I'd like to recommend Kim to all the people who needs an alteration service. Our experience has an abruptive start but happy ending. I sent three pants here about 2 months ago, but my husband found out Kim forgot to do the work as there was no mark on pants when he went to pick them up. This week I had a long shirt need to be hemmed and I want to give a second try with Quick fit as there are so many good reviews. I brought the three pants together with my shirt. Came here after reading the stellar reviews. I was satisfied by the quality of the work, and I would definitely come back if I needed small touch ups. PARKING: Street. Travel southbound on 1st if you can because the shop is kind of hard to see. SERVICE: I had a leather jacket (Fluxuss) and a skirt that needed some repair. The leather jacket has a huge rip in it (I got it from the $20 bin, otherwise it would have been around $500). He repaired the rip without an issue, and though the seams are visible, you wouldn't be able to notice that it was a repair. The skirt was a simple zipper repair where the zipper had become detached from the fabric of the skirt. I don't think I would take pants or jeans here due to the other reviews, but simple alterations are great. Prices are reasonable ($13 for the jacket repair and $7 for the skirt). I went to get a bridesmaid dress altered and Joseph was so fast! I needed the bottom hemmed at least two inches including the lining underneath as it was two layers, and the straps needed to be shortened and adjusted. The total came out to $47 which I thought was reasonable for all the work that needed to be done. He was also able to get it done within a week! I didn't need it done right away, but Joseph wanted to get it to me as soon as possible even though I could tell he was busy. Joseph was super nice and honest. I bought a pair of pants on 10/14/23, and I noticed that one of the legs was significantly longer than the other one. I decided to buy it any way, because the store gave me a nice discount on it. I took it to an alterations store in Monrovia and the owner quoted a price of $8 to shorten the ONE leg. Unfortunately, he was not able to have the pants ready until 10/18, and I needed them by 10/17. So, I went to Quick Fit Tailor and they quoted a price of $15 to shorten ONE leg! I told the owner that I had just gotten a quote from an alterations place in Monrovia for $8, BUT SHE REFUSED TO BUDGE ON THE PRICE! I asked her if she could at least come down on the price a bit, but she wouldn't budge!! I couldn't believe her stubbornness! As a first time customer to this place, you would think that she would do everything in her power to make me a regular customer, but SHE DIDN'T CARE! And she had the nerve to tell me I could look for another place if I didn't like her price!! She had a TERRIBLE ATTITUDE!! I needed a suit completely tailored...I bought it 7 years and about 20 lbs. ago...I love the suit and wasn't really in the business of buying a new one. I live in the area, checked out the reviews and figured, why not? I dropped it off on a Friday and needed it that following Tuesday for a very big meeting with my company...as you can imagine I was a little nervous allowing this thing to go down to the wire but---procrastinate I did. I picked up the suit on Tuesday evening, and to my delight it was perfect! My standard cut suit was now a sharp slim fit! I was feeling and looking amazing leaving the store and got several compliments at the meeting the next day. Not only was the suit perfect the price could not have been any better! I brought my suit jacket and two pants here to get hemmed and slimmed. The tailor just eyeballed the sides of my suit / my pants and was able to fit me in less than a few minutes. I was a little scared that he would get it wrong but when I picked it up today I was pleasantly surprised that everything fit perfectly! He does great work and is EXTREMELY honest. Lol, maybe too honest, but if you aren't a very sensitive person and can take things lightly then pay him a visit. I've gone to him quite a few times. His pricing is reasonable and he gets things done quickly. I remember going in my first time and he was helping out a previous customer that was trying on pants that he had taken out. He came out of the dressing room and when the tailor asked if he was happy with the work, the customer said, "hmm... yeah. Do you think you can take them out just a little more?" And the tailor said "No! Just eat more vegetables." LOL. And then I went in to see if he could patch a tiny hole in my workout leggings. He told me he wouldn't do that because I'd look stupid wearing leggings with an obvious patch in them LOL. It's kind of a shame that if you yelp "Tailor," this shop doesn't show up. I have been coming here for years and have taken suits, working pants, higher end jeans and work shirts here. I have been here approximately 8-10 times throughout the years and I keep going back because Mr. Tran's work has always been good and it's so much cheaper than going to Nordstrom or something. If you are looking for a good mom and pop shop that does good work, I would give this place a shot. If it's too far from you and you live closer to San Gabriel/Temple City, Formosa Cleaners does good work from my experience. Now, if you're still reading, I'd like to take the rest of this review to address the obnoxious and 'nose in the air' review that Puccini wrote. I would encourage you guys to read her review but ask these questions: 1. Did she actually have anything done, or was it just a big venting session? Answer: It doesn't seem like they did, from what I can tell. It was just complaining that the shop wasn't fancy enough. 2. Why did she list prices of her things? Why does it even matter how much your stuff cost? If the answer is that she was trying to say Mr. Tran hasn't dealt with high end stuff, 2 of my shirts Mr. Tran worked on costs more than what Puccini has listed. So he has. Since Puccini's review is oozing with phoniness, my suspicion is Puccini just wants to be a snob. 3. Since she attacked other yelpers as not knowing what they are talking about, and asking them to check other yelpers reviews of the type of places they visit and review, basically accusing people of being low brow based on the places they visit, I encourage you to check hers. Look at her ratings. She more or less is a troll using one star reviews to bash businesses if it wasn't perfect. Yes a "lifestyle emerges" from reading a person's other reviews, and hers seems to be a 1 star troll. At the time of writing, she has 11 out of 23 reviews that have received 1 star. This means that about half of all of her reviews are 1 star. Wow, she must be the unluckiest person in the world getting that much bad service all over the place! 4. Why does it even matter what kind of clothes is in his shop? She takes a dig at the clothing of other people in his shop, using it as a basis to say it's not good enough for her (describing it as 'low-end, dime store clothing). So what? Do you have to wear those clothes? I'm not sure if you know this, but you are in the suburbs of the San Gabriel Valley. If you don't want to support small mom and pop shops, don't. But please check your snobby bs at the door; control some expectations. If everything you are so desperately trying to convey about your financial status in your review is true, and you think these honest mom and pop shops arn't shiny enough for you, why don't you go elsewhere? I remind you, she hasn't actually had anything done there. How can she spout out a review like that, being so adamant that this isn't a good business? If your grip is with the french couture label another yelper used, why don't you keep your criticisms to that, instead of taking unnecessary shots at the business, the owner and other patrons of the business. It's true, Mr. Tran is an older guy who may be rougher around the edges, but the work is good, the prices are fair, and unlike Puccini, the shop isn't trying to pretend to be something it's not. read more

The owner use to have a little tailor shop located in the Santa Anita mall years ago and still provides the same friendly small town services and best tailoring skills in the area. He also does tailoring for Macy's so you may have met him before if you've had tailoring done at the Arcadia Macy's. Very friendly, knowledgeable and fast service. One man Rambo! I've had tailoring done all over the place - from chains like banana or nordstrom to mom and pop cleaners and everything else in and out of that. I've had lots of bad tailoring jobs too (uneven, loose seams, etc.). This guy had been my go to guy for years now. Consistent, hard-working, diligent, funny, and offers good suggestions. Based on a prior review by Kahloy C, in which he mentioned that this is a "first class haute couture" tailor, I stopped by today with some high-end items. Because my items are so expensive, I wanted to first stop by to meet the tailor, get a sense of the shop and its cleanliness, and most importantly get a read on the man himself. "Couture" tailors are neat, tidy people - always perfectly polite and unflappable; this attitude is usually reflected in the perfection of their seams. I brought in 3 items: an Escada oversized bag (retail ~$1,200), a Moschino skirt (this is not the Cheap 'N Chic diffusion line, but the actual Moschino, so retail about $600), and a TSE skirt ($200). The bag has some white leather edging that was showing wear, so I wanted the edge replaced. The tailor kept asking "what fabric is that?" about the bag, and when I told him it was leather he said he didn't sew leather. Interesting, since couture clothing often have leather designs that high-end tailors usually deal with, and he clearly has not had to "deal with" such items. Also interesting that he couldn't tell that it was real leather - I can tell an expensive leather bag from a mile away. On to the next item, the simple TSE skirt. It was a simple straight skirt with no lining. He quoted $12 to take in the sides, and $12 to shorten the hem. This is not cheap, given that the shop is very very modest (in both location and presentation); I have had the same price at most average tailors in Pasadena. For the Moschino skirt (a straight simple wool skirt with lining), he quoted $16 to take in the sides and $19 to shorten the skirt. Again, this is average market pricing for below-average work. I then asked him about the simple TSE skirt: would the alterations be noticeable? I already knew the correct answer: it should have been "absolutely not!" because it was the most simple of hems and even an average tailor would have no trouble promising virtually perfect work. Instead, Tran said, "It's not going to be exactly the same! NO ONE can make it exactly the same!" Excuse me, but I'm pretty exacting about my clothes, and countless mid-range tailors have shortened almost identical hems for my skirts with virtually NO sign of the alteration. I didn't say anything, but I must have looked shocked. Tran then said,"where is your tailor? Where is your regular tailor?" in a nasty tone. It's none of your damn business, sir. Tran then said, "You should take it to your regular tailor!" as if I couldn't possibly find someone who could make a perfect alteration. Then, the best part: throughout our entire 5-10 minute conversation there is stuff falling out of his mouth; he was chewing nuts or something gross and white and it kept falling out of his mouth and I was pretending to not notice that he was spewing bits at me every so often. Then a piece fell out and hit my skirt! I jumped back and literally ran out of there. Regarding the previous review that brought me in to the shop by reviewer Kahloy. I should have heeded the warning bells I heard when I read it, because usually someone who uses high-end tailors has excellent grammar; when I look at their other reviews I can see that they visit high-end establishments in LA, so a lifestyle emerges of that person. In this case, there was poor grammar in the review (it's "advice," not "advise," buddy - now go edit your review!) and he seems to frequent low-end (mostly Vietnamese) eating establishments. And to top it all off, based on Kahloy's photo, he looks exactly like the tailor Tran. So much for the "objectivity" of Yelp reviews. I also noticed the kind of clothing that was being worked on in the shop. All low-end, dime-store clothing. Mr Tran is not a "Monsieur Tran" by any stretch of the imagination (i.e., a French couturier of any caliber), and his son should not be writing reviews for pop. read more

I've used Joseph for my tailoring over many times at this point. Over time, my opinion of his work has basically gotten better and better with each visit, to the point of revising my old review from 4 to 5 stars. - His prices are very reasonable/competitive. Also, for the amount of value you potentially get from rescuing clothes out of the grave with good workmanship, it's even more worth it. - He is professional and communicative. This is really important to me. - He takes credit card. - He has decent store hours. I'd say my only complaint is the excessive old spice smell in his store. Tip: If you're driving from the southwest, like me (e.g. from San Gabriel / Alhambra / etc.), take Huntington/Campus instead of Duarte. It's significantly faster. read more

Quick tips! 1. This is a very small and unassuming store with not a large store front. There is a small waiting area! 2. Mr. Tran works very quickly, if you need some shirts or something or another taken in, he can sometimes do same day alterations. 3. If you arrive while he's with another customer, you will probably have to wait til he's finished. Mr. Tran has been working in tailoring for a few decades. He started out in Los Angeles and eventually moved his business to Arcadia. I was in a rush to get my suit altered in time for a big dinner event. I asked him how long it would take to alter a pair of pants and he told me it would be ready in two days. I arrived on the day of my pickup and was able to observe his interaction with another customer. The other customer was a guy getting a bunch of shirts taken in. The guy tried on each shirt and made comments about the fit of each one of the shirts. Mr. Tran took note of each one and made quick modifications to suit the guy. Almost every shirt that he had altered was already perfect and fit the guy really well. What impressed me was that the guy wanted a tighter fit on one shirt and Mr. Tran expertly took about ten minutes to fix it and it looked great on the guy. As for myself, my pants were tailored expertly and they looked great. The fit was perfect and the height that he suggested with my shoes was great. It is clear that his experience is shown in his work. The price was reasonable at $10 for the suit pants. He also does dress alteration. I am pretty sure he will be replacing our old tailors as I am planning to take most of my shirts to him to fit them properly! read more

Was recommended to come here from a few people. Street parking. Service is quick and to the point. Get in and get out. I wanted them to tailor my 42 suit to fit as a slim 40. They took all my measurements and said it would be ready in a week. I was skeptical because the total cost was $100 to tailor but it was my favorite suit that I only got to wear once before it did not fit anymore. But I was very happy when I picked it up. My husband purchased a brand new Hugo Boss suit and went here to get it taken in on the jacket and shorten the sleeves (for a more modern, tailored look). BIG MISTAKE-- the results looked horrible (he made the jacket look like a women's coat!) My husband went back to get it "fixed" but Mr. Tran made it worse.
