I made an appointment online a few days in advance, and was seen within 30 minutes of that scheduled time. Parking was easy. Most importantly, the woman who performed my blood draw was kind and I didn't feel a thing. As someone who can typically get lightheaded in these circumstances, I appreciated her allowing me to lay horizontal during the process rather than in the upright chair. Easy breezy! I scheduled an appointment online. I called my doctor who sent this location the list of tests needed. I received confirmation from Quest Diagnostics that they received the order from my doctor for the correct testing location, and 3 days before the date of my appointment. I arrived. The lab had zero info on me. I showed them the email (from their company to me): it was useless to them. They told me they could only search their records by name and DOB and had nothing on me except that I had an appointment. Complete waste of my time. Then they gave me a "customer service" number that was bogus -- zero extension for customer service. And it / the IVR or technology hung up on me twice. More wasted time, more frustration. Only reason I went to them was because their biggest competitor is booked 2 months in advance. And now I know why these guys had availability-- because they don't have their systems well organized or well managed! read more

Online appointments were not available for Saturday. I arrived at 7:40AM and found myself fourth in line. Opening was 8:00AM. At 9:20AM I asked when I might get in and was asked to view the screen. God that was horrible I've had better help at the ER at three in the morning then I did at this place! It was supposed to be a simple In-N-Out deal five hours just to tell me they had overbooked and they weren't able to see me and I had to reschedule for two weeks because there was no other available scheduling for two weeks. I went in for some samples and tests on May 5th. I think I may have got a rookie phlebotomist. In any case, she really wasn't ready to do her job. My whole visit was a disaster. 1) Even though I had a relatively early appointment, 8:15 am, they were already running late, and I had to wait 10 minutes. I have been to Quest many times before, and this never happened. 2) Then it took her 20 full minutes to process my paperwork on the computer. That has never happened before either. For an 8:15 appointment, it was 8:45 before she started drawing blood. 3) She had to fill 5 vials. After doing three, she let the inserted needle slip or something, because the flow stopped. Tried to draw blood from the other arm, and couldn't find a vein. *That* has never happened before in my entire life. She stuck in a needle anyway (which makes no damn sense at all), and sure enough there was no flow. She finally ended up calling an experienced colleague to draw the last two samples. 4) The last straw was that I was prescribed a FIT test, which involves collecting a fecal sample at home and mailing in the test directly to the lab. The first section on the form says very sternly: "Office staff to complete the entire blue section before patient leaves the office". Either she didn't know this or she forgot. To make it worse, she kept the referral form I had brought from my doctor, which would have provided the information I needed to fill in that section. 5) When I tried to call today to get the information over the phone, I discovered that there was no way for me to persuade the automated phone system to let me talk to a human being. That's totally absurd. Their message says to press 6 to speak to someone. When you press 6, they say that's not a valid response! I pretended to be a doctor's office, to see if I could reach someone that way. They said "blank pause with no name announced" was not available, and I couldn't leave a message because the mailbox is full. How does any business function if none of their constituencies can reach them on the phone? read more

I even got a message reminder this morning instructed me how to check-in online, but by the time I arrived the lab there is nobody here, the door is locked, the phone has no answered, the voice box is full, you can't even leave a message. We normally go to the El Cerrito center, not knowing about San Pablo until just the other day. Our favorite Phlebotomist has transferred to the SP center and it was a happy discovery to find her there. Aside from our giddy delight to have an excellent Pleb. taking care of our needs, the center is as with any Quest center, clean, air conditioned, spacious and quick. I wish I personally was able to use this lab, but insurance dictates otherwise. Luckily, important loved one has insurance that does allow this most excellent of care. I would recommend Quest in general because of the level of professionalism and yet, if you go often enough the personal attention is superior. read more

I tried to reach Quest directly but there are no human beings available by phone anymore. So here I am on Yelp with a review because there is no one to speak with at Quest. I scheduled my appointment online, arrived 10 min early, and waited 35 minutes past the scheduled appt. time. They are so understaffed that you'd think they are a government agency. In the last two weeks, I have had to go twice, scheduling a morning and afternoon appointment. And both times waited about 30 min past the scheduled time and only one Phelebotomist was on staff. I would give 5-star reviews to the Phlebotomists who are great at drawing blood. And yet when you are understaffed you are overworked. On my first appt, I had to give a urine sample. No wipes were provided to clean my self before peeing into the cup. The results came back contaminated and I had to come back to repeat the test. Quest Labs HIRE more staff. I am going to be going elsewhere in the future. read more

There app doesn't work with there locations. You cannot call. There's no humans in the lobby, only another computer. The test results are missing and not even showing that I took test or paid for test. Paid $400 and have waisted a week worth of lunch's trying to contact them during hours there open. If you have 2+ hours of your life to blow, consider coming here so you can sit in a room with a bunch of other people while anxiously looking at a screen that advises you that the same 2 people have been helped for the past 45 minutes. I thought maybe this was an isolated incident, but in reading the other reviews it seems like maybe the location understaffs and hopes for the best? I for one hate getting my blood drawn because I always get the newbies. Fortunately, my last two visits have been great. The young Asian knows what she's doing and never has to poke me more than once. Additionally, we had a lengthy conversation on Amazon and online shopping. This was my first time at this Hercules Office and I have nothing bad to say! I have been to the San Pablo and let me tell you the staff there HATE their job I don't see how there's emplyees that are not willing to help. They are RUDE, ARROGANT and NOT HELPFUL at ALL! I have seen the way they are towards many patients as I waited! People go and try to sign in since is all computerized, patients say "can you help me" they ignore them or just say "just sign in" and when they do decide to help they are rude! I know I'm not the first person that complaints about this office there's many complaints against them from the nearby clinic! I will not be going back to this San Pablo location! I'm glad the Hercules office and the El Cerrito office have better staff! read more

Update. I don't know why I even thought of coming back to this place. Third time coming here for blood test. What I witnessed on how this clinic operates is total waste of anyone's time and a disservice to this areas' community. Only one staff at opening 7:30 with almost 15 people waiting in line. People that have appointments might as well have not bothered with the appointment, they are put in the same wait as the walk-ins. Finally another staff member becomes visible after 30 minutes. The opening one staff member is very good getting the people situated, but after that it is the long wait of processing all the patients with only one staff member working the back rooms. Lousy effeciency and staffing. This would actually be negative 5stars review! Will never come back here again! read more

The employers from Quest Diagnostics in San Pablo Vale Rd. are rude, especially Danielle. They yell at you across the room not respecting your privacy... HIPAA... Also, they don't give you instructions on what you are supposed to do relating to your test. They assume you know what to do. But overall my experience here most of the time is not good. Horrible horrible service first off I called the office to find out there hours and they said they close at 5:00 when I arrived at 428 the employees started yelling at me we are closed I tried to explain to them that there phone system say they closed at 5:00 and that the current time was 4:29. They continued to yell at me and told me to get out. When I asked to speak with supervisor Patricia she said she did not have time for me and I needed to get out. I get that they were closed and that and they may have had a long busy day and were ready to go home but I do believe in customer service and communicating in a profesional and respectful manner. Very effiiecient place if you get a first in the morning appt. with them. (Go to the Unilab Quest Web site to make an appt.) I had an 8:30 AM appt right when they opened. After some initial paper work, I was out of there in around 10 mins. Very painless needle in my arm for the blood work. The location isn't the 'best' nor is the room decor (pint coming off walls, a 'used' feel to the room, nothing special) ... but then again I wasn't there for a 'show room' ... overall a very good experience. read more

I just stood in line 26 minutes just to get signed in! I mean if it takes this long to sign people in they should have 2 people working the front desk signing people in. This is the 2nd time i've been here and both times it takes forever just to draw some blood. I don't understand why it takes so long to get called to draw blood that takes less then 10 mins to do. I made an appointment in advance. I strongly advise everyone doing that as they honor people with appointments first. I think it would be helpful to have someone at the desk to just guide people on the computer. After a while I'm sure you won't have to do that. That being said, Angel came out and helped me at the computer and I told him about the yelp reviews because the computer told me there was a 25 - 45 minute wait. I mentioned to him that I made an apt and showed him my printed out sheet (do this!). Literally five minutes later my name was called and there were about 7 other people in the waiting room. Maheesh (sp?) the phlebotomist did a very thorough job while Angel and I chatted away. Probably one of the best experiences I have had at Quest. LATER NOTE: One thing I didn't see at the time because I just had it done....I got a HUGE bruise on my arm where the blood was taken. I mean it was about 3" x 2". The Phlebotomist should be more careful. No one should bruise like that. It has never happened to me before. read more

I had a CA125 test drawn on Monday. This test is a marker for Ovarian cancer so you can assume I am very anxious to get the results back. At the time the tech drew the blood I was told it was a 24 hour turn around so I was expecting results by Tuesday afternoon. It is now Wednesday and I still have no results. Muong (sp) at the Quest desk was nice enough but useless in getting me any information and she failed to return a previous call as promised. She also said test results may not be in until Friday and could not provide any reason why. I asked for a manager to call me, his name is Angel, and he did not have the courtesy to return my call but had the clerk do it. I was then referred to customer service 800 number and a very competent operator named Kim helped me. Basically good bye Quest and hello Lab Corp next time I need any testing. read more
