Lol, she made it sound so unappetizing I just passed. So skip ahead to one month later, exact same thing happens! I come in at 2:00, ask about tacos. She says almost the same exact thing. Shrugs her shoulders and says "I don't know how warm it is but I can try." This time I call her out on it and let her know I won't bother her no more and I'll get food up the road. This is obviously not her business. If I was the owner of this business I'd be very unhappy that my employee is discouraging customers from purchasing food. Not once, but twice!

According to the hubs, pricing is almost a dollar less than SJ. Another plus, they are open 24 / 7, so restrooms are avail round the clock. Tho there have been a few times where they were cleaning the bathroom, so it was not avail. I've never checked them out, but that's what the hubs says. Easy to hop off 50E or 50W when in need of gas. The gas prices are comparable to other gas stations in the area, the store is very clean, and the people are helpful. The store is your typical convenience store with snacks, drinks, sundries, the like. they also have a deli, but when I was there on a Saturday at 11 AM, it wasn't open. They do have a good selection of beer, wine, a few souvenirs such as shirts, and they even sell Sacramento Kings and other trading cards. They have a car wash, but it is a touchless car wash. I personally have not had a lot of luck with touchless car washes. . One thing that they don't have, is any slot machines. A lot of the Native American gas stations do have an area that you can play slots. But since this is not on the same property as the casino, that may be the reason that they don't. Overall, it's a good place to stop.

BUT, here's the big tip advice: FIRST, you MUST have a Safeway shopping card in order, receiving the $1.99 gas price so, sign up applying for the Safeway card BEFORE buying gas, capische? Go to the Safeway Grocery Store, go to the customer service desk and apply for the Safeway Shopping Card. SECOND, only PAY GAS IN CASH because if, you decide using a credit card, the gas price skyrockets to nosebleeds! Therefore, always carry cash when buying gas at ANY Safeway Gas Station. BTW: Don't even think about using your ATM DEBIT CARD because Safeway will automatically think your Debit Card is a credit card, okay?! I'm not sure that the Placerville Valero is the cheapest, but it is easily accessible off US 50, especially if when we stop at the nearby Starbucks first. This time around, I didn't read the separate cash/credit prices closely enough, but I was just happy to have a full tank as we headed down the road.

Starting in the Sacramento area, you have to take the 50 East, there is a break in the road trip once you reach the city of Placerville. In Placerville the freeway comes to a stop and slow down, there's a light/intersection. It's a good stop to go get something to eat and or go to the bathroom. Most importantly, if you need gas this is the place to go! It's right off the turn into the small town. It's pretty spacious with parking spots and gas pumps. Also, there's a great Shell market that's available. It sells all of the gas station goodies along with restrooms to help assist the journey in. Everyone is super friendly and I recommend stopping here.

Prices per gallon that day if you pay by credit card were: $3.699 regular, $3.799 plus, $3.899 v-power. If you pay by cash, prices per gallon are 10 cents cheaper. I don't know why this place is called Proper Fuels, but I swear, we were basically at a Shell? At least the sign said Shell. So I guess if you go here, you're basically getting gas at Shell. They do have a Food Mart here, so if you want some beverages and snacks, you can pick some up. I think the roomie and I grabbed some red bulls and one of our friends grabbed an ice cream bar. I did use the restroom and that is to be avoided. So gross and dirty! It looked like someone has an a$$-plosion! But I needed to empty my bladder for the long drive home, so I had to grin and bear it. Sometimes a girl has to do what a girl has to do. But be warned. It was really nasty. Fine gas station, but gross bathroom. Avoid using the restroom if possible.
