The restaurant does not have an indoor dining area, but there are some tables outside that you can sit and eat at. On Mondays, they have a single burger special. It really draws people in and packs the place. They pretty much only have burgers and fries. I got the bacon western burger. It took them about 8 minutes to prepare. The burger was ok. It did not live up to the hype. I liked that I could taste the flame-broiled flavor, but it also had a frozen-patty taste. The fries were also not up there with the best that I have had. Was I able to eat my food? Yes... but it just did not rank up there with the better burgers I have had. This would not be my go-to spot for burgers. I would more than likely find a different burger joint to satisfy my craving.

The folks running the ordering and pickup windows always seem to be friendly regardless of the weather. We have never had anything but really good experiences in Ankeny. The orders are accurate and they are courteous! As far as ambiance it's primarily a drive through ordering restaurant on a very busy corner! They do offer some outdoor seating with umbrellas for shade, and there is a walk up window for ordering if you don't want to drive through. When it's busy it's hard to get to a parking spot however. Pro tip! Monday night is the night to go if you want a smoking deal and the same good quality, they have a single 1/4 burger for $2.18. It's a fantastic deal, and they don't substitute it for a lesser quality burger. It's the same thing just a lot less expensive!

I ordered the Pit Master Sandwich with a side of French onion soup (you get to choose a side with the sandwich). The sandwich was really good! The bread was buttery and soft, and the homemade croutons in the soup were clearly made from fresh bread. The French onion soup wasn't for me--it kind of tasted like acid reflux to me, so I gave it to my mom. She actually thought it was pretty good. The sandwich had perfectly balanced barbecue sauce and cheese, although I thought the barbecue sauce overpowered the cheese a bit. Next time, I'd probably order it without the cheese. The brisket was good, but I would've preferred a fattier cut because I think it would have been more flavorful. I also wasn't a fan of the Gouda since it didn't melt very well, but the other cheese on the sandwich was delicious. Overall, the food was incredible, and this place is an absolute MUST if you're in the area! I noticed they have around 78,000 DoorDash orders, and after eating here, I can definitely see why. I'll actually be coming back in a few days before I leave my vacation because there are so many other delicious items on the menu that I can't wait to try! Staff were also nice!

They have a celiac button to warn staff to be extra careful and even have gluten sensitive desserts including: cookies, donuts, scones, and slices of cake everyday. I will say I am disappointed about finding out the breakfast potatoes are not gluten free. I only recently found out and have now figured out that I have been glutening myself off and on since July 3rd. I did have one major screwup a few weeks ago too. I did a pickup order for the quinoa powerbowl. The cook substituted my quinoa for couscous even though my food was marked celiac. Only figured it out after taking a bite. Couscous is apparently new to the fall menu. I really wish the food allergen training was better done in staff training. No person seems to have the same training on the safety and what food allergens are in what food. This was what I thought was a safe place for me which is why I have continued to come. I now take extra caution when I do stop. Today was good. I grabbed a Baja chicken rice bowl, no pepper jack or ranch.
