Here's my honest review, because I promise you I did not want to be here for this appointment today. I needed to have a colpo done, which I hear is horrible but I've had it done once before today and I just don't share the same experience as my friends. I'm happy to say that remained the case today - no pain. My appointment was at 10am. Because I didn't want to go, I had pushed it out of my memory a month ago when the appointment was made. Either way, I'm happy I still had my appointment card to remind me of my appointment. It was laying on my floor and then I remembered 13 minutes til my appointment. I got there around 10:15. It can be confusing to find because this isn't a stand alone Planned Parenthood like I'm accustomed to seeing. It's inside of a larger building that's home to many other offices. PPH is located on the third floor. There's also two waiting rooms at this location. Everyone I interacted with here was pleasant. In particular, a woman named Corissa who took my blood pressure and was able to answer quite a few questions for me. For me, it's really about feeling comfortable, and I felt that here. The doctor and the nurse made me feel comfortable considering I had a colpo and a biopsy. COVID safety protocol was followed - After My appointment was over I dropped my phone on the floor and was offered gloves and sanitizing wipes immediately. Many people are worried about the virus, and for good reason, so I feel I have to add this in in regard to my experience. TIP: if you're low income and don't have any health insurance, I urge you to ask them about Family Pact. Many services, if not all, are covered for you under Family Pact. read more

I came here for the first time to get a STD & pregnancy test. The check-in process was quick and easy. However, I was very unhappy about the nurse (short lady with blonde hair) who had to draw my blood! When she put the needle in my arm, I felt a weird sensation down my arm and my hand and fingers started tingling. My arm kind of jerked and I told the nurse my hand felt weird. She said it was because my circulation was cut off. I am certain the nurse hit my nerve with the needle. It has almost been a week since my visit and my arm and hand is still having a tingling sensation. I will not be back here again for this reason! I have had my blood drawn numerous times at other places like Kaiser and Sutter Health and this is the first time I ever had this experience. read more

The staff here went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable for a very daunting procedure. I want to say THANK YOU for treating me like a human being. I've been on very expensive PPO insurance and horrendous public assistance and this is the best treatment I've ever had. Unlike other places they don't gaslight you about your experience with your own body which goes a looong way. The staff are calm and understanding and offer explanations of everything that is happening. This location is much less busy than the SF office and way more laid back. I'm so grateful for PP and think everyone should be treated with the respect they give women at Hilltop. Thank you to the staff of hilltop, it will be my first choice for future visits!! read more

I rarely write reviews but i got my butt on here so I could let everyone know how amazing this place is. EVERY SINGLE person working there is incredibly friendly, professional, and welcoming. I had the stigma that planned parenthood was only good for one thing, but it turns out they provide so many services! They answer any questions you have with knowledge and professionalism. They are friendly and inviting and never made me feel judged in any way. They accept donations after your visit, I donate every time i go because i want to keep this place open I could go on and on. I believe the fees are based on your insurance and/or your income. I don't have insurance, I answered a few quick questions, told them my income, and it turns out i qualify for a family pack plan which covers pretty much everything i will need for the next year. AMAZING. So even though i pay nothing for my visit, i get exceptional service every time. the one downside is you do need to wait for a bit, even with an appointment, but tell me a medical facility where you don't have to wait. read more

No it's not free if you have certain insurance or make s certain amount of money,just like ALL government assistance so why people get mad at a well known fact is beyond me. This Planned Parenthood experience was SO wonderful, I had to write a review. When I walked in, the woman at the reception desk was on the phone not taking shit from some random person trying to "speak to the manager," and it was very refreshing. They were able to help me get enrolled into a government assistance plan since I am in between insurance / jobs right now which covered for all of my care. Sidenote: I didn't really have anything to do after the appointment so this didn't bother me, but I think I ended up waiting a little over an hour with an appointment, so maybe plan ahead. The thing about this place that was so wonderful though, is that they knew I had been waiting and made sure to check in with me to make sure that I knew I hadn't been forgotten, and they listened during my intake of all the problems I had before / currently, and made me feel safe and cared for. The doctor apologized as soon as she came in for the delay, and we chatted about the pain I had been having and she took extra measures to make sure she could check for everything under her control and gave me advise for further treatment options. I don't think I've ever felt this empowered after leaving a PPH location and am really glad it is nearby as an option for me. Thank you! read more

I have private health insurance. I can go spread my legs for anyone that takes Blue Shield PPO. I still choose Planned Parenthood . I've been a patient at PP for over 20 years and I've only dealt with one awful employee. A total c*nt NP that treated the speculum like an assault rifle. She's long gone, but all the great gals are still there, as well a lots of lovely new faces. The care has been consistently great over these past two decades. My vagina and I are treated with the upmost respect, and I am allowed to have feelings without getting the c*nt glare that I get at private gynecology offices. Unfortunately they have also been consistent with the insane wait times, so I had to bump the rating down to Yay! I'm a fan. Fix those wait times and it will totes be Woohoo! While growing up, my traditional asian parents failed to teach me where babies come from. For 12 years, i thought babies automatically formed in mommies' tummies with an exchange of a kiss during the marriage ceremony. But thanks to Planned Parenthood, they clarified that up! (with well-illustrated pictures ;). ) I have been going to Planned Parenthood for quite some time now. I don't have insurance and they offer free services to low income families. I've gotten a variety of services done here and they have all been quick, efficient, and FREE. Although the wait can be long and dreadful, I truly appreciate their efforts to see me free of charge. The doctors are knowledgeable and the nurses are thorough. I am grateful for such a wonderful establishment in my neighborhood. Thanks Planned Parenthood for making the lesson of the Birds and the Bees entertaining! Now i gotta find a way to explain this to my 5 year old. She thinks babies come from Ariel with a wave of a magic wand. Sadly, I agreed. read more

Thank you Planned Parenthood for providing me free sexual health care! Seriously, where would I be with no health insurance and a need to get myself checked out?! I had to give PP a 4 start instead of a 5 star because even though their staff is really nice and friendly, I felt that the nurse practitioners and doctors were always busy and therefore, a bit neglectful of their patients. We need more places where women AND men can have affordable access to health care. So everything was great for me at PP except for one incident. It was my first time taking birth control pills and my NP knew of this, but on the same day and within 5 minutes after I asked about them, I was provided with a year supply of Orthro-Cyclen Lo. I was given a sheet of instructions and a 5-minute counseloring with a health adviser. Four days later, I started getting rashes all over my body and I called PP and all they could do was tell me to stop taking them. For the next couple of days, the rashes were more severe and I found out that I had hives. To make a long story short, I went to the emergency room and the doctors told me that it might be an allergic reaction to something in the pills. Although PP is an invaluable resource, they are limited in their staff and time, but each patient and their individual needs should not be overlooked. If they had evaluated me a bit more or monitored me because it was my first time with birth control pills, I don't think I would have gotten such a severe reaction to the pills and a horrible experience. I spent more money and time getting myself better with drugs and going to the emergency room than all my visits to PP. read more

I went to Planned Parenthood at the Richmond Health center because I'm positive for my pregnancy test, I had an appt on 9/1 and when I went to my appointment they said it was never made , I was so upset because I also had a appointment card say I had an appointment that day at 1pm, I spoke to India and she told me that I would have to wait for an open spot , I was upset so I ask to speak to someone else and Yesica came , I was explaining that this is upsetting because there staff failed to complete my appointment, instead Yesica just repeated in a louder tone that I would have to wait. When I finna got seen they gave me the same lady that messed up my appointment, I'm like just great. And it gets worst after I had my pee sample tested the next day i get a call from Jessica saying I have a UTI and my perscription was sent to Richmond Walgreens and this is now 3 pm 9/2 and when I went to Walgreens pharmacy they said it was never sent , I called back to ask if it was sent and then they said it was sent at 3:52 pm, now it's 7:00 and I still dont have my prescription, now I'm calling the CCRMC advice line to see what's going on , i don't feel comfortable with this place , i feel I have to double check with them to make sure there together, I'm going to go somewhere else because this is my first child and there starting me with there service, I pray the get it together because this is my health read more

Worst lifetime movie of my life: After a week of being sick from meds 10/26(huge blue horse pill) Not only was I this strange "3%" they kept telling me about that the meds "don't work for" but I was left in the waiting room 2 hours past my appointment time, with no communication from ANYONE in the reception area reassuring me that I have not been forgotten about while EVERYONE before and after me gets seen comes back and forth from the back and eventually gone AND IM STILL HERE , and was told " I needed to come alone aka kid free for two hours " DONE! What a big waste of $75 for a short notice sitter, that I ended up not needing because two hours passed and I was seen by ANYONE! So I leave VERY ANGRY to get my kid AND THERE WAS NOTHING GOING ON THAT HE COULD NOT SEE !!! I didn't understand- moving forward 10/29 I'm still sick 11/1 The Follow up: I come in expecting the same results seems like the team was on it cuz their "crazy " patient is back and I assume they are trying to get me out as fast as possible Ultrasound: technician proceeded to do her Job gloveless!!! That's WITHOUT gloves!!!!!!! She proceeded to tell me: " usually during breast exams are usually don't wear gloves and I'm not going to be touching you anyway" My response: "this is not a fuckin breast exam you are here for the wrong thing, are you even a doctor, nurse do you even really work in the medical field because I have never in my life seen anybody in this professional field touch any person without gloves on even if it's just for a simple examination I need you to Put on gloves because you are going below my navel and you're using an apparatus that is a probe" She is looking at me as if I just stole something from her like I'm wrong for needing HER TO ACTUALLY wear gloves I have no idea where she came from behind the door before walking into the exam room but I didn't see any actual handwashing it was a sink in the room! SO MUCH MORE TOO TELL BUT I HAVE SAID ENOUGH RELEVANT TO THIS SITUATION! Anyway my Point is I will never be back ever and I hope this review helps everyone else not go there and go to Walnut Creek if they need any type of help for anything medical if they do not have any insurance or if they don't want to keep it private do not go to this facility read more

This is going to be a mixed reviews based on my very short visit here and a friends on going visits that she has had here. Planned parenthood is a great place for teens and young adults to come and get information and prevention about pregnancy and STD. They also provide information on different birth controls and abortions. They do have doctors here and they will see you free of charge if you don't have medical insurance. I came here to get birth control and ask about their morning after pill (which I heard was cheaper here) and they told me that I didn't qualify for their services because I had two different types of insurances and that I would have to pay out of pocket for their services and for the medicine. My friend, who didn't have medical insurance at the time, got free services here and got everything she needed. She felt very safe coming here and comfortable. She said the staff is great but the wait can be long and because this office is located in a medics building the parking situation can get kinda crazy. read more

For the most part this place is great. Easy to find and get to. The staff are usually very pleasant. They are very helpful. Kind of a one stop shop type of place. The staff are all very knowledgable and super sweet. They make me feel safe when I'm in for a visit. Though services are a bit slow sometimes (long waits), it still is a great facilities. Once I was asked for a donation by a staff member and that day I truthfully had no cash on me and I had told the nurse that, but it seemed like she didn't believe me, because before I left she asked again saying "any donation you can contribute would be great" That was a bit awkward. read more

About 2 months ago I came here on a Saturday morning for my appointment. About 2 mins into being there I started getting anxious (while I was in line) within 5 mins I was in full blown anxiety attack mode. The nurses and all workers quickly came to my rescue. They had me in a wheel chair, had ice on my head, and doing everything they possibly could to calm me down. Everybody was so kind and so nice and I was just a mess. I would especially like to thank "Mo" who was with me the whole time from when I got there until I left. She held my hand, rubbed my back, talked me through my attack. She was so sweet and so kind and I want to thank you Mo, so much for being there. After an hour or so I was calm enough and had my exams and everything done, and Mo never left me, (except to bring me ice and water). I'm still in awe of how nice everybody was after such a horrible anxiety attack, I was so embarrassed and scared and Mo saved the day. So thanks to all of you that were there and looked after me and being such great workers and especially for being so compassionate and kind. read more

I love the staff at this planned parenthood at hilltop, Richmond. I first came to them when I found out I was pregnant and with no insurance. They were very helpful and I ended up getting MediCal. I loved loved loved Jessica who is so friendly and patient, warm and caring. She's the clinician who would see me for my appointment visits. I'm glad they assign you to one person so that you can have a bond with them. I wish she could always be my regular doctor I could go to for anything. I was also seen by one other clinician who was also great, very warm and caring when Jessica was on vacation. All the medical staff there were so friendly. No one was judgemental, they gave me all my options. The only thing was that I could say was that I had to transfer my care to the Richmond Health Clinic because they couldn't see me after 34 weeks in my pregnancy. But they always followed up with me and I had my post-par tum visit with them. I just love the staff there, I never felt rushed and every time I had my appointment, I never had to wait long except for once when another patient before me was late and was taking too long (probably had too many questions, but again that's a good thing because they don't rush you). I haven't been there for any other services though. read more
