They tried to tell me I needed a whole new engine for around $12k. I had it towed to Sharp's Automotive for a second opinion. While part of what the dealership said was true, Sharp's was able to actually fix my engine without replacing it. There was a part that had to go to a separate machine shop for work to be done on it. The machine shop was backlogged and didn't get to my part for a week and a half, but I don't blame Sharp's since that was beyond their control. Apparently, my engine timing belt needed to be replaced along with a few other things; they also did an oil change. The timing tool they had was missing a part due to a former employee not putting it back where it belongs and they couldn't find it. So they ordered the missing part and had to wait a day to receive it. My engine timing parts were complicated for putting back together, so it took longer than he thought it would. He promised me I would get my car back on a certain day even if he had to work late. I did get my car back on the day he promised. All in all, I spent less than $5k for the work and I'm happy to have my car back in my garage. Steven was the mechanic who worked on my car; he communicated well about the progress and I think he did an excellent job. I would definitely recommend this shop to anyone!

I walked to his shop one day because I was changing my oil by myself. They claimed their equipment was incompatible with my vehicle and couldn't diagnose the issue. I had to take the vehicle to the dealership for diagnostic and service. I don't recommend Discount Auto Repair and will never return.

Other repair shops - I will not name them, would have conveniently "found" a problem, made a fake repair, and then handed me an outrageous bill for work that had never been done. Discount Auto Repair ran the diagnostics at no charge and wished me happy holidays. You can't get much better service than that. If and when my car officially goes on the blink, I will gladly return to this shop for repair work.

We called Tyler and asked if they could help with a manual transmission car because we'd have to have it towed there. They said yes. Then after we had it towed, they said they didn't know how to work on it. We tried to drive it across the street to Glendale Automotive, but Tyler had killed the battery. So I had to push it back the 10 yards to get it into a parking spot at Tyler and wait for another tow truck. No one from Tyler came out to ask if we were ok or offer help as I pushed. We did get it over to Glendale Automotive with a tow, and Glendale fixed it right up, no problem. If Tyler had just been honest, we could have towed it to Glendale from the jump and saved ourselves a lot of time, money, and literal physical pain from pushing the car.

This was my second visit to Tyler Automotive. I went to subpar mechanics recently that I just…read moredidn't trust and my car still didn't feel right. Had my front and rear shocks and struts replaced with a wheel alignment. I had to have my car towed to Tyler's Friday afternoon knowing they're closed on the weekends. I called to let them know my car would be there at whatever time on Friday and whenever they manage to get to it was fine. Becky answered the phone and after I told her what was going on with my car, she let me know I would have to pay for the suspension check since I had the initial repairs done elsewhere - totally reasonable and 100% transparent. I got a text at 2:11pm today to review what they found and they called a few minutes later to go over it and get permission to do what was needed. It was only $70 for the suspension inspection plus a free quality control inspection. They also fixed one of the tire valves for me and filled the front two that were shockingly low. I literally just had all 4 filled elsewhere. The most expensive was the alignment which was $135. A little higher than what I'm used to but honestly, you get what you pay for. They called 2 hours later to let me know my car was ready. It always sucks to have to bring your car in when something is wrong but at least the people working at Tyler Automotive don't make you feel worse about it and know what they're doing

A-1 has been under new ownership since earlier their year and has worked on 2 of my vehicles so far. They live up to their previous reputation of honest work and evaluation. If it isn't truly needed they are going to let you know, unlike the dealerships and chain store mentality. What they do is fairly priced and they leave me confident in their work. It's kind of an old school concept... honest, quality work.

I highly recommend them, and I don't say that very often at all. But they are honest and let you know exactly what is wrong with your vehicle and will give you an estimate of how much it will cost to fix and how long it will take. And be right on point. The facilities are excellent and the customer can see their car being worked on regardless of where it is in the shop. One of the few auto repair locations I have used in which I have felt demonstrated integrity and honesty. Only complaint I have is with the changes to Indiana-31, it is a bit challenging to get to their location.
