I LOVE THIS PLACE! I would come here for lunch when I used to work for Smart and Final on Broadway. The owner would buy some of his supplies at our store and so I was able to meet some of the workers, real nice people especially the Latina who would always make me speak to her in spanish when ringing her up so that I could improve my espanol.The 5-piece chicken wings with a slice of bread, fries or cole slaw, and a soda is absolutely crack! The black lady that works here was singing "goin' UP! On a Tuesday and it made my day. Stopped in for a quick bite and had the catfish sandwich "Fast Eddie" with a side of fries. The batter was nice and crispy and the catfish was seasoned well. This is the type of spot where you come for good deep fried food. I came here because I wanted catfish and it was walking distant from my work. The catfish was not greasy at all, which is good on most days. Just so happen today I wanted that grease. It was still one of the best catfish I had. It was light, airy and damn I wish I ordered the snapper too. I had a side of macaroni salad along with it..you know to balance out the awesome fried goodness. It was a little too sweet for me. This is one of my favorite joints for fried catfish. There is a combo for 5 pieces of fish, fries or potato salad and a soda...all for around $5. That's a bargain basement deal! But the food does NOT taste like that at all!!! The fish is always fresh, not greasy and they always give you just a little bit more than 5 pieces. =) For a couple bucks more, their pies by the slice are not bad either. Had an pineapple upside down cake which was really moist and not too sweet. CON: it can get really crowded during the lunch rush and parking sucks in that area! I've eaten here three times, always the catfish. Well-seasoned, not greasy. I don't recommend the fried okra (Souley Vegan does it much better). However, I had the catfish last Friday, apparently it was an order just made and the person hadn't picked it up yet. They gave it to me. Used a "living social" deal and got a whole bunch of good food for 1/2 the price. It was delicious. Best fried okra this side of the Mississippi and better than quite a few places east of the Mississippi. NOT too much batter and it even seemed like it might have been fresh okra. Very unusual in these parts. You usually get an over-coated,frozen, not very flavorful version at the restaurants around these parts. Chicken was OK. I got the the tenders and they were juicy and good. The hush puppies were awesome to say the least. Just a hint of spicy when bit into...but just a whisper. The least flavorful item was the coleslaw. Tried Uber Eats delivery because I was stuck in the office. Selected this place because I liked the menu. Worse decision ever. The food was hideous. I ordered a three way combo, 2 fish, 2 prawns and 2 chicken wings. It was the biggest joke ever. The fish as stated in an earlier review was just small pieces mostly skin (like fish nuggets, with no nugget). Prawns, what a joke two small flatten shrimp and the chicken was just ok. The fries, oh that's right, they did not give me fries but from the look of my co-workers maybe that was best. They looked like shoestrings and tasted worse (I tasted hers). I called to complain and of course there is no manager there. My co-worker ordered a chicken sandwich and she stated it was terrible as well. I often passed this place, but never tried it until coupons were listed on Groupon. My friend and I went there and found another couple that had done the same. Not knowing what to order, they presented their Groupon, and the woman behind the counter quickly suggested order #14. They did and ordered a side of French fries and fried Okra. When the food baskets were handed to them, their food looked really dark and heavy with grease. My friend and I ordered the Large 5 piece catfish with onion rings, and Potato Salad, 6 piece chicken strips, 10 piece party wings, a rib tips and some other stuff. All the food we ordered was really greasy and overcooked. It needed seasoning. We tasted no salt on the fries or on the onion rings and none of the food. And it was a long wait. With the coupon we spent another 9 dollars. So, all in all, it was not a good deal. But, if you love unseasoned, overcooked greasy food, I would suggest that you go there and try one cheap dish before buying a Groupon. The place is incredibly small and a hole in the wall. Really love this place, its cheap and you get a good amount of tasty food. Although the place needs a good cleaning.

This place is decent in my opinion. No bells and whistles, but for the price, not bad either. The fried fish is decidedly better than the fried chicken; the fried catfish being the best tasting of all offered (Choice of Catfish, Sole, Snapper, or Whiting). All were seasoned well. They were out of hushpuppies, fried okra, and potato salad the day I visited around 11:30am leaving me to choose between French fries, macaroni salad, and coleslaw as a side. The coleslaw was horrid in my opinion; tasted commercially made and somewhat chemically bland. The fries were okay; seasoned with what seemed to be a Creole-flavored seasoning salt. The place is a really small hole-in-the-wall so plan on getting your meal to go as sitting at one of the few counter bar stools may get a bit cramped as other patrons come in the narrow shop to place and/or pick-up their order. Bottom line... $15 for two filling combo meals plus the service is very friendly. For this I gave Quick Bites an extra star. read more

Really great place for an inexpensive take-out dinner. Fried catfish was excellent, best hush puppies i've found in California (I try them wherever I go), and maybe the best fried okra, too. Wings were small but crisp and tasty, and at $5 for 10 wings plus a generous side, they are a great deal. I have visited this place quite a bit and this is the only horribily bad experience I have had. I usually get the quik bite (3 piece catfish and fries), but I wanted to try the chicken so I got the combo today. So, for $11, I ordered the comboy ( 3 piece catfish/3 piece chicken wings), fries (as they were out of okra) and a water (being the best part of the meal) First off, those were the teeniest chicken wings I have ever seen in my life, and they were covered in feathers and hair and although they were skinny and underdeveloped, they were still undercooked, the meat was pink....needless to say after eating only 1/3 of a wing I wanted no more....Second, they must have changed their fries??? The fries I am used to are thick and tasty, these were skinny shoestring soggy things, on the verge of being burnt to a crisp, needless to say, I only ate a handful and couldn't bear to eat another...Last but not least the catfish, smh, this is the ONLY place I've been to in which I order catfish. Its usually cooked very well and not fishy. This time, it was undercooked to the point I would have been better off going out for sushi. The fish was slightly slimy , yet it broke apart and it was tasteless. So as you see, my ENTIRE $11 meal was inedible. I doubt I will go there again, I already have this 'THING' about ordering out and they have tempted me to add them to the "DO NOT GO TO" list along with McDonalds and KFC. If I could've gotten away with saying ZERO STARS I would have but since yelp requires you to do it I gave them 1 star! I havent been to this palce in years but had a taste for fish. I ordered a 5 piece snapper today and was extremely disappointed. It was salted BEYOND belief. I felt my blood pressure shoot up! I bit into the second piece thinking maybe that was first piece was just the bad apple out the bunch, but the second piece was just as salty. It simply was NOT edible. I was going to throw it away and find something else to eat but then I thought forget that I spent almost $10 on this fish. So I called them and asked for a refund or make me a new batch (I was starving). She said okay we will make you more fish and then asked how much did I eat because there was No way she was going to give me 5 pieces again! I was shocked. She said, " we gone give you 3pieces." I thought fine , whatever (I was starving). But then again they give you such flimsey pieces it's as if you are eating salty batter because they are so cheap that they give you fish with no meat on it. So when I get there the lady (I found out her name is Alisa) is standing blocking the doorway on the phone and she put her hand out to grab the salty fish from me, as if I was not welcome to step foot in the little bity hole in the wall of a place. She did not say anything to me, no apologies, no it will be 5 minutes for your fish, NOTHING. So I stood up and looked at the other short mexican lady (I found out her name is Rita) adn she said your fish is cooking. Once my fish was done the black lady (alisa) threw it on the counter and said, "there yo fish" Which upset me but at this point I wanted to get back to work. So I tasted it while I was standing there, and little mexican lady said, "is it okay". I said yes it's ok. She then said "we never have complaints that it's salty, and I said unfortunately you do today. And she said, "you must not like salt" (with a disgusted scowl on her face) I could not believe she said that! Then the black lady starts saying we never get complaints. That's when I told them I have come hereI again said unfortunaely you are getting it today. I then said I won't be back here. Alisa then came outt the store to shout at me, "Good we don't want you back here"! How rude and disrespectful. I will never step foot in that hole in the wall again. And I will tell ALL my friends about them also. Oh yeah and the fries~greasy, salty nightmare also. And it's funny that the both alisa and rita say they have never gotten complaints becuase I see complaints amongst their reviews. This place is laughable. one of my favorite oakland lunch spots. they have the best deep-fried pork chop sandwiches (ask for it on a bun) and seasoned fries. last time i checked you could get a sandwich, fries, and soda for less than $6. oh, and fyi, make sure you call in your order 'cause it takes around 15-20 minutes. read more
