I hired Mayan Construction for a landscaping project that involved removing an old patio and then…read moreinstalling pavers. There was also a retaining wall that needed to be removed and replaced. For the first 90% of the job I'd say they did a decent job. The problem was with the finishing details. It's almost as if they finished 98% of the work and then didn't show to complete the rest of it. I asked them to return to my house and was told by Bryan that they would come back, but I never saw them again. I'm talking like a day of work to complete this stuff, if that. They left multiple pieces of rebar sticking out of concrete. I have kids and the last thing I want is for them to get hurt on sharp pieces of rebar. I also don't have the tools to cut the rebar myself. They had a sub come by and replace our aluminum gutters. There was one downspout that connected to an ugly piece of pvc pipe for drainage. I asked them to come back and remove the pvc pipe to make it look cleaner. They said they'd come back, but never did. I asked them to come back and fill in gaps that were left between the pavers, but again nothing was done. There was a sewer clean out that was left protruding above the paver patio too. I don't think I'd hire this company again to do any construction work at my house.

Common knowledge, when walking around trucks of any kind don't assume they can see you. didn't your mother teach you look both ways before crossing the street? Same goes for a parking lot. Assume these work trucks have limited visibility. You have the audacity to give a company a one-star Yelp review because you can't look where you're going? And as for the fellow that complained about the poor fit, and knowing it was a poor fit prior to D.D. Ford meeting with him. As a courtesy, he could at least given them a better review for their time. Small companies rely on these reviews to help attract new business. I doubt the service they did provide cost you anything.

Showed up at the promised time, rebuilt the water-damaged deck better than before (improved design, flashing and caulking), and sent a "no-surprises" invoice (based on time-and-materials, since we didn't bother asking for a quote after the two great jobs in the past). Based on earlier conversations, verbal and via email, which at first made them seem helpful, one can only surmise they didn't think there was enough money in it. Even though they charge a high minimum. They wasted my time and probably will waste your time as well. This disdainful and disrespectful attitude towards potential customers should dissuade anyone from considering using this company. There are plenty of other Handyman services that are legit and truly helpful.
