I recently was visiting from Florida to the Okabogi area of Iowa and stopped at a Kwik Star location (Store #1259). I had never had such great service provided at this type of store. Phancie, Mariana and Amanda went out of their way to provide memorable and great customer service and assistance. Kudos to Kwik Star! read more

I love these stores! Open 24/7/365! I'm so glad Casey's put one of their stores up in the LaCrosse Wisconsin area! It prompted the Kwik Star chain to build down here! I've been here several times, with the first purchase being their wonderful chicken tenders, like they cut up a chicken breast and breaded it. Wonderful. I've also gotten MANY other products from here since then. I've visited the stores around 80 times in 3 months. I do love the place. Friendly staff. Family friendly. Clean. Great bathrooms even! I LOVE this place. Best gas prices in the area, best quality and value car wash in the universe, Their dunkers and glazers are legendary. But the piece-de-resistance would be their chicken.....fried or rotisserie...either one is absolutely superior! Add to it that the store help is always nice, helpful and handing out free samples, this place is simply the model for what a C-Store should aspire to be. read more

Okay you guys. As strange as this may sound, this gas station/mini mart has the absolute best FRIED CHICKEN in the State of Iowa. And yes, I have always had a super huge affection for some great fried chicken and homemade mashed potatoes. To be honest, I almost wish I hadn't heard about this place. My husbands coworkers all were raving about their made to order, freshly prepared chicken, and one day we decided to see for ourselves. Oemgee, y'all this chicken was perfectly cooked. Crispy on the outside and super moist inside. That is how it's supposed to be. For under $6, (3) all white meat chicken tenders and homemade mashed potatoes with gravy on top, you've got yourself a very satisfying lunch! The seasoning is spot on, not overly seasoned that just doesn't suit me anymore. Right amount in all capacities. Not only is this place super clean, well presented, the staff are the kind of people you wish you could meet every single day. The ladies had a sample stand out the day we stopped in, offering us a sample of their beef cheesesteak melts. Oh my word! Delicious. The atmosphere is inviting, a thousand times better than your normal "gas station"! To say I am impressed would be an utter understatement. I hope the GM of this location off HWY 141, reads this and gives his staff a big pat on the back because they more than are providing the absolute best customer service I've seen in a similar setting in the past 20+ years of living in Iowa ###trythatChicken P.S. reasonable prices and you can call ahead and have a bucket of chicken ready to take home with you on nights you'd rather not cook! read more

Having moved from Wisconsin to Iowa, I missed Kwik Trip stores. While Caseys, (which pretty much owns the market in Iowa) is a pretty good alternative, they fall far short of the selection and service of Kwik Star/ Kwik Trip. Couple a great selection of ready to eat foods and snacks with very helpful and friendly employees, and you have a winner. 39 cents a pound bananas, onions and potatoes. Cheap bread and rolls. Fantastic selection of beverages. Good coupon offers and sales (.39 eggs and 1.99 butter the other day). The employees are extremely friendly and helpful, the store is really kept clean. This a great addition to the area. read more

Sadly, their highly advertised fried chicken is among the worst I have ever tried. The white meat is dry and all of it is so salty that it's inedible, yet salt is the only flavor that it has. Terrible! read more

I had a most unpleasant encounter at the Kwick Star on Gateway street in Grimes. I went in to purchase a rib sandwich and got some ice in the smallest cup they had (smaller than a little buddy). When I went to pay the cashier, Ian, charged me 49 cents for the ice. I was appalled and indicated I was making a purchase from the store, so there should be no charge for the tiny cup of ice. I also said that I have gotten a small cup of ice at the Kwick Star on 72nd Street store in Grimes when I have made purchases there before. That store told me as long as I was purchasing items from the store the ice was free - which makes sense. Ian wouldn't budge however, so I slide the small cup of ice to him, told him to throw it away, and paid for the rib sandwich. As I ate the sandwich in my car, I grew upset that a business would sacrifice a customer for a tiny cup of ice and went back in talked to the assistant manager, Kim. I took Kim back to the fountain area and pointed out their smallest cup, explained I got some ice, picked up a rib sandwich and went to pay and got charged for the ice!!! I asked her what kind of business savvy was that - sacrificing a purchasing customer for a small glass of ice??? She went on to explain that was policy and I asked her why the Kwick Star up the street and the one next to Home Depot doesn't enforce the same policy when dealing with a purchasing customer. After much back and forth she agreed to give me a "complimentary" tiny cup of ice. This is the last time I will every shop there. When this business gives more credence to a cup of ice rather that appreciate a paying customer, the business common sense is lost. read more

Clean. Phenomenal prices. Friendly. Great business model - knows how to keep customers returning

My first experience with Kwik Star was at the one near Brooklyn, IA...just off of I-80. It was a very pleasant visit. Later, I discovered the Kwik Star in Cedar Rapids, IA...near the airport. Another very pleasant visit. Since those visits, I've been a regular customer of the Tobacco Outlet Plus on Merle Hay Rd....which is also owned/operated by Kwik Star/Kwik Trip. I'm so excited that full service stores have opened in Grimes, IA & Altoona, IA. Kwik Star/Kwik Trip stores are better than Casey's General Stores, Kum & Go Stores and Quik Trip stores. They have quality fuel, more selections in their stores, and the nicest employees. If you haven't been yet, you must...you will not regret it. Remember...it's Kwik Star/Kwik Trip which starts out with a Kw...NOT Qu! read more
