After finding out my waxer was retiring, I was looking for a someone who was reasonably priced and nearby. I am so lucky to have found Sharren. My appointment was at noon but I had a few errrands to run in the area, so I was thrilled when Sharren called saying that she could take me earlier if I was available. The studio is a mix of independent salons/artists, so it was a bit hard to find, but Sharren was looking for me. We're in the gym, and I can only feel sorry for your companion because you my buff, middle-aged, weight lifting friend are quite furry. Please, I mean no offence as I was once like you, but I found a great place to take care of that extra fluff. I have unruly brows. Waxing has never worked for me. Tweezing is ok but I eventually figured out that my brow removal method of choice was threading. Not everyone is great at this and over the years have really struggled to find a reliable brow pro. After our first appointment over a year ago I was sold. Sharren made me feel completely at ease and welcomed, and I can see her being trusted with body waxing - she seems genuinely interested in customers and lovely to talk to. In terms of my regular brow waxing needs, I thought that it missed the mark. I came in to clean up softly arched brows and left with a steep arch, which wasn't what I was looking for. Since I was new, I think better communication could have better results, such as asking about preferences or providing direction before waxing. I have been seeing Sharren for 7 years now as she is truly the best wax technician ever!! Before seeing Sharren I saw my fair amount of wax technicians. I was always unsatisfied especially with the discomfort felt during the process. I was then referred to Sharren and have not seen anyone else ever since! I love her and her work so much that I followed her to her very own wax studio. She's warm, welcoming, and really cares about making her clients feel comfortable and relaxed. She routinely does my brow threading and brazilians, plus scheduling is super easy making it convenient (which brazilians never are)...especially if you live in the Wicker Park neighborhood. I've gone to some really amazing places and really sketchy places in New York, San Francisco, and Chicago. Having moved to Chicago a few years ago I couldn't find a place that was consistently good and there were not many options in Wicker Park that you could rely on. Sharren is a must especially since you cannot trust just anyone with waxing -- she will take care of you! She'll even throw in a sense of humor, which I find is a refreshing distraction when getting something like a wax done. My hair puts up a fight, but she's always quick and uses techniques that minimizes the chance of my sensitive skin reacting.
