From a renter's perspective, RPM Midwest is a great company to work with to find your new home…read more Needing to downsize, and having only a month or so to move after the sale of my old home, I searched for rental properties online and made inquiries about several different homes from various rental companies. RPM was the only rental agency to actually contact me back, and they reached out to me in less than a day after sending my initial inquiry. Rental Agent Bonnie Louis did a great job in finding the time to show us the house and to work out the details of the lease within the necessary timeframe. And, it's a beautiful house in a fantastic subdivision too! I've had to use RPM's online maintenance request portal just one time due to a furnace issue, and the response time and follow-up to the problem was fantastic. No more dealing with landlords who ignore problems and take weeks to fix things. A furnace repairman was there within hours. Good job RPM Midwest team!

I have used RPM for several years for a property in Columbus. In the past couple years they have…read morebecome very poor. The landscaping services are poor, my property became the eyesore on the the block. Their maintenance and repair is now very poor, allowing problems to linger and get worse. They do find tenants and collect rent. But my property value and rent price have dropped because they have allowed the property to degrade. I do not recommend them to anyone.

I lived at the Ravenswood about two years ago. In that time, I reported unsanitary conditions,…read morefaulty and unsafe electrical configurations, experienced repeated heating and cooling failures, a theft when the management was showing my apartment when I was planning on leaving, and out-dated internet connectivity. I should also mention, my wife worked remotely at the time and due to their building and their maintenance staff's incompetency, she was no longer able to work remotely because the line for our internet was cut while work was being performed on the building. By cut, I mean that the cable that brought cable and internet into the building was severed and took several weeks to get repaired. I broke my lease early due to the aforementioned conditions. I was concerned about the health and welfare of my infant child and son with special needs, all of which I explained to management. I paid the extremely exorbitant rent because the building was in a very safe and accessible area of town, so my issue is not with Uptown's pricing model. I understand they exist to turn a profit. My issue is that after I expressed my concerns, no action beyond spraying for bugs (once) was ever taken. The management never did anything to address the root cause of the numerous issues with their building. ***edit (4/23/2019)*** After working with one of the managers (Greg) at Uptown, we came to an agreement that suited both our needs. While I am not happy with how we ended our relationship, the financial portion was worked out satisfactorily. I would still not advocate for Uptown but if you need somewhere to live in a safe neighborhood, Uptown's Ravenswood beats a cardboard box. I added a star because Greg was accommodating and forthright.

I bought a security camera for my living room due to 4 men showing up unannounced at my apartment, saying they were going to come in to "inspect" after living there for only 2 weeks. When I called the office for clarification, the property manager was unaware of this team but after a brief hold, told me it was their "executive team" and per the lease agreement, they can enter whenever they want, to do whatever they want. Well... Ohio law requires a 24 hour notice unless in cases of emergency (which there has never been one) -- so clearly they believe their company supersedes the law! That was two years ago though -- Beyond the QUARTERLY inspections (where they take a picture of the air filter and flip a light switch or two), maintenance has now entered my apartment 4 times within the last 3 months and done absolutely nothing each time. Only twice did I receive proper notice or an explanation as to why they were coming -- the only reason I know they came was because of my security camera that I turn on while at work. I have expensive electronics and jewelry in my apartment and it feels like I am being cased. Overall, their methods of property management are suspicious and make me feel extremely unsafe as a young woman living alone.

PUTTING LIPSTICK ON A PIG The only good thing about prestige…read moreis Steve the maintenance- the rent office is very nonchalant when it comes to fixing problems or even being aware of issues. To start I moved into a dirty apartment (I made them aware to which they told me to remove all my items from the floor so they could come clean TOMORROW -a weekday the day after I moved in) -dead flies throughout apartment including fridge and freezer -light fixture in kitchen was covered in a weird substance -cat litter throughout apartment I had to scrap it off the floors in certain areas including closets (previous tenant had 2 cats) Dirty hallways and staircases (dead bugs spider webs general outside debris) -they "clean" every tuesday or so. Dirty laundry area bugs & large fly sticky traps with tons of dead flies left them up for three months Showers has obviously previous water damage that was badly patched Front security door does not work so it stays open and free for anyone to enter Had to make management office aware that our building had no hot water (wasn't fixed until the next day - gave them notice @7am) Roaches have now been a problem - had a 2YRS stay first year flies and gnats second year roaches and small beetles Shower began peeling was told to not get it wet or set anything in cutout Walls are badly and unevenly painted and patched finger prints left behind in paint - also the paint supplies (made them aware never made a attempt to remove items) A lot of package theft They do not ice driveway or shovel snow from walkways They will cancel or call for maintenance appointments last minute - after 4 mos of asking to get my tub fixed they requested I leave my apt for three days / I came to the apt after work to check what was done to find nothing had been done when I reached out at that point I was told appointment was cancelled and they could reschedule

Maintenance requests would be answered in a reasonable time. The trash was never picked up on time. We'd go weeks without the dumpster being emptied. They do schedule tours of your apartment to potential tenants once you give notice that you're not renewing, so be mindful of that. They also charge for every little thing, so make sure you follow the check out list precisely.
