Ahhhh yes...I decided to once again, begin waxing my delicate lady parts. I used to do it years ago…read moreat Trim, when I lived in Humboldt Park. However, when I moved south I didn't feel like finding a new person so I broke out the trusty Venus. Yeah, she cool and errythang, but the daily upkeep and prickly, porcupine aftermath was just annoying. So I began my search. After googling Black-owned waxing salons, my search turned up Queen Noir. Location perfect and reviews even better, so I signed up. Was I nervous when I walked in? Yep. Did I have flashbacks to the time my delicate lady parts got scorched from an overly-aggressive waxer? Hellz yeah! But I put my big girl panties on, pimped into the waxing room, hopped on the table and "butterflied". My memories of being waxed in the past overtook me, so with each snatch of the cloth, I braced for the worst...but in all actuality, it really wasn't that bad. Nikki was patient, yet diligent and had me smoother than a baby's tush. Mama was pleased and Mama will be back. Gold star for Queen Noir!

However, the situation became less satisfactory when scheduled appointments were disrupted, and I was informed that my esthetician was unavailable, with the suggestion to book with another. Waxing is a very personal and intimate service, and many clients prefer to maintain consistency with their esthetician rather than having a new person for such private procedures. The quality of service provided by Denae was excellent, and I was genuinely disappointed to learn of her departure. Unfortunately, no forwarding contact information was provided, and I was simply told that other estheticians were available.

For the most part I was just getting them done back in Phoenix when I was in town. Welp...I needed a local person so the hunt began. I researched plenty of Esthencians in the area. My phone was clearly spying on me and put Astrid on my radar. I saw a few examples of her hair removal via shorts and was intrigued. I liked to support local businesses when I can so decided to book an appointment. Booking on her website was really easy. I was able to see all of the services offered...and even some monthly specials. I opted for the full bikini sugaring. This includes front of vagina, sides of vagina and butt strip area. Whew...it needed to be done. Astrid was gentle, informative and got the sugaring done. I am happy with my results and after-care guidelines. I will be back in 4 to 6 weeks for follow-up. If you need some hair removal...come check this place out. Bonus is there is plenty of free street parking. Tip: Astrid also does facials and chemical peels. So you can accomplish alot in one visit.

It was easy to make an appointment online. My appointment started right on time. Julia took her time with my brows to make sure I got exactly what I wanted. She mapped out my ideal brow shape and used a combination of waxing, tweezing, and trimming to get them looking perfect. She was very gentle too - I barely felt the wax removal! Pricing is fair and on par with other specialty waxers in the area. I had a much better experience here than I did at waxing chains in the area. I will come back here again and have Julia do my brows when it is time for a touch up.
