After shoulder surgery four months ago I was limited with the type of exercise and I developed tight tissue/muscle pain in different parts of my body. I noticed two toes were getting stiff, restricting my leg from certain movements and cramps. My thigh muscles pain restricted me from raising my left to tighten my shoe lace. Today. It's been a minute since I've been back here. It's $50 per hour or 75 for 90 minutes. The location is in a small strip mall in Los Alamitos. It isn't a fancy place and the walls are semi thin so you can hear all conversations going on. My therapist, Lucy is my favorite. She does deep tissue even though you're paying for a regular massage and she's really the bomb. This place is way better than any Massage Envy although it doesn't have the fancy aromas and lighting. They had the usual music playing, dim lighting and was quiet enough considering the thin walls. Front desk lady was very accommodating and polite. I was concerned that I would make a mess since I was lactating and she was able to accommodate with a cushion. Maggie was my massage therapist and she was amazing. Maggie was able to get in deep on my neck and back. She focus on my knots I had upper shoulders. She was attentive and made sure to ask of everything was ok periodically. I prefer strong and hard massages and she stayed consistent with the strength throughout the massage. I have a lot of knots since it's been a while so she couldn't get them all. Having had very little massage experience, we expected a 20% tip to be standard, and my mom had wanted to contribute by covering it. That's when the tone completely shifted, with the three women who had helped us asking if "that was it" and then laughing. The whole thing felt incredibly awkward and mean spirited; we would've been happy to adjust our tip if they had just explained. We ended up adjusting it anyways to 40% because we didn't intend to short anyone, but the whole time the ladies were snickering and giving us looks. I guess we had missed the small sign on the desk that recommends we tip $25 a person, and I'm seeing it talked about some of the other reviews. The receptionist was very patient and kind and asked me which oil I would like and told me about the different ones they offer. I told her I have pain and she told me to go with the tiger balm one and let me smell it. I chose this place despite seeing several reviews mentioning poor time management, so I made sure to track the time carefully when my massage started. During the session, the therapist attempted to end the massage about 10 minutes early, which I did not agree to. The therapist did not manage the session time properly. The final 15 minutes felt rushed and lacked consistency. At one point, another staff member entered the room and spoke to the therapist in Chinese, after which the therapist again tried to finish the session early. Time management should be the responsibility of the massage therapist, not the client. The massage itself was average and did not stand out in quality. read more

I appreciate a strong massage, but as I told the person at the front, there is a difference between "strong" and "rough" and they guy was absolutely rough: the massage manipulation involved lots of elbows and forearms on bone (rather than on muscle). I flinched many times during the experience, but the masseur wasn't as intuitive as I'd hoped, especially given the language barrier. I get deep tissue massage 2x a month elsewhere, so I know what a therapeutic but relaxing experience should feel like. In any case, my husband enjoyed his massage, so there's that. Also, please keep in mind that the prices on the picture are outdated and will add about 10$ to the service. Their prices are reasonable for what you get. read more

It's my 4th time coming here and I always love my massages, however I went in on Sunday (2:30 pm) and paid for an 80min massage and was walking out with my clothes on at 3:43 pm). This place is legit. I've been here a few times and each was a great experience. Yesterday I called to make an appointment for a 60 minute foot massage. They were able to take me right away. I live nearby so I was on the table in less than 10 minutes. Bear in mind that Chinese massage is different from Swedish massage. You won't get a lot of long, smooth strokes with Chinese massage, but rather the approach is more of applying pressure to localized areas to relieve stress. "Michael" was my massage therapist yesterday. I was surprised that my 60 minute foot massage started with him putting my feet in a warm soak while he then proceeded to massage my forehead, scalp, and neck. NICE. He went on to massage my feet using that same localized pressure. Heavenly. When done, he instructed me to turn over on my stomach. He went on to massage the knots between my shoulder blades and paid extra attention to my back. Bonus. Great prices. Friendly staff who are dedicated to their art.
