I went in for a simple blood draw on Saturday, November 22, 2025, and the phlebotomist who worked on me was wearing long designer acrylic nails. This is a direct violation of CDC infection control guidelines that prohibit artificial nails for clinical staff due to the very real contamination risks. It also violates OSHA standards that require employers to provide safe conditions for patients. Her acrylic nails interfered with the procedure and she missed my vein. She caused significant pain and did not acknowledge it, did not apologize, and did not show even basic empathy. Hours afterward the site of the attempted draw was still painful and stinging, which is not normal for a proper venipuncture. The whole interaction felt careless, unprofessional, and unsafe. I left the site shaken and seriously questioning whether Quest has any real oversight at this location. If this is happening openly in front of patients, I do not want to imagine what is happening behind the scenes. I emailed Quest Diagnostics a detailed, formal complaint. I included the appointment code, the location, and the exact issues, along with the specific CDC and OSHA standards that were violated. It has been days and I have received no response at all. No acknowledgment. No follow up. Nothing. Their silence makes the situation even worse. When a company that handles medical samples and patient health information ignores a safety complaint of this seriousness, it tells you everything about their internal culture and priorities. I will now be escalating this beyond Quest directly. I will be filing complaints with the following agencies: * California Department of Public Health * Clinical Laboratory Field Services * OSHA No patient should have to experience this, and no one should be exposed to unsafe practices because a location chooses to ignore basic clinical standards. I would strongly advise looking elsewhere for your lab work until Quest proves that they take safety and accountability seriously.

The first time it happened, the doctor admitted their mistake and paid it, them followed up by sending the next tests to an in-network lab. Then after that the doctor again sent this lab blood to be tested two more times, knowing they are out of network. The lab never informed me that they are out of network, which they need to by law, and proceeded to run the tests. When my insurance didn't pay, because there are out-of-net work, they sent my bill to a collection agency. Corruption all the way.

Here are my observations: 1. The front desk staff member spoke extremely loudly and came across as intimidating. Since this is a healthcare facility governed by HIPAA, I was very concerned that a patient's medical information was being discussed loudly enough for others in the waiting area to hear. The patient was speaking softly, yet the front desk staff member continued speaking at a volume that felt highly inappropriate and unprofessional. 2. The same staff member also handled questions in an unprofessional manner. There were only two patients in the waiting area, including myself, and I politely asked how long the blood draw process might take because it was already 11 AM and I had been fasting. Her response was that it would take 30 minutes just to check my insurance, delivered in a loud and dismissive tone. 3. Healthcare offices should provide not only efficiency, but also compassion and professionalism. Thankfully, there weren't any other patients in there. Only one patient was being seen for his labs and he finished when I completed my electronic check in. The receptionist/phlebotomist asked the doctor name to ensure that they have the lab requesition orders in their computer. Everything went smoothly. I was immediately asked to go to station 1. A male phlebotomist handled my blood draw very well. The needle injection was painless and went very smoothly. I was told that I had just missed their morning rush of patients! So I am assuming that it's best to avoid the early hours of business here. There are plenty of parking spaces at this old medical building here on Imperial Highway. I was finished in about 15 minutes.

The person performing the procedure seemed a little impatient with my fussy baby. I completely understand that babies cry and can be difficult to keep still, but I expected a little more patience and reassurance, especially for a service specifically offered for babies and toddlers. I was also asked if my baby had a pacifier, and when I explained that she doesn't like them, I felt a little judged. Nothing inappropriate was said, but as a parent, you sometimes just get that feeling. 3. The pricing and website description were confusing. The website originally stated that the $119 service included the flat-back earrings, which led me to believe the complete earrings were included. When we arrived, we were told the jewelry was separate. After I showed the nurse the wording on the website, I was told that the $119 only included the titanium flat-back post and that the front piece was an additional $70. Since we had already paid the deposit and were there for the appointment, we decided to pay the additional amount. I completely understand that jewelry can have an additional cost, but I believe the pricing should have been clearly explained from the beginning. I also noticed that the website description was later edited/changed after I brought up the issue, which was disappointing. 4. I also requested a receipt and was told it would be emailed to me, but I still have not received it. Overall, the office is clean and the staff was okay, but considering the price we paid, I expected a higher level of care, communication, and attention to the baby's comfort. I'm sharing this respectfully because I think the experience could be improved. Clear pricing, better guidance for parents, and a little more patience with fussy babies would make a big difference.
