I went to Skye Rose for my first Brazilian wax with a friend. The setting was quite and very intimate, with a TV and drinks. We went a day ahead make an appointment because we found her on Groupon. Skye was very professional, informal and fun. She answered any question we had. Skye allow me and my friend to sit in on each other's session. It's was actual very pleasant! She make me feel like I had known her for years. I even got to enjoy a cup of honey vanilla tea. She used a CHOCOLATE WAX which smell amazing! Her technique helped minimize my pain (a wax virgin). I like that she didn't use huge strips, and was sensitive to my body. I would recommend anyone to Skye, she is just lovely. I'm excited to go back in a couple of weeks. A little background: I travel around the US for work and have been getting Brazilian waxes every 4-8 weeks since 2014 at lots of different salons. I've been told my numerous salons that black and Indian hair is the hardest hair to wax and that I should essentially just prepare myself for some pain because of my "stubborn" hair I've also been told "do not shave" because it'll make the next wax session EXTRA painful. Well, I just moved to Chicago for work temporarily and I was in desperate need of a wax. After reading all the yelp reviews I picked Queen Noir. Sky was booked out for a month so in the meantime, I had to shave. I walked into Sky's and immediately was welcomed by her in a "hey friend" kind of way. (Her salon is beautiful btw). The nitty gritty: the session was AMAZING. I was expecting pain because I shaved BUT if there is ever such a thing as a pain free Brazilian wax, this was it. This was THE BEST wax I have ever received. I personally hate hard wax, I hate when they have to pull it off of your skin, the initial pull kills me, so I prefer the wax strips (larger surface area, quick pull etc). Sky uses the strips. I found out at the end of the session that she used a special combination of waxes on my skin (including her chocolate wax) because I guess shaving actually did make my hair more stubborn BUT I wouldn't have known that my hair was stubborn because as I stated earlier the session was damn near pain free. Sky clearly knows what she's doing. She adjusted for my skin and hair and it was my FIRST time with her. Ok so - I have very sensitive skin. Not fake sensitive skin - after I go try on clothes at a department store i have welts like I have been in a war with a raptor. Hence, my wax experiences have not been so good - I always leave with a bit of skin missing - until now. So I was a first timer and I was nervous but Skye was so helpful and she just chatted with me the whole time and seriously way less pain than expected. If you can sit through a tattoo I feel that you could sit through this! She also uses chocolate wax which is better for the skin and it hurts a lot less! It smells so good too!! I cannot believe how painless this wax really was! Obviously waxing hurts a bit but this is the closest you'll ever get to a "comfortable" wax. Skye is great at what she does! I have been patronizing this business for about a year or two and up until this point I have been pleased. However, today was a HUGE disappointment. I scheduled an appointment 2 months ago through their scheduling system Schedulicity. During the course of the past 2 months leading up to my appointment they changed their scheduling site. Since I scheduled my appointment through their old system 2 months ago I figured my appointment should still be valid, but unfortunately that was not the case. My appointment was scheduled with Nakia today at 2, when I entered the establishment the female working the front desk informed me that I scheduled with the old system and someone should've called me. She went on to say that Nakia was not there and she was at the South Holland location today. I then asked if there was anyone else who could service me and she informed me that everyone else was completely booked. The receptionist attempted to reschedule me for Monday and I informed her that Monday 2/8 is my birthday and that wouldn't be a good day. She suggested other days during the week and I informed her that my cycle will be starting and I would prefer not to be serviced during my cycle. The next suggestion was to drive to the South Holland location which is not convenient for me since I had already driven from 109th and Halsted to 47th street and now she was attempting to get me to drive all the way to South Holland. Mind you, never once has she picked up the phone to find out if Nakia would've even been available today. Her last ditch effort was to suggest for me to wait until 3pm to see IF one of the other ladies at the 47th street location could service me today. At that point I was so annoyed and livid that I walked out. Not once was an apology made until my back was turned and I was on my way out the door I heard her mutter, "sorry". Not once was a courtesy extended for my inconvenience. I am not writing this review to try to obtain anything from the business, I'm writing this bad review so that others can know what they may be in for. Also, the business needs to know of this issue and DO BETTER. read more

I absolutely love coming here for my wax. Star had me in and out in less then 30 minutes and Nicky is very talkative and distracted me from the pain. My only issue is the very limited parking. I went to Skye Rose with a Groupon for a Brazilian and was happy when I got there because she was very nice and easy to talk to but after the wax I had to go to the bathroom to wipe myself down because I still had wax on and it was sticking to my clothes. She mentioned that she doesn't use tweezers and so there were patches which was okay I guess. The part that I was upset about was that when she started the wax she told me the wax was going to be a little hot but that it should be fine but 2 days after the wax I looked down and my skin was flaky and was peeling. Also I was sore for a couple of days because she took a little bit of skin off... I was looking forward to going back because she gave me a good deal for next time but there is no way I'm going back no matter how nice or how cheap it was. I found Skye on Groupon when I was looking to get waxed the groupon was for a $25 Brazilian which most of ladies know that's a steal. I live in the south loop so it was close and easy to get to. When I got there she had a really nice little private office with a separate waxing room. She was very friendly and did a great job.
