Amazing care and quick service from this place. This is definitely one of the better facilities to get blood work done, and it looks like they've recently renovated the area as well. I made an appointment and was seen within 10 minutes, even on a day where they were short staffed. They still managed to remain on schedule, and I was in and out pretty quickly. Nancy, the person taking care of me, was such a sweetheart and so compassionate towards my health situation, even sharing a bit of her own experience to make me feel comfortable. I mentioned that I was a little bit squeamish with blood draws, and she did an excellent job of distracting me. I can tell she's very skilled, she drew my blood with little to no poking around for my veins. I had no bruising, soreness or excess bleeding. Most places I've gone to would've left my arm sore for a day or two with bruising, but not here. I was back to using my arm normally within an hour. Nancy took the time to explain to me how to do my stool test at home with very clear instructions to make sure I understood. Amazing patient communication from her. To the people leaving bad reviews because they decided to "walk in" just know that these workers are trying very hard to stay on schedule and they simply cannot just take random people coming in, otherwise, the entire schedule would be delayed. That's unfair for those who took the time to SET up those appointments, just to have someone who walked in take priority. They just don't run things this way and I highly appreciate that they stick to their scheduling system because it keeps things running smoothly and respects everyone's time. Just from my experience in the lobby, I saw the staff handle people very compassionately when explaining that they couldn't accommodate walk-ins. I especially noticed the blonde staff member being incredibly patient and kind with elderly patients, children, and even people in wheelchairs. The staff here genuinely seems caring and professional. If you plan to come here, I recommend scheduling an appointment on their website. Schedule at least 2 days in advance because the time slots fill up quickly. Came here because the was the closest Quest Diagnostics within my vicinity. My daughter was in need of having a urine sample analysis and we were directed to go to any QD location. This particular spot was busy upon arrival but that was expected since appointments are recommended but are not required. Staff work at a slow pace so a wait is guaranteed whether you have a scheduled appointment or not. I'd come back if needed due to the experience being manageable. This location gets busy, but as long as you have an appointment it seems like they have a good system. Going to make sure the line keeps moving. Parking was not a problem. It's located in a strip mall type shopping plaza with a Mexican market next-door, where I ended up buying a watermelon. Horrible service! I took my mom to this location on a Friday. we arrived 12ish in the afternoon and we were second on the stand by list. My mom has appt with the doctor on Monday and need this to be done by today. There was no available appt online. So we had to drop in. We waited more than 2 hours, by close to 3pm, one of the staff came out and said we are not taking any drop in. That's super frustrating, they should let us know earlier if that is the case so we can go to other locations. No only we wasted our hours of time but not being able to get the lab result in to the doctors before her appt really get me super mad! read more

Very slow and incompetent staff; I was 10 minutes earlier than my appointment, but it took me more than one hour to complete plus the young girl poked me twice with big bruises on both arms. She didn't seem to take this job seriously and made me 25 minutes late for my next appointment. Will go to other quest locations that are much more professional. read more

I had a lab panel done and asked whether I needed to fast first. They said there were "no instructions" and refused to confirm that fasting was required, so I went ahead without doing so. Later I found out that fasting is often necessary -- especially for triglyceride measurements -- which means my results are invalid. read more

There was a handful of people and some people waiting outside. This place is a self check in spot. You will check in at the kiosk, there are about three different devices that you can use. These kiosk offers about 5 different languages. However, make sure you bring your drivers licenses, your insurance, and your paper of referral ( if you are referred here). Even though you were referred here, make sure you make an appointment online it will make your process 10 times faster. Everyone got there before me but I was the first to get checked in because I had an appointment. My appointment was scheduled at 11am. I arrived at 10:48. I sat down for a quick 3 mins before they called me in. I was directed into a room with a chair, where you will sit and rest your arm for them to draw your blood. In the back there multiple different rooms. The staff were nice, fast, and professional. I had to get 6 tubes drawn so it took a bit of time, but still fast. I was out by 11:05am. They will also send your information to your primary doctor, if you were referred there but they also provided a link where you could sign up and check the results. The results takes about 3-7 days ( which is what they claimed). Overall good experience :3 The lab is pretty clean. I also did not have problem looking for parking! read more

Showed up for a 3:10 appointment at 3:13. Granted I was 3 minutes late. I checked in at the kiosk and sat down to wait. I can hear all the people that work there in the back chatting socially. There are no other patients in the lobby. I waited about 5 minutes then figured I did something wrong at the kiosk so checked in again at 3:19 and sat back down. At this point a person comes out to tell me the are closed. (the sign on the door says they close at 3:30 btw). They wouldn't take me. Then they locked the door behind me as I left at 3:24pm. I get that I was a few minutes late and that's my fault but I also waited while the employees socialized in the back and then was told it was too late once I checked in a 2nd time trying to get their attention. Everyone was in the back so I couldn't wave or get anyone's attention. Maybe they still would have told me they were closed, even if it was 1 minute past my appointment time. Who knows. But what about the walking they supposedly serve until 3:30??? I'm a working mom. It is SO hard to get time away for these appointments. I broke down in tears in the parking lot because getting back here will present a whole host of challenges when I'm dealing with health issues whose treatment will now be delayed another week. I'm a fan of policy but you've got to be clear and consistent. If you actually close at 3:15, then say that. If you don't take people if they are late, even by a few minutes publish that. Also don't, sit around in the break room chatting with your coworkers while someone has been waiting in the lobby for 5 minutes for their appointment. The phlebotomists here are pretty good in my experience. Stephen was very thorough in helping me when a doctor failed to send in my correct lab order. He stayed later after his shift and contacted his superiors and I was able to get the labs done on time. Be aware that the majority of staff here do not mask. read more

I've been to multiple Quests for blood work and this one is the best I've been to! I came here for the first time about 10 minutes before my appointment and it was little bit busy (maybe 10 people waiting) and checked in. The check in machines say it needs a driver's license to check in (it scans it) but I was able to use my student ID, so any ID with your name and picture should work. I got called in within 5 minutes Austin was super nice! I told him that I tend to feel faint when getting blood drawn and without hesitation, he offered me the room that allows you to lay down. I'm terrified of needles but I hardly felt a thing. I didn't even feel faint at all! It was one of the least painful blood draws I've ever had. read more

The young Mexican lady was a bit rough on my arm. I got my blood drawn and when she put the needle in my arm I jumped because of how rough she was. I was sore for 3 days and now my arm is bruised. I don't know if it's normal for it to get bruised like this but she was rough and it was painful than usual. I simply asked a question of how long it would typically take for a check in person at this location and one of the ladies working there told me it could be an hour or even the whole day. Really lady? We all have jobs to go to and you're expecting me to wait all day for a test? And then I ask her if there a way to schedule an appointment, and she's just pointed to a QR code. Mind you their appointment system had issues as well. This lady was really try to make me go in circles at this location. Quest performed the required tests in late December, 2021. With all my insurance information at hand, they billed me over 400% of the amount they should have. When I called them to ask for clarification and a correction of the bill, Quest requested I asked my insurance company to send them a letter stating the correct amount (so their error suddenly becomes a responsibility of a third party). My insurance wrote to them, stating the correct amount to be billed. A few weeks later, I get another bill for the same incorrect error. I called again and when I mentioned the letter my insurance had sent them, Quest told me that they had probably "lost" the letter. I called my insurance, they agreed to to issue a second letter. A few weeks later, Quest acknowledged receiving the second letter and asked me to "please wait for the new bill in the mail". A few days later I get a bill for the same incorrect amount. I called Quest and they said "sorry" that the problem was with their system, "please be patient". Soon after that, I got an email stating that I owe them money, the incorrect amount, and to please "call the number in the email". I called and a clerk told me that my bill would "go to collections and ruin my credit score" (lit. bullying). I then got transferred to another person who apologized and told me that my bill was, yes, unpaid but that it was not going to collections yet and "sorry you were told that". Quest promised again to fix my bill, "please be patient". In late July 2022, I got another incorrect bill. Early July, I get a new email from Quest, asking me to contact the insurance company and "request an explanation of benefits with the correct codes". "Unfortunately", Quest is "unable to contact the insurance company" themselves and request that information. This makes no sense and is a brand new strategy to exhaust the client. I called the insurance, yet again. In short: While in possession of the correct insurance information, Quest billed the client incorrectly and burdens the client with the error and loses the letters from the insurance and harasses the client: client continues to be harassed to pay the incorrect amount. read more

My husband experienced the absolute worst treatment in our memory at his recent appointment at Quest on Alum Rock Avenue, San Jose. He arrived ten minutes prior to his 11:00 a.m. appointment and successfully signed in. He took a seat and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited... After nearly an hour and a half, using his walker, he stood and painfully approached a woman, obviously an employee, who had just come into the room. She was unbelievably rude, disrespectful, and discourteous to him. She put her opened hand, in much the way a police office might signal a traffic stop, right in my husband's face. I have seen this done to very young children, but to treat a senior citizen who was making a polite inquiry is truly despicable behavior that should never have occurred and should not be tolerated. What's more, after making her rude gesture, she turned away and chatted at length with someone in the room with whom she was obviously already well acquainted. Sometime later, a woman appeared at the desk. He approached the desk to inquire about the extremely long wait, but before he could even speak, she raised her voice and literally hollered, "Go sit down!" What kind of business tolerates employees that treat people this way, particularly a well-mannered older man? In the end, a young man named Austin came out, and my husband explained the long wait to him. Austin checked and came back apologetically, confirming that they had his appointment but that somehow it had been overlooked. He was polite and took my husband's blood sample. But, again, doesn't Quest do any kind of employee training? Do they not have any policies concerning courtesy to their customers? Are they not taught to be careful in checking the appointment records? And, finally, why should we or anyone else ever go there and subject ourselves to this kind of dreadful treatment. On a time crunch, I had to get a blood test done with pretty much a day's notice--and my only option was to go sometime Saturday, which is typically the most crowded. I live in the East Bay but didn't want to risk waiting hours in line without an appointment, so on Friday evening I searched for a location that still had Saturday appointments available. This one was the one with the greatest number of time slots still open! I easily booked my appointment online, came in the next morning and sorted out my forms/insurance info with the receptionist, and immediately went in for the test. Super fast--I was in and out in about 20 minutes. Everyone I interacted with was really friendly as well! Impressive, given it was just past 7am on a Saturday. The person who drew my blood (Nancy, an awesome human) engaged me in a fun conversation throughout the entire process to distract me from all the stuff spurting out of my arm into 6 successive vials :) There is ample parking at this location as well! Quest has the worst online user experience ever. What a mess! You pay for the test. Don't receive any email telling you what to do next. You login again, do what you need to schedule on appointment. Go to a facility with nobody receiving you. You go on an internal personal identification loop that doesn't work on your cellphone, than it blocks you for 72 hours. Contact form limits your message lenght. The automatic email answer says your inquiry is related to billing, which it is not. If the lab is as bad as the UX, I wouldn't trust their lab restult. read more

I had an appointment at Quest Diag San Jose for my wellness blueprint and blood work. Initially there was a mix up with the lab order. It was already 10:20 AM which is beyond the normal working hours on a Saturday when I approached Melissa and Stefani explaining them about the mixup, they were very gracious to help me to resolve the mixup with the lab order but they also extended their work hours to get my blood drawn and take care of me. One other thing; My viens were very small and they both worked together using a small collecting tube to collect blood so as to avoid pricking again. I would greatly appreciate Melissa and Stefani going above and beyond to ensure a patient is taken care well. This is highest level of customer support that one can offer. I arrived around 6:00 a.m. for my 6:15 appointment. However, the line to check in on the kiosk was long. Once I got up to the kiosk I had no problem and was quickly asked for my insurance card. I was called to the back room around 6:30. In no time the phlebotomist drew blood and was given a cup for urine sample. Over I find quest to be un organized and not all staff the tend be very rude.the office tends to be clean. If you can lab work done some where you might better off I refuse to every to back to a quest. If they act tougher I might return. Overall I find them to be a big joke.
