I cannot say enough about how excellent Clay is!!! He is the real deal. He represents what a local…read morebusiness owner is all about-- hard work & commitment to his customers. We have a large in ground pool & spa with a waterfall, & have used other companies in the past. I'm home when they come & let me tell you-- the employees the other companies sent out did 1 speck of the work that Clay does & also charged much more!! (On top of that, one company we used left dozens of heavy bags of chemicals by our pool pump to use when they come instead of having to "deal with it" at each visit. 2 companies in the past have dumped the contents of our pool filter right down onto our rocks by the pump, so it was a piled up wet leaf mess out there. Unlike those companies, Clay is DETAIL oriented, KIND & an excellent man to do the job. He even leaf-blows our pool patio area! I wish I could have someone like him do all of our home work because he cares about what he does. **This man has also helped me on multiple occasions, by rolling my trash bin from the road to its place, after the dump truck emptied it! He did it without me even knowing or asking which is the kindest gesture for this Momma with her hands always full!** You will NOT be disappointed in Clay!! :)

A complete lack of respect and accountability takes every good thing about this company and this is all I will remember. I can live with no being able to continue the service, but the lack of respect to man up and take a phone call is very telling.

AtoZ has serviced our two pools since the end of June--one saltwater and one traditional chlorine pool. Their own reports show a concerning pattern. For five consecutive weekly visits from July 2 through July 31, our saltwater pool had 0 free chlorine. Across 11 visits, pH was 8.0 or higher on 9 of them, including 8.4. Salt was also low on nearly every visit where it was tested. CYA was 0 on July 9, so stabilizer was added, and by July 16 it was back to 30. After that, their reports show no CYA testing/documentation for seven consecutive visits spanning nearly eight weeks. When CYA finally appeared again on September 10, it was back at 0. Some treatment choices also raised questions. On September 4, their report showed pH 8.0 and total alkalinity 90, yet they added 6 lbs of "Alk Up" even though 90 was already within the normal range. Eventually we began seeing significant white flakes/sediment in the pool. At first I assumed it was undissolved salt, but after it continued for weeks I contacted Rod. Rather than come out and inspect the pool and equipment, he looked at a photo and told me it was algae. By then I had started reviewing their own reports against the recommended ranges for our system and asked why we had repeatedly high pH, low or zero chlorine, low salt, and inconsistent CYA monitoring without anyone communicating an underlying issue. That is when the explanations started changing. First he said they had been investigating a problem because our pool was getting older. The pool was built in 2022. I asked why, if they suspected a problem, nobody had told us or documented it. He then suggested we might have a leak. I explained that our automatic filler had been off for about three months due to water restrictions and the water level was not dropping significantly. Again, if they believed there was enough water loss to affect salt and CYA, why was that never communicated? Instead of answering, Rod became increasingly defensive. He eventually told me I could "F* off"** if I didn't trust his 30 years of experience and called me a liar about how long the white buildup had been occurring. We later tested the white material with vinegar and it reacted and dissolved, which is consistent with calcium carbonate rather than algae. Given the repeated high pH, calcium scaling is a reasonable concern. We also had five different technicians service the pool over the last five weeks, despite Rod originally telling me he wanted one of his more experienced people handling our system because some newer technicians were less familiar with the equipment. There was also a separate incident where a technician used our garden hose while cleaning the filters, put the hose into the pool, and apparently forgot to shut it off. We came home to find the pool overflowing into the yard. When I told Rod, his response was again to question whether I was telling the truth and ask me to prove it with video. Mistakes happen. Pool chemistry can get out of balance, equipment can malfunction, and a technician can leave a hose running. None of those things alone would have caused me to write this review. What I cannot accept is a documented pattern of abnormal readings over an extended period with no clear communication about the underlying problem, followed by the owner calling a customer a liar and telling them to "F*** off" for asking questions using the company's own service reports. After that conversation, I no longer have confidence in AtoZ servicing our pools.

We are newbies to the pool world. Moved here from Chicago and wanted to have a pool, found the…read moreright house and moved into it in May. While having a pool is lovely, there is a lot of information you need to know if you want to take care of it properly. We have a weekly cleaning done by another company I won't mention the name (we are not very happy with them). Yesterday, we woke up to our vinyl pool liner floating away from the walls. We are having a stone bench and firepit installed at the back of the yard. The area where the stone bench is was a huge puddle and the heavy rain (maybe 4 inches in one night) caused the water to have no where to drain to...needless to say we were in panic mode (called our weekly cleaning company and they didn't know they were going to get back to us). UGH! Mind racing I remembered the seller left us a detailed list of vendors they used for various improvements, Ted Leonard from Blue Devil Pools was on the list. I called him in a panic told him the situation. He said he was familiar with the problem worked on pools for 25 years and as it was 3 days before Christmas I was freaking out that no one was working. He said he charged $90 an hour and likely 1-4 hour job. He headed over and arrived 40 minutes later. The guy is a wealth of pool information, very detailed information for my husband and I to know about this type of pool and how to manage it. our cost $200. I told him the Pool Co that cleans our pool said we were able to run the Polaris (vacuum) without the main pump on...what did he think? The previous owner told us that was a NO-NO. He said well I agree it should not be run alone as it does not have enough water working with it. He recommended to trust the Polaris website to reach out to them (not general pool forums). I logged into the Polaris website, got on a live chat with tech support for residential pools, they agreed "the booster bump (polaris) should NOT be run without the main pump as it will be under pressurized and cause the booster pump to overheat and potentially melt its impeller). OMG - seriously...thankful to have had a visit from Ted. Feeling empowered. Not only that, Ted had great ideas to get the water away from the pool with the work we are doing with the fire pit and bench. He went into a detailed explanation of routing the water away with catch basins and a back up of gravity fed trenching. I recommend this company and Ted 100%.

He is truly gifted with attention to detail, experience, skill, and integrity with perfect down to the millimeter precision pool liner installation. Ted also repaired vermiculite damage that occurred due to us not knowing the pool had been drained completely due to a storm causing a large branch to tear the liner after falling on our fence. Excellent work with great follow up, educational materials, and support. Probably the most honest businessman I've encountered since coming to NC. Highly recommend.
