So I took my nieces car in Saturday for an oil change with tire rotation, and wiper blades with coupons that included an inspection. I also asked to price two new front tires to match the rears as close as possible as the rears were in great shape. I received a call that it was ready and they had a list of things they found wrong. The car is high miles and I knew it would need a few things. BUT...
We returned and were detailed a two page list totaling $1800! Now I understand that an inspection may bear a list like this when it's high milage, but many of the things I later inspected myself to find there was nothing wrong. The serpentine belt was said to be cracking, it looked like new. The exhaust was said to be leaking (which I had suspected) and was quoted $438 to replace a pipe we later found out was a $65 job to replace a flange gasket. The tires were quoted as 4, when the rears were clearly in great shape! and I specifically told them I only needed two to match as best as possible. There were several other issues we were quoted that were just overkill. But that's not really the worst part.
We left with the car and headed to Autozone to get a sensor and battery I was replacing myself and I noticed the tires were not rotated! As my wife pulled up next to me, she had the wiper blades in her hand! along with the wheel lock key they neglected to return to the center console. She called back and told them the tires had not been rotated and we'd have to come BACK and have them do it! So after going back, a second time, to do the work they were PAID to do, we got home to fix the stuff I was to do myself. We noticed the wheel lock key was not in the car where it was kept. By this time they were closed and I had to wait to call Monday.
Monday morning, 8am, I called and was told the Saturday techs were not in yet and should be any minute, they would have them search for it and someone would call me back. Ten o'clock came and went, no call. So I had to call THEM back again! to find out the story. I asked to speak to a manager and was told they "scoured" the shop looking for it and the tech said he "thinks" he put it in the cargo net in the back. What, he doesn't know for sure?? We ended up finding it in the trunk area, not where it was kept or where they found it on the first visit.
So it seems they were more interested and focused on getting the big ticket sale and neglected to do what the customer asked for and paid for, except for an oil change.
And I also found the sign on the counter, mentioned in the other review, not very humorous after the ordeal. It sounds like they are already ready for the customer to be unhappy.
Needless to say, we won't be back. read more
