Upon entering- you notice most how clean everything looks. This is awesome because us Latinos/as eat with our eyes. At first when I came I thought it was Puerto Rican food. Then I saw the Chivo (goat) on the menu board and heard the calming bachata music on the tv on the wall and I thought to ask the owner if this was Dominican food. It turns out it is Dominican food with a touch of Puerto Rican dishes! The best of both worlds! Additionally- the food is not set up cafeteria style like a lot of Spanish restaurants- The food is under heat lamps behind the counter. For some people that's off putting because they assume it's not fresh or tastes like it is has been sitting under the lamps for days - not so! Everything is fresh and amazing! They have all the classics; yellow rice and gandules, white rice, habichuelas rosada, pernil, baked chicken. They have quite a few of guisadas (stews) to pick from all loaded with onions, peppers etc; chicken, pork, beef, oxtail, as well as viandes. They have empanadas, alcapurrias, sorrullitos de maiz, rellenos de papa (potato balls) in a smaller case. My favorite is the goat aka the Chivo. It is so fall apart tender -I've had it three times already! The young gentleman behind the counter has always waited on me. He is super polite, quick to smile and humors my bad Spanglish with none of the pretentious ways that I have experienced in other Spanish restaurants. This is really important to me because it tells me of the love that they have for their food and the respect that they have for their customers. I've come in on different times of day and the food is always fresh tasting. Prices are very reasonable for the portions. During this last visit my husband had their pasteles. Oh so good! They also had sancocho. - I've asked the owners and they said that their business is steadily picking up. They are working on getting money for advertising. Most of their traffic comes from word of mouth There is another Spanish restaurant in Chicopee that has a similar name-(Sabor Latino) -but I very much feel that the cooking style are night and day. No insult is meant to Sabor as they really are two different types of food in my humble opinion. I really hope this small business owner is able to make it. Latino(a) restaurants turn over a lot in Western Mass. I hope this one stays!

I was in CT for 6 days this past Christmas season, and we had Danny's grinders three times. THREE. They're all good, honestly, but I was really struck by the Chicken Parm and Eggplant Parm. Get them with onions and peppers - I know it sounds a little weird, but red onions and roasted red peppers really make it. They cram a TON of stuff into the bread, and the bread is crispy outside and soft inside. I did get to try the roast beef, the Italian combo, and the Tuna, and I will say the toasted subs are definitely the best. You really can't go wrong though. The other nice thing is that they are 16" long - sometimes 6" (or 12" if you're really hungry) doesn't do it. And while they're best fresh, reheated is better than anything else I can get back home. Go big, get it toasted, and enjoy. I'll be jealous.

However, this is a bakery that you come to for bread. A $2 loaf of homemade bread that will bring your own sandwich at home to a higher level of happiness. There are two types of loaves made here. Try both. Both are yummy. My office often does our own panini parties. We bring in the panini grill and ham and cheese, etc. and buy 6 loaves of bread from Old San Juan Bakery. Bread. Go get it.
