I have reviewed them in the past as NeoAndTrinityNick and gave 5 stars. As I said then he is not always home. They have always been good to me. They have always had fair and knowledgeable mechanics. Today was a bad day for them, but because of Alex I will still give them 4 stars. I had a window that would not go up on an old vehicle that they have been the only ones to work on for 8 years now. I asked one thing. Do not unhook the door locks because I can not get into the back. They unhooked everything and jammed a rag and piece of wood down in the window. I was upset and called, but Alex was kind and said just bring it back. As I explained to the lady in the front she jerked the keys out of my hand, because of my complaints. I'm a customer and I was unhappy with the service. They fixed it no charge, and even removed the jammed piece of wood from the window. I will give 4 stars even now because of the one Hispanic mechanic and Alex. That woman does not have a clue how she made me feel. Had this been 15 years ago I would have jumped across that counter. Furthermore, she made me cuss, which led me to crying, because I am not the person I use to be. I don't trust anywhere else, but it may be time I find another mechanic. read more

I dropped my car off for a spark plug change and a new tire. What they said would be 2 hours (my spark plugs are hard to get to) has turned into 7 1/2 and the tire didn't get done. When I left on foot they asked if i'd be back, I said yes and returned 3 hours later to see them just pulling my car in the garage. They said some people had called in sick and I understand there was nothing they could do, but at least let me know before I leave. Still debating on going back for the used tires (they assured me there would be hardly a wait LOL) Who knows, maybe it was a fluke day. I'm from out of town and my car broke down. After scratching our heads for a while when I drove it in and it seemed fine.... we started to drive 321 towards hickory when it broke down again. This time the check engine light was on. They were able to figure out exactly what was wrong. We knew they wouldn't be able to get to it yesterday but was promised that I would have my car before lunch the next day. Sure enough I was able to pick it up at noon. Went to get the a/c checked out and we have had issues with other companies. He said he would only charge us $10 to check it out. He not only explained in detail what was wrong, but also told us about another issue and didn't charge us a dime. Very professional and didn't make us feel stupid. I highly recommend this place. When they were Tuffy's they were pretty good but now that they've been Appalachian Tire the service is not so good. They are selling used cars and detailing cars more than working cars it seems. The work done seems pretty good but they don't honor lifetime warranties on work done -- they'll either not fix it or charge you for parts that should be covered under the lifetime warranty. The owner used to speak to customers now he just whispers to the cashiers and you can bet when he does you are going to get charged for something you should not be charged for or charged more than you thought you would be. They sell tires too and they don't honor the warranties on the tires either and don't sell good quality tires. I bought some from them and have hardly put any miles on them and they have not lasted like they should. They apparently have no interest in repeat business and long time customers. I'd been noticing that they hadn't been as busy as usual. They are just no longer reputable. read more
