I haven't been to a dealership in so many years I can't remember the last time but today I know why! Took our Honda CR-V in for a recall on the passenger side air bag inflator. While they had it they did a multipoint inspection on it and Surprise, Surprise, Surprise as Gomer Pyle would say, found multiple things "wrong" with it to the tune of $922 in parts and labor including telling us the transmission fluid was brown and needed servicing. My wife said "Really? My husband just serviced the transmission less than a month ago" and at that point the service advisor started back peddling saying maybe it just looked that way because of the lighting! LMFAO!! I knew it was coming, as soon as we turned them down for the repairs, the high-pressure sales pitch started. Nothing will turn me off faster or lose my business quicker than someone pressuring me to buy something once I have already told them NO! Besides everything on the list IF it needed to be done I or my mechanic could have done it for a fraction of the price that Hendrick Honda wanted to charge to do it. Plus now we are getting letters in the mail at least once a week reminding us that "we need to schedule an appointment for our urgently needed repairs" I wonder how long we are going to continue to get these letters before they finally realize that we are not bringing the car back there ever again for any reason! I pulled the transmission dipstick after we got home and that was the reddest "brown" transmission fluid I have ever seen!! These dealerships will flat out lie to your face to try and make a buck. When you go back to the paper work is where they start to try and upscale, but they heard my no and respected it. Now I love the Toyota service dept. This dealership is the absolute worst. I purchased my car just 3 months ago and have already had to bring it back over 3 times for electrical issues that remain unresolved. Getting the vehicle repaired is nearly impossible unless you're prepared to waste hours sitting at the dealership. They claim they can only offer a rental once they diagnose the issue. That's convenient. How many visits do you need to diagnose the same issue? I work full-time and have a small child to care for -- I cannot keep returning again and again for the SAME issue, and I don't have the option of going without transportation. There is no way this car ever passed a true "certified pre-owned" inspection. They sold me a vehicle with obvious, ongoing issues -- and when I asked them to buy it back, they said they would, but only if I agreed to roll over $3,600 in negative equity. In other words, I get punished for their dishonesty. And the kicker? A manager actually tried to persuade me to remove my last 1-star review in exchange for a free oil change. How about FIXING MY CAR instead of bribing customers to stay quiet? I'll make sure everyone I know hears about my experience and why they should avoid this place. One of the BEST dealerships in Hickory. They're very reliable, professional, and surprisingly quick when servicing your vehicle, and check in is a breeze! They have a nice waiting area with computers, tv's, clean restrooms and a play room for children (currently closed due to Covid). They also have free waters and vending machines for snacks. I really wanted to trust this dealership's service center--but my experience says otherwise. I bought my Honda Odyssey brand new here, along with a maintenance package for oil changes and tire rotations every 5,000 miles. I've stuck to that schedule and brought the car in for every service at this location. But during a recent visit, I suspected they weren't rotating my tires--especially because one of them had been replaced with a different brand and never moved positions. So before the next visit, I marked all four tires. After the service? All the marks were still in the same spots. They hadn't rotated a single one. When I confronted them, the service advisor told me they "don't rotate newer tires"--but I had proof that none of the tires were rotated. Since then, the service manager and general manager have ignored my calls. Their only offer? A free rotation. But how can I trust a rotation they already skipped several times? Now I'm told my Bridgestone Turanza EL440s (with a 50,000-mile warranty) need replacing at 33,475 miles, and the advisor falsely claimed they're only rated for 30,000 miles. That's either total ignorance or intentional deception. Bottom line: I feel taken advantage of, and I won't be coming back. Be cautious if you're considering service here. read more

Supposedly they changed a car part with a genuine Honda part, but it turns out all they did was take my car away from me for about an hour while they did NOTHING....except present me with a bill just under $500 which I paid. Of course the problem continued so I took it to a local mechanic a neighbor suggested. He asked me for the receipt Honda gave me after looking at the part that supposedly was changed. The serial number on the receipt did not match the number on the car part, and it was not a genuine Honda part. The mechanic all but said "they robbed you" without saying it. Fast forward to not even a month or so later I noticed my rear fender was starting to come loose. I hadn't even been driving the van much so I called to see if they could fix it. The manager of that specific department called me and basically tried to accuse me of either going over a bump of some sort (like this always happens) or someone hit me and I didn't realize it! I would have to pay for them to literally clip that fender back in and it wouldn't be cheap. I just paid 20 plus thousand for a van and this is what they do! We bought a new Honda Pilot in Dec 24, we were asking to have the tires changed because they were for off road. 265 size tires, they put on 255, which we have had constant trouble with slow leaks,Belonged to someone else from someones family at Hendrick Honda, so that's what was put on our new Honda Pilot Trailblazer, paid for 1 new tire to be replaced already. As we continued to read the Honda Pilot manual it states that 255 size is not recommended for the Pilot. So are the people at Hendrick Honda in Hickory morons that they don't know their own product. Going back in July to see why we have a slow leak again, is litigation in the air, I am most disappointed ,since I have been a Honda customer since 1983, never had any other make of vehicle, never have we had such an agrevious error. Hendrick fix this at your expense. Teach your sales people about the Honda product(Cole), and absolutely your repair crew.(Zach). Yes naming names. Tanner was a real advocate for us. He presented a very fair deal to the management team, placed a factory order, kept us in the loop on progress, and when the car arrived walked our daughter through the credit application process to make the in-person closing a breeze. His follow through and communication was excellent and really made it so much easier. There were no last minute surprises, no funny stuff with the numbers and everything was as promised. As I told Tanner and Jason, integrity and honesty are the foundation to a good business relationship, it is essential or I will walk away. We bought a new battery from Hendrick, used the Odyssey a few weeks, then parked it. When we next tried to start it the battery was dead and was difficult to charge, so I called Hendick and asked them to check it. Jamie made an appointment to bring the Odyssey in the next morning. We did, and after sitting in their waiting room for 1 1/2 hours I went to see what was taking so long. Jamie said they were "almost done and would go over 'everything'" with me "soon". Half an hour after that he showed me a list of over $3,000 worth of repairs they wanted to do including about $250 for spark plugs because "it was time", then handed me a bill for $140!!! All I wanted was the battery checked. Jamie never once said anything about doing a complete diagnostic and there was NO mention that there would be a charge for anything. I was so shell-shocked that I paid the $140 and left. Still angry the next day I tried many times to call the manager who was always in a meeting or out to lunch. I tried again the rest of the week and never reached him, so left a voicemail. He never called back. Meanwhile, we went to a very reputable shop that replaced the starter for half the Hendrick quote and checked everything else out. No other repairs were needed, including the most expensive one that Hendrick quoted that can't be seen by just looking under the hood. Bottom line: Hendrick charged me for work I never authorized, lied about needing a repair that I'd have no way of knowing whether they did it, and has refused to take my calls or reimburse for the illegitimate charge. In recent years I've purchased an average of more than one vehicle per year and I WILL NEVER GO TO HENDRICK AGAIN FOR ANYTHING. UPDATE: Talked to Rob, the service manager and he offered to refund the charge that I had not approved or been aware of. I did receive the refund. read more

I purchased a pair of illuminated running boards from the parts dept. I've installed numerous running boards on different vehicle but never illuminated ones. So I consulted Kao Vang (their Parts Wholesale Specialist) and he convinced me that "the wiring electrical connectors are plug and play". Basically he told me only what I needed to hear to make the sale. The installation of the wiring for the lights is so far from "plug & play" it's not even funny. Remove: front bulkhead cover, air intake, battery connections, dashboard cover (both sides), door sill trim (both sides), door seal (both sides), under cover, floor carpet (both sides), before any "plug-and-play" connections can be made. I asked Kao Vang to reimburse me for the illuminated portion (which I won't be using) or provide a return shipping label. He refused stating that the "actual electrical connection" is plug-and-play. And they will only accept a return if I pay for return shipping. Long story short - they deceived me by misleading me on the ease of installation, and they refuse to claim any fault, or work with me on a solution. This is what you call a scam. The installation manual they sent with the item clearly states "Only to be installed by a certified technician, these procedures should NOT be attempted by do-it-yourselfers". The local dealer quoted me $350 (for a $425 item) to install these because the procedure is so complex. I would not recommend Hendrick Honda Hickory to anyone. read more

Do not deal with these people. As dishonest as they come and I will be filing a complaint with their corporate office on Their Service Dept. Daryl to be specific...Was told for 2 weeks now I would be given back what I was overcharged as well as be able to cancel warranty he sold me as he misinformed me about all of it. Now all of a sudden he says that charge was for going over the car to see if I qualified for the warranty. This is I bought the warranty at the end of my service when car was already back out front and never had I authorized them or did they do this inspection because when paying the bill is when he said based on my miles I could get this warranty...and today service would even be covered by it. So first payment would be for warranty 158.00 and my bill was $131.00 I even already put that on my card so he said we will just do another charge for the 27.00 and that will equal your first warranty payment and you service is covered...and you won't have a payment of 158.00 till at least a month. Then I was charged that again by warranty company next day..I called warranty and they said they would never do warranty like that and also because I was moving which Daryl knew and also failed to tell me if not come there for work there would be a deductible and I told him I was moving out of state. He just said oh its good anywhere. So they immediatly gave me refund for the $158 and cancelled policy. When I called to ask for the $27.00 back on my card he said yes right away..didn't get it so called again and he said I will get it in right away, didn't, call again. says they couldn't put it on the card without my coming to hickory in person so they mailed me a check. Now he calls and says actually I should owe them money cause that was a charge for inspecting the car to see if I could get warranty. Experienced anxiety due to other employees trying to sell cars we were looking at to other customers while we were looking at them (instilling wonder as to how fair our offer was).
