My family and I have been coming here for as long as I can remember (at least 12+ years). It's set the bar for Chinese takeout. Sesame chicken, egg foo young, pork fried rice, and their pork fried dumplings are exceptional. Every time I fly home, the family tradition is to have Wong's waiting for me! Great food at a great price! Just moved into the neighborhood so needed something quick so we could get back to unpacking. Looked at Yelp for ideas and found this place. Fast and friendly. Super small place but food isn't bad at all. We ordered the fried rice, Lo neon, egg foo young and dumplings. The lady even gave us portion size estimated as I was ordering more than I needed so she helped out when I told her it was for 6 people. Yummy Chinese food in a convenient location. Been wanting to try this place and what we ordered was delicious. We had the Kung Pao Chicken (spice level 7) and the Garlic beef (spice level 3). I was worried that the chicken would be too spicy, even though I like spicy food but it wasn't. I will probably order it at an 8 next time. I was very impressed with the Garlic Beef - the Beef was very lean and tasty and I liked the vegetables that were included. We got a lot of food for $20!! The owners (I believe) were the ones cooking and were very friendly. I called in my order on a Friday night and was told it would be 35 minutes. I think it's just the two of them working and I'm sure there were quite a few orders before ours. We will be ordering again soon!! read more

I ordered the House Fried Rice medium spicy, and it was on point! 9 out of 10. $5.25 plus tax, for the small size; you cannot beat that! Good flavor and good spice level. Run across the street to Knowlan's or Minnoco and hit up their ATM first. No big deal. No room to eat inside, so make sure you call ahead to do pick up. For over 20 years we have thoroughly enjoyed this gem. For a treat order fried rice extra spicy with extra egg. Fried egg rolls are awesome as is just about everything else of which I have tried it all. For chow mein I do the subgum as there is still no answer to the chow mein of MN from the past and certainly no Nankin chow mein. Being the "go to" for over 30 years is something I don't take lightly. Wong's is no different than any other Chinese grab'n'go except that it's always...and I do mean always...perfect! A true "go to" spot for Chinese. The food here is authentic and spot on every time. It's not what you'd expect to find in a town like SSP...but it's there...and it's great! Wong's is excellent and the only place we get Asian take out. It's a "mom & pop" store, run by the husband and wife team and occasionally their son is there too. Genuinely friendly and courteous and the food is delicious, cooked to order fresh. They will customize any dish for you - no carrots, extra veggies, etc. I think the longest we have ever waited for an order was 25 minutes during the busy dinner rush times but its worth the wait. We've been ordering from them for years and we highly recommend them to everyone. We've since moved out of state and this is the only restaurant in the entire metro area that we truly wished we could have taken with us. My boyfriend and I first tried this place a year ago when we moved to South Saint Paul. We thought it was a branch of the Wong's Kitchen in Roseville which I frequented for years and loved it (which is no longer the case--bought food from there a few months back and it had changed, my favorite dish changed and for the worse). Anyhow we gave this place a try. The woman who owns/works there with her husband is very friendly and if you watch her in action maintains a good rapport with all of the customers. The food is excellent. I'm incredibly picky, my boyfriend is not. We have never been disappointed with our food and we have gotten takeout I would estimate at least 20 times or more in past year. I absolutely adore the pineapple lemon chicken here. It has a flavor that is familiar, yet different from anywhere else I've had a lemon chicken dish. The chicken is lightly fried and the sauce is perfect for dipping cheese wontons into. Also, it has to be the smallest of small businesses that I've ever seen with only two employees, so if you're looking to support small, local businesses, this would be the place. read more
