This is primarily about Quest's dysfunctional IT/phone/communications/databases/automatic operator/AI operator. For the largest lab US - in theory -Quest's IT is so dysfunctional, its an obstacle. Even the simplest questions can't be handled on the phone. Nor do they have a chat/text facility for simple questions. Far from up-to-date for a major health service provider, their website is not even graduate-student quality - is grade-school quality - as in the 1st attempt of someone in an intro web class. One must conclude that management simply doesn't care about their troublesome customers, and the need to come into the TWENTIETH CENTURY in re DATABASES. The receptionist and phlebotomist were very good, but whoever maintains the bathroom is NOT doing their job. There was NO soap at the sink and NO sterile wet wipes -- despite the fact that posted instructions said to wash your hands and use a wet wipe to sterilize your privates! Also, the urine cabinet was full of other patients' urine samples. I had to stack my sample onto another patient's container. People, be professional. read more

Not my place of choice,they rush you and I didn't have enough urine for my drug screen so what happened?So you have to wait 30 minutes to try again.They give you two little cups of water to drink,and it's from a gallon jug.I asked for more water,what did they say? I came here yesterday at 10:30a for my appointment to do general bloodwork. Wait wasn't long and I was shown to room 2. The phlebotomist was a middled ages white women with a pixie cut (didn't get her name). She was really rough with the needle In my right arm. She was able to draw blood except for 1 vial. She tried looking for a vein in my left arm for about 10 seconds before she decides she's going to go through my right hand. This has never happened to me before. It was really painful and she didn't draw any blood. She she did it for no reason. She then left to find a different phlebotomist which she should've done from the start since she didn't have the skills to find a vein in my left arm. Phlebotomist 2 helps me and she's is really nice and super apologetic. She's able to find the vein in my left arm pretty quickly and was really gentle. Phlebotomist 1 with the pixie cut didn't apologize for causing me unnecessary pain and made it seem like it was my fault she couldn't find my vein. I got poked 3 times. Next I wasn't able to urine in the test cup and I asked phlebotomist 1 if I could have some water. She rudely told me to go buy some. When she saw my blank expression she said I could go home and come back before 2pm. I said ok. Before she was about to hand me the cup she said "you're going to come before 2pm right???" She was super condescending and rude to me. I just wanted to get out of there ASAP because I was in pain. I ended up crying in my car in the parking lot. Phlebotomist 1 shouldn't be a phlebotomist. She doesn't have the skills nor does she have the bedside manners a healthcare professional should have. She shouldn't be working there period. Today my right arm hurts a lot more than my left and so does my right hand. I don't want to come back here again and be treated like I did. I was pleasantly surprised with my trip to this Quest. I am what is referred to as a "hard stick"--due to genetics I have small, crappy veins that burst when they get poked. I explained this to Jenny, and she told me not to worry. She kept me engaged in the conversation so I wouldn't notice what she was doing, and she hit me first try and got somewhere around 8 vials of blood. This is an amazing feat, considering that I have had situations where it takes hours to get blood or run an IV, and Jenny made it look easy. Needless to say, when I need blood work done I will only be coming to Quest when Jenny is working. Needing blood work usually results in me being poked 20+ times over an hour period, then leaving with bruises and bandaids everywhere, so I am super happy right now. Besides Jenny's awesomeness, the lab was very clean, and I was taken back within 5 minutes of arriving. Everyone else with whom I spoke was also very professional, so I definitely recommend this Quest location. Ask for Jenny! read more

Went in without an appointment today. I was seen in about 10 mins if that. I went early so I'm sure that helped. Everyone was really nice and it was super clean! I don't get blood drawn well, I almost always get to the point of passing out so they laid me down from the start. The lady who drew my blood was awesome! I feel terrible because I can't remember her name was she was so sweet and I didn't even hardly feel the stick. I had 9 tubes of blood drawn and it felt like nothing. Still in shock after my experience today. I arrived to my appt for a blood draw at 11:10 this morning. They took me right away so that was promising however it didn't take long for them to mess that up. The lady doing my draw could not figure something out on the computer so she called in a coworker to help they figured it out after about 10 mins. Now there was a issue with my actual test she calls in the coworker again they can't figure it out. They then call their manager on the phone who proceeds to continually hang up on them KNOWING a patient is in the room! After being unsuccessful for another 10 mins they call in a 3rd employee now holding up EVERYONE in this building. Now the 3 of them are in this 5 by 5 room arguing with each other in front of me! One is complaining about needing to take her lunch then suma is her name whips her head to me asking where's my "kit" as if it's my fault they don't know how to do their job. At 11:50 Suma then tells me they just aren't going to be able to do one of my draws. Not only was this a timed draw that was supposed to be completed at 11:10 but im having a procedure later this week and NEEDED the labs done. I then got into an argument with suma that this is very embarrassing for them and unprofessional. She told me "you can't talk to my employees like that." First of all i was talking to her because she was the one with attitude during this whole situation... second of all what I said was true it was very embarrassing and unprofessional of them to be arguing in front of me and not knowing how to do their jobs. I then decided I wasn't going to trust these people to take my blood so I told her I was going to leave. Keep in mind not once during this whole situation did I receive any sort of apology for having to sit and listen to them argue for 40'mins... they could have stepped out or politely asked me to step out of the room whilst they figured it out. I work in retail and would NEVER behave this way/embarrass myself like that in front of a customer. quest is a MEDICAL CENTER there is 0 tolerance for the way they behaved I'm supposed to trust these people to put a needle in me???? The people here clearly don't have the proper education or social skills and are rejects from other careers/medical fields. Luckily my mom is in the medical field and has direct contact with quest HQ so hopefully none of u reading this ever have to experience suma. If you have the option PLEASE go somewhere else... the interior of this place is also disgusting and leaves me terrible bruising. read more

I am so bummed I experienced this horrible lady that works here, she is older in age, white lady. We arrived checked in about eight minutes later a lady open the door and ask for my daughters name, she is a minor so I walked with her over to the door the lady that was taking us back started the appointment very rudely - turning her head away from us saying follow me looking at the orders from the doctor and then saying she didn't understand something mumbling to herself very frustrated walked out of the room without an exclamation and when she came back in I told her this was my daughter's first time and wanted to make the experience pleasant she looked confused very insulting that she didn't understand when I first said this so I said it again this is my daughter's first time and I'd love for it to be a good experience and my daughter is very nervous, she started raising her voice at me this is how I talk, this is just how I talk and I said well you sound angry! She then kind of flopped her hands onto her waist frustrated again I decided she was not taking my daughters blood, we went back out to the lobby waiting for the next lady to take us back, she was very lovely took my daughters blood and we left. Dr.'s orders we had to come back again two weeks later, to my frustration that lady was working again, I prayed, please don't call my daughters name here she comes -opened the door with the same attitude mumbling under her breath very frustrated I hoped it wasn't going to be bad. We walked back into the room she starts again having a problem with the orders from the doctor seems, like she just doesn't want to be there, I mentioned to her again my daughter gets nervous do you remember me from last time she turned towards me No, I do a lot of people. OK well I liked it to be a good experience for my daughter is there somebody else that could do the blood, she says, she's busy you could just leave so I waited out in the lobby for a few minutes and my daughter was so uncomfortable we decided to go back to Good Samaritan and have a blood pulled by somebody there that was so kind, warmed my daughters arm, talked kindly to us, acted very professional! I will never come back to this Quest lab in WG again! Bummer!! read more

I went in for a drug test today for employment and I think there is some room for improvement at this location. For one, it would be nice to have the check in sign tell customers that they can check in on the computer with or without an appointment. The sign for those without an appointment was covered and that was confusing and it made it seem like those without an appointment had to check in at the front desk. The receptionist at front desk was also very rude to me. I asked her if she could just give me some sort of estimation of how long it would take to be called and she said that she could not tell me. My mother, who was also with me at the time, was growing impatient and asked me to ask the receptionist again. This time when I asked, the receptionist assumed that I was asking to go before others because I said I had class in about an hour and needed to know how long it would take. I was just trying to figure out if I should have the drug test today or if I should just go at another time. She told me with an attitude, "If you have school, you have school" and started to get argumentative. I then tried to explain to her that I just wanted an estimate of how long it would take and that I did not have the intention to go before others. She told me she couldn't tell me because I would get mad at her if she told me I would be called 15 minutes and I wasn't called. I understand her reasoning, but it would have been a lot nicer if the receptionist had not been so rude. If I am required to take a drug test for employment in the future, I doubt I will go back to this location. Although the person administering my drug test was nice (which is why I'm giving a 2 star review), I feel that the employees at this location should be trained to be understanding and patient with customers. read more

I've never had a problem with quest but I went in for my blood work yesterday and I ended up super upset. I walked in it was maybe about noon and there was no one waiting I was taken back really fast got my blood drawn and left my urine sample. I was happy. Like 40 min later I got a call from "UNKNOWN" and they left a voicemail that said that I didn't leave my urine sample and that I should've because it was part of my order. I went back and told the lady that drew my blood her name was CINDY that I did in fact leave my urine sample because I clearly remember putting it in the sample collection thing they have in the bathroom. She said no you didn't. LIKE WHAT!!!!!!!! So apparently I'm crazy now and I imagine stuff because how are you going to tell me I didn't do something when I clearly did. If you spilled it I would rather be told the truth I get that accidents happen!!! But don't lie to my face!!!! Aren't you supposed to be professional!!! Soooo annoying!!!! read more

Location: small plaza, nice and quiet in the morning with plenty of parking. Major cross streets are Bird and Willow. My appointment was at 7:15am, I arrived at 7:05am. The front desk girl, Rosemary, was polite and efficient, patiently answered all my questions (my doctor's order was to a different lab, but Quest can do it, actually you can go to any lab you want to. I go to Quest because Aetna has a special contract with them). As soon as all paperwork was taken care of other girl, Sophie, called me in and took the blood gently and carefully, we were talking during all 4 vials, no pain, no bruise after, just a dot. This concerns the Quest lab that services the Urgent Care at 625 Lincoln Avenue in San Jose. First they said they would provide Covid-19 results 4-5 days. Then the said 5 to 7 days. Now, after waiting a week, they are saying 7 to 10 days. The problem is that, when the test results are not available until after the quarantine period, taking the test is not helpful. Others have told me they got FREE tests at the SAP Center and got their results in 3 days. Quest should stop taking in the samples for tests if it cannot provide the results in a reasonable time period and 7-10 days is not reasonable. Save yourself the suspense - do NOT get tested at Quest or anywhere that uses Quest. They are not getting the job done and are not honest enough to just say that and limit the tests they are taking to the ones they can provide results for in 3-5 days. This is doing a serious disservice to its patients. read more

go elsewhere. i showed up at appointment, they could not find doctor's orders. so i went home, had doctor fax orders to me, and i carried them in. they drew one vial in an amateurish manner. and hour later, i get called to come back and have it redrawn, the draw was bad and had hemolized. the second draw, third visit, was a similar hunt and poke amateur hour. and the doctor never received any result from them. but i have two nice large hematomas to show for it. read more

Showed up at 7:10, left by 7:40. Yeah, a bit of a wait, but I didn't have an appointment, so definitely impressed me. There were only two staff working, however they couldn't be more efficient. Wish I would've gotten their names- but to the two young women working this morning: kudos to you! I visited a different location last week with 5+ staff who couldn't manage their lobby with the same amount of people the way it was done this morning. Went in around mid afternoon on a Thursday and was able to get in around 12 minutes after arriving. I had to get a routine blood test. Gentleman that was working the counter was the same that drew my blood. He was presentable and made good small talk to make me comfortable. He found the vein right away and went in the side of my arm which he said was less painful than where most commonly draw from. The last few times I had blood drawn, they had a difficult time finding the vein. Based on how quick and easy he made this seem, the other places I went were likely just much more amateur. Didn't hurt and I was out of there in a couple more minutes. All in all, probably 15 minutes total from arrival to departure. read more

I am so angry right now. I made an appointment to visit this center at 8am for some extensive lab work ordered by my doctor. I arrived, and was told that one of the tests they couldn't do this morning, because they can only do it in the afternoon. I asked if I could make an appointment to have that test run this afternoon. I was told I would be treated as a walk in if I came back. I said not to worry about it, I would just make an appointment for the other test, because I don't think I should be treated like a walk-in and made to wait for something that they didn't advertise when I made my appointment and fasted all night for. I sat back down and waited to be called to the back. A person, who I assume was a phlebotomist walked up front and took my orders from the receptionist and asked what the problem was... the receptionist told him, as the phlebotomist read my paperwork, said "this is for Sutter Health, we don't have to advertise anything, he can just come back and wait." I was furious at such a callous, and rude customer service. My insurance pays thousands of dollars a month in lab tests, and I was giving Quest a chance. Due to the incredible rudeness and disrespect shown by this employee, I will never give this company any of that money as long as I have a choice. read more

Easy to find in a corner shopping center on Willow and Bird with plenty of parking. My appointment was at 9:15am, I arrived at 9. There were 4 people ahead of me. The front desk girl, Rose was also the Phlebotomist. (If I were the office manager, I would have more than one employee.) By 9:20 Rose was drawing my blood and by 9:25 I was walking out the door. Rose was very gentle, no pain just a little pinch in the beginning. She drew 4 vials with little to no movement when switching out the vials. Whew. read more
