I usually don't post a lot of reviews, but feel the need to with this company. We requested mold removal and rebuild of cabinets and new counter in the kitchen. Steve Knght was pleasant to work with at first, but then became very rude, unhelpful, and not honest about costs as time went on. I lived out of town and when his quote for counters came at a significantly larger cost then he originally quoted, would not help me find a suitable replacement for a rental and only guided me to places with no pictures to use. He then CHOSE the counters without my approval and was dishonest about the cost to put them in, asking me for an additional $6k months later that somehow "wasn't on the invoice". From speaking with others in Santa Barbara this is a typical experience. If you choose him, account for 150% or so of the price he quoted you initially. My tenant is also a handyman and was inspecting his crews work. He said he had to be on top of them to mount the cabinets correctly, and somehow storage space and cabinets just disappeared. If he hadn't been onsite I think it would have been very poorly constructed. read more

QwikResponse didn't meet our expectations. We had contracted them for asbestos abatement in popcorn ceiling. During our consultation with Sean we were optimistic, he explained that they would do the project in two parts and that we would have to stay away from our apartment for three to four days during the first part, but would be able to stay there for the second part. When they had started part 2 and we wanted to go back home after work, the living room where we were supposed to stay was completely sealed off, so we had to leave with nothing but the clothes we were wearing having to find a place to stay. In total out of 14 days we were only able to spend two days at our apartment, which were inbetween the two parts. When we brought up this issue with Sean, he just didn't respond. Another problem was that from the beginning we had asked for ceiling repairs to be done after the abatement. Returning home we were stunned to find it hadn't been repaired. When reaching out to QwikResponse we were told that it hadn't been put in the estimate and that we would have to wait for a new one for them to begin the repairs. After waiting over two weeks they still didn't have a new estimate for us. What left us outraged is that there is evidence someone had been in our apartment while we were at work without us knowing and only QwikResponse had access to our spare key. After that we canceled our services with them. read more

We were away on vacation, and when we returned we found our entire house had been flooded from a broken feed line to the back of a toilet. We got in touch with Qwik Response through a referral from a friend and we are SO GLAD WE DID. They arrived within 2 hours of our call and worked for several days removing 3000 sq feet of wood flooring as well as all the drywall up to about 3 feet. Their employees are excellent and very hard and skilled workers, as well as being great people. It took 14 days with about two dozen heated fans and air scrubbers to dry out the portion of the house affected by the flooding. I give them my highest rating in every category and strongly recommend anyone with an emergency such as ours, or any really, to call the great people at Qwik Response over any other company available here in Santa Barbara. THEY ARE THE BEST and their 'quick response' to our situation was the sole reason that mold didn't start growing that would have caused much more serious damage since most insurance (ours too) has very limited coverage for mold. We are on the road to getting our house back thanks to them!!! read more

Steve and team saved our bacon when we had an unknown water issue at our house, which of course happened on a Friday at 6 pm when all other contractors are done for the week. They were prompt, knowledgeable, professional, and completely unflappable. I was out of town and they took care of everything. Multiple issues with this company. First, they sublet out the work (at least in my case) to local contractors. The communication then has to go through multiple channels, which makes coordination more difficult. Secondly, and more importantly, when a problem arose the gentleman who works for this company came over to our business to argue that we were in the wrong, not them. The job they were hired to do was a clean up after a fire between 2 businesses. One is no longer in business, the other (ours) is. We were told they would bring a container to the site and put it in the corner to load the debris and not disrupt our daily business. We accommodated that by making room for the container. A day or so before they were due here they changed that plan to having a large truck on the premises instead of the dumpster. We agreed, but asked to have the truck in the same spot that was made for the dumpster, thus not disturbing our business. The day of the work they not only took the available space for the truck with their employee vehicles, but also parked the dump truck directly in front of our business, blocking access to areas of need. The tractor they brought in to remove the debris damaged our parking lot, as well as, hit our air compressor rupturing a pipe. When contacted about the issues, the Quik response representative came over and rudely argued we were in the wrong for being upset. Then the subleted contractor came over and told us "oh well, we are so busy we don't care if we upset someone." The whole thing was handled very poorly and the company seemed more put out they had a complaint than interested in rectifying it. I would not recommend anyone use this company. read more

My experience with this company is negative. A man came out on Friday for an odor problem I have from animals that had been under the house. He looked around and said he would send me an estimate for remediation Monday or Tuesday. Nothing. I called the following Friday and a woman at the office put me on hold while she talked with him. She said he would send me the estimate tomorrow and he would call me. Nothing. I guess if they decide they don't want your business they just give you the brush off. These people cost us our house. I didn't think QwikResponse was still in business after they took almost $100,000 from us and ran with it. Our house caught fire due to an electrical short and while thankfully no one was hurt, it was quite the disaster. QwikResponse was recommended to us through USAA, and at their behest, we took out a second mortgage to fix everything. They proceeded to gut half the house and asked for the second half of the contract amount. As soon as they got their hands on the money, we never heard from them again. We were left with a ruined, uninhabitable home. It was supposed to be our retirement home! Because of these people, we ended up not being able to afford it anymore and it was foreclosed on. I will never recommend them to anyone ever. read more

It turned out to be a false alarm (just algae that could be easily cleaned) and Jason let my tenants know how to clean it and passed on some helpful information on how to prevent growth in the future. This owner came to the Montecito Association, pitching his company, and his business. We called and set up an appointment for them to come out and bid on a kitchen reconstruction due to water damage. We had an appointment. The morning of the appointment we called to verify we were still on and confirm the appointment time. We were told yes the appointment is good and their person (the owner) would meet us at the job site. We waited 30 minutes past the appointment time then called their office and were told the owner was still in the office and would be late. Duh! We told them that since we're starting off this way, we were not interested in using them. This was a very disappointing experience as other companies responded and were very professional. read more

I have had the bad fortune of having been in need of restoration services for mold and water damages several times in the past year due to various incidents. I have had the excellent fortune of having Qwik Response around to help! Throughout the various stages of the repairs to our home, they have always been prompt, courteous, knowledgeable, and helpful. I was referred to QwikResponse by my insurance company. From day one they were uncooperative. According to the workers they sent to my home, they hire temporary unskilled workers and give them a couple of hours training. Both of the lead workers were combative and blamed me for their communication failures. When I stood up for myself and my needs, they quit. They removed items from my home and didn't put them back. And they damaged goods in my home and refused to take responsibility. Beware. read more

I am having problems with them. They were referred to me by my insurance carrier to fix fire damage on an apartment building I own. Their sales guy (Kevin) assured me this was a standard job which they do all the time and it would be done in two months and not cost me anything other than my insurance deductible. Almost a year later it is still not done. Kevin and the owner (Steve Knight) apologized several times for the delay but more troubling, they keep finding "dry rot" which is not covered by insurance and which I need to pay for separately. I reluctantly agreed to pay for the extra cost of the dry rot and they started work again only to call me again and say they found more dry rot and which would cost me even more. I don't trust them and I am not happy. I feel like my disaster started when I hired them. Cannot recommend them. read more

My ceiling started leaking during one of our crazy storms last month. I didn't have anyone that had been recommended to me so I ended up calling Quik Response after seeing one of their trucks. Jason was my person of contact and he was a lifesaver. I've never had to deal with insurance and all this stuff, and he helped me all along the way. He was honest in his recommendations and wasn't trying to make any extra money off me! They were out here the very next day, immediately helped me deal with my homeowners insurance, and due to the age of my home, ordered asbestos testing. Asbestos testing and results were here the next day. If it wasn't for my homeowners insurance adjuster lagging on his end, abatement would've been here the next day I'm sure. The minute we got the ok from the adjuster, the abatement started. They ended up running into bigger problems that would have caused much more money out of pocket, but were able to work with my budget while making sure that my house was safe to live in. They were finished with the project earlier than planned which is always a good thing. I honestly could not recommend Quik Response enough. They, and especially Jason, have made this debacle as pain free as possible. Five stars!! read more

I worked as a sub for this co. Had new contracts printed & they didn't print the the info on the back that is required to protect both parties. I pointed this out to Quik response & he refused to let me rewrite the contract. They came back later & tried to blame me for damage on the rock walls & scratches on the existing concrete. I had taken pictures before we started or I would have had to fix these areas. I don't trust them & won't work for them again. read more

Qwik Response was, in fact, very responsive to an emergency water leak that occurred in our home while were out of the country. Despite the time difference and the difficulties with various communicating methods - they were responsive and got to correcting the problems quickly. They were knowledgeable and professional and had the right equipment. Due to the long distance and the complication of a second leak occurrence there was a gap in service. When that got straightened out they quickly corrected the remaining repair work. I found their contractors for repair work very knowledgeable and competent. read more

I cannot recommend this company. They appear to be in business to create more business for themselves. We had a minor plumbing leak - clean water - that flowed under a wall and got a small area of carpeting wet. It was recommended that we call someone to make sure things were dried out properly. A project manager came and gave an estimate, which quickly escalated. Their 'moisture readers' appear to be very inaccurate - what was moist one day read totally dry the next. After finding some minor mold on the interior of a wall surface, they were ready to rip out a bathtub, tile surround, and bathroom floor, all to 'chase the mold'. The wall in question did not even back up to the bathtub. The project manager did not follow up - I needed to chase him. After more than two weeks, we still did not have a complete scope of work or timeline for repairs. Not quick, not responsive. Luckily I found one of their competitors who got in quickly and resolved everything within three days. read more
