Went here over the weekend. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted right away, which made the place feel welcoming. It is conveniently located in Terra Nova Plaza, with a large parking lot and plenty of parking near other businesses. I ordered the brown sugar milk tea with boba. The drink flavor was great, but the boba was a letdown. It was already hard and cold when I started drinking, just seconds after I received my order. That took away from what would have been a really solid drink. The decor is nice, but the shop is very small with only about two tables inside. I fell in love with R&B tea when I visited one of their old locations in Kearny Mesa. The drink that did it for us was the Oreo stormy. That's all my husband orders now. I recently tried the Thai tea stormy which was also good. I love how you can control and customize the sugar and ice level. We normally get 50% sweetness. The inside of this location is cute and quaint. There's one bench for seating inside, a standing table, a few claw machine games for little ones, and two ordering stations. One self serve kiosk and you can order directly from an employee too. Our drinks always come out fast and you can tell they use great quality tea here. This is definitely our go-to spot for boba in otay ranch. Plus you can enjoy and walk around the mall after while you sip on your drink. Cheers! read more

I am writing this review with a lot of dismay because this is absolutely a ridiculous situation. Over Memorial Day weekend, my wife and I were doing some shopping at the Otay mall, we went into R&B, and only myself got a drink for about $8. This was on Saturday May 24th. By the end of the week I had noticed on my account that they had charged me $57.78. I tried to call several times, they do not answer their phone at all. When I found time in my schedule to go back into the store, I talked to somebody who said they were an assistant manager, and when I told them the situation they said that they had had other problems with the tip amounts being increased, without the customer knowing. She called someone named Miss Ann . She texted a screenshot of the transaction on my statement to her, and I was told that she would reach out by the end of the night. She did not. I went back into the store on Friday, June 6. I was as nice as I could be as the people working there, are obviously not responsible for this, yet they protect "Miss Ann." The guy working there, his name was Noah, called her up again and she answered the phone. He apologized for bothering her and shared that I was back in the store. She knew who I was, and as the call was on Noah's speaker, I heard her say "oh, I know, I know," acting very panicked and she said "don't give him my number don't give him my number." He walked around to the edge of going into the back, and came back and said that she would call me by tonight. Again, she did not. I expect to get this resolved, but this is an incredible waste of time, and obvious error, and the manager here has no desire at the moment to communicated all, and somehow thinks I'm going to go away. I will update here to share what ends up happening. In the meantime, be aware, that they knowingly have a tip button that alters the amount of the tip, and to date have not done anything about it, so check your statements. Sadly, R&B Tea is not worth the money. My issues are with the consistency of terrible boba. I always got the large house milk tea with boba and cheese foam; the boba is typically hard and the cheese foam barely has flavor. Although, I never had a problem with the flavor of the drink, it's actually my favorite. I try to like it, especially the vibes because it smells nice and is a casual setting. Pretty good boba here. I came with my son and he ordered the strawberry stormy and I had ordered the taro stormy. I wanted less sugar since I try not to consume too much sugar and carbs. I thought it wouldn't be good but 30% less sugar was perfect to me. We both got added boba in our drinks. We used the touch screen to place the order and it came within 5 minutes. Prices are a little more expensive than other places that serve boba around here bit maybe it's because it's at the mall. Straws weren't stocked up when we came so I had to ask a worker for one. Didn't like their customer service at all. The staff must realized that their customers were the ones who put them there to earn a living, not their employer. They seemed very unhappy and they seemed to have an attitude problem. I fully understand they are tired, but they should treat their customers with courtesy and respect. My husband and I went tonight for the first time and tried the taro stormy with boba and the Vietnamese coffee. The boba lacked consistency but the taro had an okay flavor. The boba community in Chula Vista is growing, which definitely satisfies my sweet tooth. I have tried their taro stormy, matcha stormy, and lychee yakult and all drinks did not disappoint. The stormy drinks are the perfect slush -- not too icy, but did not melt quickly. Paired with their boba, which is sweet and not too chewy, makes for a great drink. If you're feeling something fruity and especially refreshing, I would suggest something from the fresh fruit tea series or the yakult series! I was waiting for my food from the Chilaquiles Place across the way and surprisingly stumbled across this tea shop. I don't know that boba pairs well with Chilaquiles, but who cares.. I wanted it anyway! I'm glad I stopped in because the mango stormy was exactly what I needed but didn't know it. A stormy is an iced-blended drink, like a smoothie. I added boba to the drink so I could assess the chewiness and flavor and I was not disappointed. There are so many drinks on their menu that sound so interesting - I will definitely try one of the teas with aloe next time, like the Lychee Green Tea with Aloe Vera. I personally love the Dragonfruit Mango Green Tea with lychee! It's so refreshing to drink and it's a perfect amount of sweetness for me. The first time I came in there I was not too impress with the smell as there was a strong cleaner or bleach smell. I definitely understand the other reviewers about R&B Tea's customer service. When my boyfriend and I first walked in we were not greeted nor was anyone in the front. The ambiance of the establishment seemed uninviting and not worth visiting. The lady that took our order was rude and snarky. R&B Tea has a sparkling series section on their menu and I was really keen on trying their sparkling drinks; but the lady said they could not accommodate or could not make the drink. As you can see, I was disappointed because there was no sign saying that they were sold out or there was an issue. The lady then proceeded to check us out but continued to be rude and snarky. As for the drink, it's alright. If you are in the room for a boba or tea shop, I highly recommend A Tea 7 - their customer service was on point and made us feel welcomed and that they actually wanted to serve us. The employees that work in both establishments looked like the same age range, so I am not sure where the attitude of the workers at R&B Tea is coming from. Anything but a basic tea/boba spot! I came here on their grand opening 6/12 to take full advantage of the BOGO free deal (thank you R&B tea!!!). I arrived less than 10 min before they opened and there was already a line outside the door! The inside of the shop is small--it's more of a order and go type of spot. I've been here several times. The boba and drink quality is fine. But I concur with the other comments about customer service. It's so bad I feel like I'm being trolled. I typically order the same thing. I stated my order and the server took it down. I corrected him because he did not include the boba. He said, "You didn't say that." Umm, I did, but even if I didn't, who cares? This isn't he said/she said. Then, when I got my drink, it was missing the boba :-) He was very exasperated that the silly customer then deigned to ask him to include the boba they'd asked for twice. Although that's an extreme example, the customer service usually isn't much better. Anyways, I have to admit that RB tea has a good variety of drinks. I have explored most of the stormy series and all of them have tasted beyond average compared to other boba stores. My friend also stated they liked thei hawaiian drink(I cant remember the name) Parking: kind of hard to get a parking spot in front of the store, but it is a mall so there's plenty of parking that are relatively a short distance to the store. Drinks: I have tried most of the stormy series and they're all pretty good. I've tried Matcha,taro, strawberry, and thai tea. Their boba is pretty good, but you can do without them tbh. Service: great. I didnt personally have an issue, but I did watch a customer ask if they could fix something for them and they fixed it with no problem. They will also take their time to go over the drinks with you. Must-try: Honestly, I like all the stormy drinks that I've tried. My favorite was taro and thai tea in second. To start, I'd say that the shop is small, with not much seating, although that hasn't been a problem for me personally, because I usually grab my drink and go. The customer service here is definitely the best part about this business, and I've had no issues with rude staff. In terms of the drinks, they have been so-so. I am a big fan of matcha, and I say the quality of their's fluctuates. I've had a sip of a friend's matcha drink once, and it was fine, but when I ordered their strawberry matcha for myself, it was bitter and hurt my throat (a thing that happens to me when I drink low-quality matcha). I'd say their avocado series has their best drinks, especially their Avocado Brown Sugar Boba Milk. Although, you may not be able to order it, because their avocados may not be ripe (that happened to me the last time I went), although it is understandable, because this is a shop that uses fresh ingredient. In terms of their toppings, their boba has been pretty standard, same with their crystal boba. Another boba shop in Otay Ranch! I welcome R&B tea to the hood because their menu is definitely it's own. While you can also find typical tea drinks like jasmine green tea, Thai tea, milk tea, oolong etc. I already know there are things on the menu that I've never heard of before like cereal milk tea, strawberry horchata and Oreo chocolate milk tea. These alone sound amazing and guarantee future trips just so I can give them a try (with boba and 50% sweetness of course!). I also know the Yakult drinks are bomb from my visit to their other location in Kearny Mesa. Not sure if they have it at every location but Otay Ranch definitely does. If you grew up drinking yakult like me you'll be amazed by their flavored Strawberry or Peach yakult drinks. So simple, so nostalgic. This location is a new one but already I can see a lot of good potential with its placement. Located at a mall where the closest boba stops either dont emphasize tea options (Nestle) or are a full 10-15 min walk to the plaza behind the mall (Sharetea, Iceskimo), I think this is perfectly convenient for those at the mall needing a tea or boba fix. Currently the set up does not have seating other than one bench to wait for your drinks but with recent COVID stuff going on, that's not really a big deal anyway. With that said, I have only tried their green tea and black tea with fruit. Both are good and I will definitely buy again. I have visited R&B Tea several times now because the kiddos like it.
