I've had two unrelated interactions with Korling and I will say that I was very satisfied with both. First time I needed a second bid on a bathroom and he was incredibly responsive and supportive. The only downside was that I did not use him for my bathroom jobs especially considering how stellar they were on the second job. Since he was so helpful on the first bid I decided to call him to get my kitchen redone. He was honest, responsive and educational throughout the entire process. First, he laid out the bid and stayed on budget. He even helped me save some money by advising me on a few design aspects that were superfluous. After the bid and contract signing he laid out a time line. He was able to stick with the time line and went above and beyond to help get the project done on schedule. Most importantly his work was stellar. Not only am I impressed and stoked about my new kitchen he has an overall good nature that had me feeling secure throughout the project. I live in an older condo/apartment complex with some particular issues related to the building. Korling was able to navigate the issues, think creatively and generally problem solved pretty easily. His communication is great and when there were problems or uncertainty he made sure to communicate the issues or hear any I had. He made great effort to clear up any misunderstanding or miscommunications and we would come to a satisfying resolution to get the job complete and beautiful. TLDR; Amboy has a poor attitude and customer service, if that is the case, I couldn't imagine working with this person throughout the entire job. Over a year ago, Amboy came to the house for one visit to provide a quote for an ADU and main house remodel. The initial reaction we felt was that he didn't want to be there in the first place. As we walked the house to explain what we were thinking he sounded demanding in saying things can't be done this way while other contractors have said otherwise like a bathroom expansion. Ultimately we didn't get a quote from Amboy, and can't remember if it wasn't a follow through on both sides so I will let that go. Fast forward to today, we are wrapping up the ADU and wanted to reach out to new contractors for a refreshed quote. I had an assistant reach out to Amboy for a quote and completely forgot that we've been in contact before. But after todays conversation I'm not surprised I forgot about Amboy. My assistant scheduled some time for a meeting today. Getting on the call with him, he said that he started to remember us because of the challenges in permit and also cost. However, I don't remember the cost because we didn't get the quote (but again not sure who didn't follow up or not). We didn't have a quote so we requested that he come back and re quote for today. He mentioned that he'll come again and "waste his time". Not sure what response you would expect from me after saying that. I didn't raise my voice or call names or anything but tried clarifying that we just needed a quote and would like him to come back. Also, he said "wasting times"more than once as well. I asked him to clarify this and told him "I wouldn't want him to come if he felt this way", and then he hung up lol. Honestly we just needed a quote, don't tell us that you have workers that are $800 for a day. That doesn't tell me how long it will take and how I would budget for what is an entire home remodel. A water pipe broke in our downstairs room and made a huge mess. The ceiling was very damaged after the plumbing repair was completed and we had difficulty finding someone to fix it.
