Staff completely ignored us for 15 min. Sat ourselves, was looked at by 3 seperate people, all completely ignored us. Not one "Hello", not one "We'll be right with you" Not one " here's a menu" - Nothing. I should add the place was EMPTY - only a few people outside and 2 at the bar. I finally asked someone if they were just not serving and he acted annoyed and said, oh, and started to look for a menu... needless to say we left. Sometimes a restaurant's kids menu just puts together favorite dishes for kids. You expect the kids to eat it because it tastes good... but that's it. My GF and I wanted to try something new tonight so we went towards Oakland for its fantastic food scene. Very happy to have given Quinn's Lighthouse a try tonight. I'll start off by saying the restaurant had easy access as the road it's on offers plenty of curbside parking during business hours. The building offers downstairs and upstairs seating. The inside feels historical, but very well maintained. This includes cleanliness. I don't think I touch any sticky surfaces including the menu I handled. We sat outdoors and watched the sunset (view of the harbor and city is beautiful). Word of caution, I don't think the outdoor seating is heated so put on layers if you want to enjoy the view outside. Staff was attentive and hospitable. The bartender, Bianca, was so nice! Her personality and service created a memorable experience I'd like to share in the future with my friends. My GF is picky when it comes to alcoholic drinks, however, Bianca was spot on with her suggestions. I don't think I've ever seen her enjoy a cocktail as much as she did tonight. The food!! I had the mozzarella sticks and fried fish sandwich. Maaaan... you've gotta try it. Delicious and crisp. Every bite was pleasing. Quinn's is open under new ownership, and the food is terrific! Larry is an experienced restauranteur, so I have faith that that this will be a successful venture. You can get hamburgers and fish and chips and clam chowder, but now also a selection of Vietnamese dishes. I had the beef and lemongrass sandwich, and loved it! The location is everything. Right on the water w a great view. There's no one to really greet you so you kinda just walk upstairs and hope someone seats you and then hope someone remembers to take your order. The service kind of seemed all over the place. The poor servers had to use their phones as tablets and it seems they can come up with a better system for the employees. The food was everything we were looking for. To fuel up before a night of drinking. The oysters were good somewhere I could definitely go to get oysters again. They had a caper/brine salsa to pair and it was very good. The lemongrass clams were fresh but lacked flavor so maybe try the New England clams. The eggs rolls were crunchy with alittle kick. Spring rolls were refreshing and peanut butter sauce was creamy with out being overpowering. The prices are great for the amount of food you get. Quinn's has the flavor and ambiance that a harbor cafe/bar should have - authentic seafood lovers and alcohol-drinking 'sailors'. Being a Navy vet and long-ago resident of Alameda and Oakland, 'back in the 60's'; I recalled walking these piers adjacent to Quinn's with my wife and kids. I really really want to like this place. When I read that it was under me management, I jumped at the chance to give it another try. I was very disappointed. 1. When we went upstairs, no one was there to greet us or seat us. We finally seated ourselves. 2. It took the waiter a very long time to bring the menu and water. 3. What is advertised on the menu is not what you send up getting when the food arrives. For example, they say the rice plate comes with broken rice, but it came with regular rice. The garlic noodles with tofu are just vegetables chow mein. There is no garlic taste in the dish. The popcorn shrimp mostly contains squid and not shrimp. 4. We were basically ignored after the food came out. My kids accidentally asked a customer for a water refill. 5. When asked if there was an extra charge for a credit card, he said no, but when the printout came, there was a surcharge for credit cards. We only had 4 people in our group, and they added 18% mandatory tips to the bill. There's nothing written anywhere in the menu or in the restaurant regarding this policy. If you want authentic Vietnamese food, go somewhere else. Only street parking. read more

We (boyfriend and dog) visited this restaurant on a Saturday around 5 or 6 pm, restaurant didn't seem busy or packed, so we walk in I was carrying my dog a small 6 pound Yorkie who is my baby. Anyway we walk in and we are greeted (not very enthusiastic) by a gentleman and immediately I sensed the energy and proceeded to tell me dogs are not allowed, I then proceeded to tell him he is a registered service animal ESA and showed his license plaque to which he just continued to tell me again in a very unfriendly tone that the dog needed to be on a leash and just stood there, I told him I have one and showed him, he doesn't say a thing and just repeats himself in the same tone "dog must be on leash" I then just put it on and he then proceeds to give us directions on where to go as we wanted outside seating. We get upstairs onto the patio and proceed to sit down, soon after our server comes out and gives us menus, we then proceeded to order, soon after out food comes out I ordered a Fish sandwich, first impression was its size, HUGE! So far things are good as food is delicious, drinks were good as well and we are enjoying the view and the good time, Julio my dog had a hamburger patty that he loved and devoured, so I'm happy. Boyfriend is happy with his food too, during this feast we are never again approached by the server again, she is the only server out on the patio with 4 tables to serve we understand and don't bother her, I didn't finish my food as again the gargantuan serving was a tad too much for me, specially at dinner time. We flag the server as I need a box, she brings us a box and check and we thank her for her services. Overall for a first time It left a bitter taste in my mouth as of the first impression with the host or person not so enthusiastically greeted us, I can say I'm used to getting that treatment when carrying my dog, It's the approach that makes it uncomfortable but I can't go around schooling people on how to approach someone walking into an establishment with an animal, anyway, food was delicious and servings were perfect, food tasted fresh and drinks were on point. Only tip I'd give management is a bit of information for their employees to be more friendly and to ask individuals if the animal they have with them is a service animal instead of immediately denying entrance to their establishment, and for them to remember that whoever they have at the entrance is a representation of such establishment, and it can set the tone to a good or a mediocre experience. read more

Came to Quinn's for Thanksgiving tonight. It did not disappoint. Easy parking. Stunning dining room. Amazing sunset views. Massive wine and draught beer list with generous pours. Huge menu with many appetizer and main course choices. My wife chose the surf and turf. Delicious tomato sauce covering the prawns with zucchini, mushrooms. The rib eye steak was perfectly cooked rare as requested. Accompanied with asparagus and well roasted potatoes. I had the traditional Turkey dinner served with a vegetable stuffing, mashed yams and fresh string beans. Turkey serving was more than satisfying with abundant portions of both light and boneless dark meat. We shared a wonderful crème brûlée desert served with lady fingers and fresh strawberries. Leave it for a 100 year old restaurant / bar to stay open even during a pandemic crisis. Their gorgeous water view, specially during a warm sunset is hard to beat. We came to test the food, not so much the drink menu, however the establishment does have a full bar. We got the clam chowder, a bucket of clams in sauce, The food was nice too but the clam chowder was too thick and the sour side of things. The clams were great (but if you like mussels, one can ask for that only too or a mix of the two). Easy parking. The ambiance at Quinn's is delightful. During COVID they pretty much shut down the first floor, so you have to go up to the 2nd floor nowadays. This is fine, as the view of the marina up there is better. During the warm days, its great to sit out on the balcony. The drinks here are affordable. The service is okay. My wife and I were staying up the street and found this place. We were eating a very early dinner so it wasnt crowded at all. When we got upstairs to the dinning area we were greeted and told to sit wherever we wanted. There was patio sitting overlooking the docks but it was really hot so we sat inside. The server greeted us quickly and took our drink orders. He was very friendly and funny. After taking our meal orders he asked us how our days were going and made poliet small talk. When our food came out it was very hot still. The fish was excellent as was the slaw. The portion was quite good as was the price. Overall a very pleasant experience. I haven't been to Quinns Lighthouse in a while though it is a local fixture. It has the nicest waterfront patio where you can enjoy a nice meal and watch the boats. I recently visited Quinns and discovered a "new to me" management. I must say the food was a delicious Asian Fusion fair, the taps where well curated, and the staff were very very nice. Often local fixtures are still visited because the views are great even if the overall may seem tired. Quinn's Lighthouse got a new lease on life and I look forward to going back soon! read more

Been here a few times, always with the work crew. We normally finish up our team meetings here because of great service, scenery, and convenience (nearby work location). Portions here are large and the seafood is fresh, except for their catfish. You can taste that freshness in their salmon, like they just caught it off their pier. My favorite sandwich is their Broiled Salmon, served with tartar sauce and fries. This sandwich is open-faced with a generous cut of salmon belly, lettuce and tomato. I ate it the best way ...deconstructed. Their fish and chips plate would not disappoint in the quantity department. A fan favorite for sure with a full platter of fries, slaw, and a humongous crispy thin slice of white fish. On our last visit, my coworker complained about little to no clams in her chowder. And my other coworker said he had better. The Gilroy Hamburger was overcooked but the taste was satisfactory. This thick burger is the same size as their Great Big Burger (10 oz). The only difference about the Gilroy is the sourdough garlic bread, which was a huge plus. Fries are average, and of course, best when hot! read more

We got off to a rough start but the night was quickly saved by our gracious host David and the support staff. The bread was warm and delicious! We ordered the clam chowder, Boogaloo shrimp and sausage and the cioppino and closed the night out with the cheesecake. The clam chowder was thick and delicious with all the right ingredients! The shrimp and sausage were zesty and plenteous. The cioppino was spoon after spoon of comforting delight! The cheesecake was creamy and delicious and we finished it off with smiles! The entree portions were plentiful and we even had some to bring home for the next day. The staff get a A+ and the chef gets an A+! A wonderful dinner experience. We have been to Quinn's many times before but this time noticed things we had missed in the past: like the mermaid tank and the Statue of Liberty and other decorations on the wall. The room had a nice buzz of energy and the music was soft and enjoyable. We exchanged ideas on menu choices with a table nearby. Everyone was friendly and in a good mood. Came here on a Monday night and the vibe was... unique. It's a beautifully decorated space with lots of cool artwork and maritime flags. Such a gorgeous view at sunset and we got a nice corner table outside. The beer was good, service was good too. Friendly, timely. I ordered fish and chips, my girlfriend ordered the mussels. Both were delicious. The reason it gets 3 stars is because my Cole slaw, which I was thankfully saving for last, had a HUMONGOUS bug crawl out of it. It didn't fall in from outside, it crawled out from the bottom of the Cole slaw and was covered in mayonnaise, so it had been there a long time. The bug was about an inch and a half long and had big wings. Not a cockroach or any other pest I'm used to seeing in kitchens. It was GNARLY and ruined my appetite. I was offered a free dessert but I opted to just get my beer comped instead. So I don't know. Take that as you will. Just over the Park Street Bridge from Alameda is a hidden gem seafood restaurant. There are not too many seafood restaurants that are on the water anymore. Alameda has Pier29 and Pasta Pelican. Stay far away from there unless you just want a cocktail. The ambiance walking up to Quinn's Lighthouse is that of no other. There are cute little cottages walking up with statues and ocean bell bouy's. You can sit down on one of the few benches and smell the salt air and relax. Inside upon walking in, you get the feeling you stepped back in time with the knotty pine walls and the nautical wall art. Where are the pirates? Arrrrrggg. haha. It was a nice day so we asked for a table outside. Seagulls yelping ,views of the water and boats on the docks. So peaceful! Servers were courteous and attentive. The food was excellent! We had a calamari appetizer. A+ (crispy lightly floured & seasoned!) The roast beef sandwich with aju was outstanding! Loaded with roast beef and very thick. It has been a while *years since I dined at Quinn's Lighthouse. Best Advice and Recommendation: Deck view dining, the view of the Oakland marina overlooking Coast guard island and it did not disappoint. The slight breeze from the water created a cool ambiance during our dinner.  PLEASE NOTE: Be patient with your Server. The restaurants are recovering from the Covid19 and coming out of mandatory closures. If your menus, drinks, foods, desserts take longer than normal, know that they are probably short staff- not fully staff yet.  Our drinks: Mimosa, glass of Beringer Zinfandel and 21st Amendment Ale. A great way to start our Thursday Happy Hour. We ordered from the appetizer section of their menu. 2 plates of the Monterey Deep Fried Calamari- coated in a super crispy, crunchy shell, dipped in a little marinara or aioli. Can't go wrong with deep fried deliciousness. Second plate of appetizer choice was Quinn's Nacho Chip Platter with chicken. It looked delicious but the cheese had set in too long and it hardened by the time it arrived at our table. The chicken came in big chunks-that we had to cut them in smaller pieces and spread them all over the nachos. The toppings were not evenly spread between the layers of chips, it was primarily on top. The chicken chunks were a bit overcooked. We finished off with desserts: chocolate cake a la mode and creme brulee. The chocolate cake was rich, very sweet but it was on the dry side. The creme brulee was ordered by my coworker and she said that it was delicious.  As we were leaving, we heard at the table that it was still Happy Hour, why were not offered the Happy Hour menu?. We did see on the website there was a Happy Hour Pub Menu. Are they offered only if we were inside and not available for the outside diners? On oldie but a goodie. We had an impromptu get-together at Quinn's Lighthouse. The food, I highly recommend the seafood, was fresh and tasty. The fried calamari was crisp and greaseless. The fish and chips were generous and fresh. Everyone loved their drinks, kudos to the bartender. The water person was always refilling our glasses. Our server was honest and said, just pick two or three choices and I will steer you towards the right one. He was on-point; for all 12 of us that were there. The bread was delicious and served right after we ordered. The mussels were fresh and perfectly cooked. He recommended the Dinky Doo Seafood Stew. The bread was broiled and crisp which helps soak up the tomato broth. It was seasoned well and the scallops, shrimps, fish, and mussels were all fresh and tender. Not an overcooked prawn or scallop. I did not try the fried raviolis but everyone else seemed to enjoy them. Patience is needed as they are still having staffing issues but with lotsof friends, time passed quickly. While we were there, another table had a HAPPY celebration; so give a local institution a visit. The location is stunning and parking can be found across the street on Embarcadero. read more

We always enjoy coming to Quinn's. My husband is working his way around the menu. So far, the Pasta Balboa is his favorite. He likes their Jambalaya, too. Our son didn't care for the Fresh Clam Pasta. He said the sauce was thin and bland. 4 stars because the service and the food portions aren't consistent. Came back here for a business lunch. A great setting. Service was really good. The clam chowder however, is super thick I think a lot of flour almost like a paste. There wasn't enough clams so hardly any clam flavor. I would not order this again. The fish and chips is a large order. Mostly french fries. The coleslaw is outstanding. A nice slightly sweet and tangy dressing. the fish pieces are also large. The batter was not starchy which was a plus. It was crunchy but the fish a little dry. Huge props to Quinn's for being open for peeps not celebrating the holiday in the traditional sense, either by choice or circumstance. I haven't been to Quinn's for like too many years; Fridays after work to have drinks and peanuts. I heard the place had reopened with new owners so a friend and I went. We shared a beef and lemongrass Vietnamese sandwich. The bread was so soft and yummy. I did miss a kick not finding a jalapeno pepper. Another dish was pork chops, rice with a green vegetable salad which was tasty as well. I'll go back. The restaurant seemed the same as I used to visit. The upstairs pub also seems the same and they said they are renovating the deck Parking is across the street. Don't turn into the driveway towards the restaurant unless you see a spot right away. read more
