying and I instead test drove a Honda which checked out fine. The price was good and I gave 10% down to hold the car for me for a few days so I could get the rest of the money. During that time I also researched values, issues, etc on the Honda and went back a few days later and checked a few things on the car before finalizing the deal. I've now driven it 1000 miles and it is a great car and I feel that the money that I paid for the car was a very fair price. I would probably give them 4.5 stars if I could but since I can't I'm giving them 5 as I am very happy with the car and value that greatly. The only thing I would say is that the customer experience there was not 5 stars although not horrible either but it is a used car lot so it is what it is I suppose. Bottom line- there are good used cars here at very reasonable prices...if you know what you are looking for and do your due diligence before buying from them.

The price on the vehicle was 9984 and I offered 8500 realizing that there would be a counter from them. Much to my surprise the sales guy comes back with a counter offer of 15,370 over 50% mark up from what it was listed for online and on the window. Who does business like this? I was so offended by this that I walked straight out the door. Never will I ever go to this company again. They need to fire their finance manager... Unless they can afford to loose guaranteed sales.

While they had it they did a multipoint inspection on it and Surprise, Surprise, Surprise as Gomer Pyle would say, found multiple things "wrong" with it to the tune of $922 in parts and labor including telling us the transmission fluid was brown and needed servicing. My wife said "Really? My husband just serviced the transmission less than a month ago" and at that point the service advisor started back peddling saying maybe it just looked that way because of the lighting! LMFAO!! I knew it was coming, as soon as we turned them down for the repairs, the high-pressure sales pitch started. Nothing will turn me off faster or lose my business quicker than someone pressuring me to buy something once I have already told them NO! Besides everything on the list IF it needed to be done I or my mechanic could have done it for a fraction of the price that Hendrick Honda wanted to charge to do it. Plus now we are getting letters in the mail at least once a week reminding us that "we need to schedule an appointment for our urgently needed repairs" I wonder how long we are going to continue to get these letters before they finally realize that we are not bringing the car back there ever again for any reason! I pulled the transmission dipstick after we got home and that was the reddest "brown" transmission fluid I have ever seen!! These dealerships will flat out lie to your face to try and make a buck. I may have been born at night, but not last night! Two stars only because the service advisor did reset our radio theft security code and set the time without charging us which shocked the hell out of me!
