This place fills up the plaza parking lot every morning. The goods coming out of it are spectacular. It's expanded over the years, a simple little counter with industrious bakers in the back when I was in middle school. Now, it's spread out to have... seating, but the food that was around then didn't change much. There have been additions, like cups of tiramisu, a broad selection of teas, and more cakes. It's always been a bit costly for me for pastries, but it's good to indulge here and then. The croissants here have been the mainstay, the chocolate croissants my favorite this whole time. It is not like those piecemeal little nibblets you find at Au Bon Pain... These are loaded chocolate croissants that have such dense chocolate that it is still partially in chunks when you get it. The crusts are flaky no matter the croissant, though I wish they would put in whole fruit instead of jams. I've grown to enjoy the scones. No clotted cream to be found in town, but they are every bit as good as ones I've had at Harrod's tea room. They are dense, not too sweet, no salt in the taste, and just enough fruit without it feeling like a dessert. They keep their form when you break bits off them instead of falling into a floury messy, yet, are still spongy. I fear I do not really try the cookies and cakes often. My best friend I believe fears looking into their window because seeing carrot cake with cream cheese frosting... well, the carrot cake is good, but unfortunately isn't available in 'single serving' pieces typically. It's a bit dense for me for cakes, but to each their own. The atmosphere is casual, the place kept immaculately clean. If my wallet were larger and I was less carb adverse, I'd come more often... P.S. This is one of the few places I'll actually drink coffee... because caffeine actually puts me to sleep! Giving this 5 stars based solely on their croissants - I was randomly driving by and stopped in to see what they had for savory breakfast pastries and was delighted to see so many croissant choices. I went with my preferred, ham and cheese, and while I was there figured I'd grab a chocolate one to try later. The ham and cheese one was by far the best I've ever had! It comes warm and it was so flaky and buttery and Just absolutely delicious. After I scarfed it down I figured I'd have a bite of the chocolate one just to see if it was equally as good and it did not disappoint- I ended up eating the whole thing right away bc I couldn't stop! From cakes to pies and cookies, Quebrada uses terrific top-end ingredients to make bakeshop masterpieces. A great example of their craft is the gourmet cupcakes. Perfect for a little snack, special occasion, or big event, the cupcakes come in a variety of flavors. The cake is dense but still airy and not overly fatty or greasy. The buttercream frosting is smooth and rich but not overly sweet. Compared with other cupcake boutiques in the area, it's no contest. Quebrada crushes them all. Self-control and a loving wife are the only reasons, I don't "drop by" more often for these treats! read more

The cinnamon rolls are to die for! Great fresh, but they also freeze and reheat really well. Also the pecan rolls and the blueberry or raisin scones. And don't forget the sugar cookies! And the chocolate cupcakes with buttercream frosting! The cake is so deep and moist, and the frosting is as good as it is beautiful. I live in Western Mass, and you'd think we didn't have any bakeries out here, considering the BOXES I stock up with when I visit Wellesley. Almost a destination trip! Pricey, but worth it. read more

Stopped in on a Saturday when we were in town for the weekend. Reading the reviews it sounded like this was THE place to go for some sweet treats. We asked the counter person what they liked the best and she steered us to the chocolate and almond croissants which did not disappoint. In fact we loved them so much we came back on Sunday. What a difference a day makes. We picked up some almond croissants but were also enticed by their cupcakes and whoopie pies. What a disappointment they were. The whoopie pie is filled with whipped cream not the traditional whipped frosting you find in a true whoopie pie. This would have been ok if the whipped cream didn't taste like a refrigerator. And the cake was dry and flavorless. It was completely inedible. The cupcake was disgusting!! I chose chocolate with vanilla frosting. Again the frosting tasted like a refrigerator case and the cake was dry and tasteless. We were unable to eat either of these treats past the first tasting bite. Very disappointing especially since they were not cheap! We will go back again the next time we are in town, however it will only be for the croissants. Maybe the cookies, we'll see. :) read more

First I would start by saying I LOVE this bakery. This review also does take COVID into consideration and the reason I am writing it is because this is an issue I've experienced repeatedly, even prior to COVID. I don't live close by, so making a trip here is a special event. At least three times in the last year, I've arrived by noon only to find them sold out of all egg sandwiches AND stuffed croissants. I get running out on occasion, but if you are regularly running out of multiple products and letting customers down by 12:00 pm when you are open until 6:00pm, you lose customers. As many reviewers have touched on, the food is good but their service is horrible. Has been for many years. Today was another example. I went in and was the only customer in the store. There was no staff behind the counter so helped myself to items that were on top of the display counter which I could pick for myself, and placed them by the cash register to pay. I was waiting for staff to come out to order additional items inside the display cabinet. After waiting for 30 secs, other customers started to enter the store. Staff members started to come out of the kitchen to take orders. The first girl gets her gloves on which is ideal in time of Covid, but ignores and passes over me and asks the man behind me what he wanted. Surprised by this - I mentioned that I was first in line. She continues with the mans order and tells me she will be right with me. A second staff person shows up to the counter so I figure she will help me but she said she's helping the person behind the man behind me. Frustrated by the lack of empathy and human decency, I left the items behind and exited the store. As many have mentioned and as I've experienced numerous times previously, this is nothing new for Quebrada. I grew up in town and it was the same level of service back then - 30 years ago. It's a shame but just shows how poorly trained the staff is and how bad overall management is for this location. Finally over it and will go elsewhere. read more

I tried the Cardamon bread to take home and - wow - delicious - which I tried to purchase again on my next visit and was informed that it is only baked on Fridays and always sells out. This was disappointing to me. The bread is so outstanding and I am not sure where else I can find it. My friend tried a delicious warm spinach and cheese croissant and appreciated something savory rather than sweet for her experience. The classic almond croissant tasted incredible, and a real treat, especially since I like almond flavors. The classic version has sliced almonds on top vs the other almond croissant which offers the same inside filling just missing the garnish. The coffee is self serve with amazing selections including Dancing Goats. Usually I like a French Roast and with an adventurous spirit I tried something different and to my surprise, I like Dancing Goats better, a full flavor dark roast that is is smooth. I saw healthy add in options for the coffee which I appreciated on the counter including honey and raw sugar and cinnamon. My experience brought me returning back to discover more culinary delights in the cake department. So far I tried 3 tasty cakes with different frostings - A butter Cream frosting, ganache frosting and a whipped cream frosting with fresh strawberries. My friends raved and like all three. All winners. My most recent visit was with my sister. We shared one chocolate cupcake just for a mini treat and found it to be very moist, rich, and satisfying since we were just Interested in a little taste. It was a perfect choice. read more

I'm giving them 4 stars based on my favorite things at Quebrada .. some things are 2 stars. I've been going to Quebrada for 9 years now I feel like I have had just about every product they make. I don't live locally and go out of my way to stop there when zooming down route 9 into Boston. It's pricey ... they are certainly 20% more expensive across the board on all their products. If you want a bargain you will not find it here. My favorites are: The filled warm croissants, the sticky buns, the danish style pastries and he mufffins. The banana bread is fantastic too! I'm not fond of the cupcakes because they are refrigerated and (for me) dry. I also find their cookies to be dry. The best time to go there is the first 2 hours of the day they are open. Don't even waste your time if you can't get there till after 3 pm ... they will be wiped out of all the good stuff. over all yummmmmmm I've never had an issue with the service there and I'v been at least 30 times. read more

This is a review of their catering and food truck. I always stop at the food truck at Dewey Square when it's there. The savory croissants are to die for and very addictive! My favorites are ham & cheese and mushroom & cheese. This week I had Quebrada cater an employee appreciation event. We ordered mini tarts, cookies, mini cheesecakes and a strawberry cake. All were delicious but I have to commend Quebrada's cake. It was moist and light, with real whipped cream topping and lots of strawberries. It was really rich but had a slightly bitter taste afterwards. I didn't ask what chocolate they used but did ask if it was chocolate based and it was. My wife said she did not like the cookies. I tried them and I think it was the sprinkles on top of the cookie that made them taste awful. SERVICE: The young woman who helped me was very friendly. RECOMMEND: I would based on the fact that I would come back to try a hot tea or other recommendations from regulars. Note- parking is limited on the surface street and side streets. A clean, spacious atmosphere housed a large selection of visually appealing baked goods. At the far left end of the counter were warm, savory pastries while the remaining display included cupcakes, cakes, pastries, and muffins. We ordered almond croissants, a chocolate cupcake, a blueberry muffin, and a banana nut muffin. I must say I was impressed with the almond croissant (we ended up going back in the store to buy one more). The distribution of almond paste was probably the best I ever had... most croissants end up being all flake pastry with just almond paste in the middle. The cupcake was a little too heavy for my taste... perhaps too buttery or oily. The blueberry muffin, though not too sweet, had too much of a "thick" consistency, like it was on the way to becoming a scone. Additionally, I found the cost to be overpriced but I am not too familiar with the area so I cannot say for sure. A little background about me: I enjoy my sweets. Like, REALLY enjoy sweets. But, I'm also the type who would prefer one splendid cupcake over a dozen mediocre cupcakes. So, when my carnal instinct for something sweet starts calling, Quebrada is one of my bakeries of choice. I love all types of sweets, but from Quebrada I especially like the chocolate with vanilla frosting, carrot, and mocha cupcakes. Although I'm I self proclaimed chocolate fanatic, I oddly don't like their chocolate frosting, it's a little too robust for me. But that's okay, plenty of other great cupcakes to choose from! I've gotten a few Birthday cakes from here before, but recently my family ordered a half sheet strawberry cake for a surprise party. The cake was well decorated, tasted amazing, and received numerous compliments. As a side note, when ordering the cake we informed the bakery that someone in my family has a severe nut allergy. They guaranteed us that no nuts would come in contact with the cake, which is comforting since we've been to other bakeries that haven't been able to assure us of that. Also as another side note, if you go to the website and look under cakes there will be one that says "Happy Birthday Katie" on it. Yep, that's mine. It's kinda like I'm famous, right!? Overall, this place is great and it's worth a try. The parking can be a zoo, so I usually park on the street and walk the 30 seconds it takes to get there. While their pastries are good, it's a really hit or miss experience. The support staff are often flustered and seem like amateurs, which makes it hard to buy in to the bakery or feel good about going there. That said, the pastries, when they are freshly made, are quite nice. The main issue is that the bakery has not evolved with the times, and have refused to integrate gluten free options into their baked goods which is a shame. They also do not have oat milk and struggle to make drinks with even skim or almond milk. This bakery could be an A+ hit, but they need a serious tune up. read more

The leaders who run this place are rude and arrogant. I find it annoying to pay high prices for an empty cup that I have to fill, while contending with other annoyed coffee addicts in the am. They need to learn how to treat people. The baked goods are not that great, it's just that in a forced calorie starved society like Wellesley, anything with sugar tastes great. I'd rather buy a frozen roll of cookie dough from pilsbury or Mrs smith's pie. I went in there a few days ago and have noticed several not so good changes. The banana bread/pumpkin bread mini loaves they sell at the counter have gone up in price from 5 or 6 dollars to 8! Who wants to pay that for a 10 bite coffee cake and they have gotten smaller! The people at the counter are not the friendliest and always seem rushed! They now play loud music which I always hate. It used to be nice and quiet and I enjoyed that especially in the morning! 6 dollars for a mini 2 bite cupcake? No thank you! Their croissants are awful and not buttery or flakey at all! Also have you seen their bakers or whoever with long hair and long beards? Ugh! They should have standards about that especially if they are touching food! Some of them look very creepy!! Their coffee is yuck! They used to have a nice manager here who let you have a refill if you stayed there and then later on they charged you like 25 cents for one but now nope you need to pay full price for one! Super duper chocolate croissants, with chunky dark chocolate chunks melting all over and oozing out the sides. I also appreciate the "mini croissants," which let you eat and appreciate a few different flavors on one visit without feeling like you just ate a tub of butter.
