Portions are very filling, presentation is always on point and for the value it's so worth it!! Been looking forward to going to the quiet man pub since I moved into the area. I hate to say it but our visit fell flat. The beer menu is not great but what you would expect from an Irish pub and the food menu was also fairly small. My friend got the burger which was really nothing special. Knowing how hyped up the Shepard's pie was I had to go for that. This Shepard's pie was scorching hot, and truthfully without much flavor. read more

This is one of those "I'm happy I use Yelp" finds. Staying at a hotel nearby, this popped up and decided to go for some Irish food with my manager by driving out the extra three minutes. Hands down this was a brilliant idea. A fairly small pub tucked away, it is one of those establishments you walk into and just have that coziness and authentic Irish feel to it down to the multi colored doors. The food was everything you would expect from a great Irish pub. The menu has all the standard fair you would expect, and everything we had was outstanding. I had the corn chowder special and shared the baked brie appetizer. Both were great, and set the stage for the main courses. The chicken pot pie was huge and excellent. Either of the main courses we had is able to be shared so between that and the fish and chips we had more than enough food. The fish and chips were great. Great fry on the fish, and light flaky fish with three huge pieces. And a house tarter sauce just added to making it spot on. Our server was extremely friendly, between her and the other host staff we felt welcomed and they were very good about being attentive but also allowing ample time to enjoy our meals. Food is wonderful. Service is experienced and attentive, they are professionals. Nice, cozy environment.

This is not a place for those who are looking for cutting edge food. But if looking for meat and potatoes or other simple fare, it does a good job. It should be compared to places like Applebees - so the steaks are better and the mashed potatoes better too. It has a decent selection of beers as well. A real Irish pub in Ireland would only have a few brands too. Wife, son and i went out to celebrate my son's 44th birthday. We all had a good time. I found this pub while I was randomly in Dover and it definitely had the feel of an Irish Pub. The dimmed lighting, the masses huddled at the bar sharing stories with the bartender and a menu with good variety. The waitress was very Courteous and the meal came with complementary bread and butter. The bread was just out of the oven and fresh. I ordered the broiled salmon special and steak fries. The steak fries were a good portion - even in the small size, however, they were slightly overcooked. The salmon was juicy and well cooked; the spinach and potato were the perfect sides. I don't usually write about the bathroom, which had wet wipes in addition to hand soap. There was a super efficient hand blower instead of paper towels. Overall, a good neighborhood eating spot that I probably would go to again if I find myself in the area. read more

Comfort food, atmosphere, and great staff...a MUST stop, if you want it all at an affordable price!! My coworkers and I were only in town a couple days for a big meeting at the Picatinny Arsenal (Army stuff) and were starving when we ended our duty day so, while driving to our hotel (TownePlace Suites Dover Rockaway) we made a plan (always based on Yelp [must be greater than 4 stars] and close) to check this place out. I ordered the Tuesday night special: crab cake, scalloped potatoes, mixed vegetables, and the clam chowder ($15.99)...washed down with a perfect blue moon w/an orange ($8)...one word...comphernominal (that's comfort food and phenomenal)!!! The staff was equally pleasant and made us feel at home! The only negative, because all of us were here on business, is that they don't split the bill...they leave that up to the table to figure out...ughhh! I still rate a 5, because it wasn't a big deal...we'll return the next time we're in town!!! read more

What a gem of a find! Cute little place bar on one side snd restaurant on the other. They had great live music (man and his guitar) he was really good especially, with Cat Stevens songs. This area is packed in the Fall, so we had gone to two other restaurants and didn't want to deal with the wait. We were a party of six and they squeezed us in before we could finish one drink at the bar (having four teens take up their precious bar space on a Sat night probably helped our case lol). Food was really good, Caesar salad with chicken that was PERFECTLY cooked ..that almost never happens at pubs but it wasn't dry at all!! Same with wedge salad with chicken, burger was nicely medium rare, fish and chips, french onion soup my 14 year old said the onions should be caramelized a bit more they were large not fully cooked ones (oh we created little monster food critics lol) but she loved how much cheese was on top, potato skins and shrimp pasta dish were all worth a try but the burrata was not a fav, I felt that putting sauce on burrata is a bit like making pizza out of burrata ummm NO WAY! Burrata is creamy and rich and delicious and should be savored alone or perhaps with some basil and good olive oil but all that sauce truly did make it taste like we were eating pizza, so what was to be an adult appetizer ended up being eaten by a teen who loves pizza, so big fail. S and I thought the onion rings were too greasy to even eat and they went in the garbage. I also tasted the fish and chips and thought the fish batter was greasy as well. I love fish snd chips and this is their claim to fame but I would have been sick trying to eat all of it. My teen devoured it of course. Perhaps their oil wasn't hot enough? read more

Went again yesterday. Had corned beef and cabbage - took home some of their brown bread (similar to Irish bread). Great meal. More than enough for me and my wife (we are in our 70s). Yum! This is a quaint little eatery and pub. It's v. unassuming from the outside (and frankly the inside too) but the food is homey and delicious and the drink menu is great. This is definitely my new favorite Irish pub and restaurant. Francis "Frank" Burke original founder, and owner who came from Dublin in 1957 and opened his dream restaurant in 1979 in Dover. Mr Burke passed away in December 2017. Some of the recipes came from Ireland. The restaurant is now being run by his three daughters. I got the chance to meet Mary Leahy one of the three daughters and manager. She was very delightful, and gave me some history about this place and her father. Upon entering I noticed a shadow box tribute dedicated to Frank who passed. There is a bar with some wooden booths and tables surrounding it. My favorite beer Guinness is definitely on tap. Off the bar area is the main dining room with 9 tables. Up on the wall is a Tapestry and the name "THE OHARA ROOM" named after famous movie star Maureen O'Hara who starred in the movie, "The Quiet Man" with John Wayne in 1952 which this pub and restaurant is named after. There is even an autographed picture of her up on the wall. Everyone here is extremely friendly and kind. Our server Mary Ann was very accommodating to me and my sister-in-law who had some special requests. I find the true test of a good Irish pub, and restaurant is their Fish n Chips, and their Shepard's Pie. I also check to see if they pour the Guinness on tap correctly which they do. I ordered the Fish N Chips for lunch, and it came with a house salad. I got honey mustard dressing on mine. The salad was a nice size of mesclun greens, red onions, grape tomatoes, sliced beets, shredded carrots. My honey mustard dressing came on the side. My main dish , Fish n Chips came with three pieces of beer battered cod deep fried with steak fries. If your hungry then this is the place to come. I put malt vinegar on my fish along with homemade tarter sauce. My Fish N Chips was the best I ever had. It was crispy on the outside, and so light and fork tender on the inside. The tarter sauce was so good I decided to dip my fries in it. I've eaten in many Irish restaurants and pubs. The Quiet Man's Fish n Chips is definitely worth trying. My sister-in-law ordered the Honey Dipped Chicken. She got three pieces of honey fried chicken, steak fries, battered n fried pineapple slice and a large corn fritter. Her chicken was crispy and moist inside with a hint of sweet flavor. Her order came with a house salad. We ordered two orders of the Shepherd Pie to go and two orders of Pistachio Cheesecake and two orders of Limoncello cake. The Shepherd Pie was excellent along with the two different desserts. This place can get very crowded so plan accordingly. There is 6 parking spaces outside , and street parking. Every week there are dinner specials, and on certain nights themed food night. The Quiet Man has a late night menu, and drink specials. I left here very full and content. The prices are reasonable, the portions are large, the food is excellent, and the service is very good. First time there, great pub had a half/half and wife hot cider. Apps mussels was delicious. Waitress said chief is Italian. She recommended spaghetti and meatballs, The meatballs excellent but sauce didn't agree with me. The irish coffee is a knockout. read more

I'm so glad we happened to stop here for a drink after our grandson's graduation from Parsippany Hills High. Our son is from the area however we are from Port Saint Lucia, Florida. We immediately fell in love with this beautiful historic pub. The service is outstanding, the food is amazing and everyone is a local, you feel like a member of the family. We loved our first visit so much, we came back 3 more times before we had to leave. I have been going to the Quiet man for over 30 years and I can honestly say, I have never had a bad time. The food is top notch, the Guinness is how it is supposed to be, and the bar crowd is fun and friendly. Best of all is the service and the feeling that your business is greatly appreciated. If you like Fish and Chips, they are the best. Other popular staples include the Bangers and Mash, Chicken Pot Pie, and the Hamburgers. You can't go wrong. Don't be fooled though! The gourmet dinners are incredible. Try one of their steaks or pork dish. Amazing! Everything is cooked to order, fresh, and flavorful. Ok - one last thing. We came here last night because we'd heard they have the best fish and chips in North Jersey. I agree, with the fish. Three large, thick pieces of fresh cod, beautifully battered and cooked to crisp perfection. Ii can't say the same for the thick cut French fries, which were limp instead of crispy. They were a disappointment . The tartar sauce was an excellent accompaniment to this fish. We wanted something on the side and ordered creamy coleslaw which was good, but not excellent. We enjoyed the atmosphere of the pub. We sat in the pub side in a booth opposite the long bar. The atmosphere in that room is fun. The waitstaff are excellent, and very pleasant. Unfortunately, the singer was way too loud for the room. His microphone needed to be turned down. He was fine, singing a great medley of tunes. The problem was that it was impossible to talk when he was singing. However, our meal, and seeing the other dishes that were served, will bring us back for sure. Have been a patron for 40+ years and never had a bad meal. Sure, things have evolved over the years but this place is the only option when my better half says lets go out to eat. When dining at other establishments (very rare) we use the QM as a benchmark and most fail. Food is terrific and service by the "seasoned" staff is great.
