Awesome hidden gem in Slidell. Was just shopping and found this place. The decoration in the interior is great and so is the food. The cuban sandwich and beans I had were great.

Every time I have gone to Que Rico the food is great, my favorite dish is the Vegan Cuban. The servers are friendly and accommodating. They actually remember my order. The way the restaurant is decorated you feel like you've stepped into a cafe in Cuba.

We had a great time. The flight of Mojito were so good. The place was very busy and fun. Im not familiar with cuban food but it was so good. I wish the service was a little quicker but they had a huge wedding party and the place was very busy.

I was visiting friends and family in Louisiana and one of our friends recommended this place. Funny story this place used to be my old place of employment years ago when it was Mi Patio. Walking in, very different, felt like they are still kinda renovating the place towards the back by the restrooms. I found it off that half of the dining space was empty, but I believe it's used as a dance floor at night. The staff is very friendly and colorfully dressed. Service overall was ok, they definitely were busy and the two guys were running around trying to get everything done. Our waiter was very nice, we ordered appetizers, coffee and food. But the order everything came out was off. My kids got their kids meals and we got half our appetizers first which I wasn't upset about. Our coffees came out then there was a big gap and we got our entrees before the rest of our appetizers came out. The waiter later told us they accidentally sent ours to another table. No biggie. Portions here are perfect, price point is really good and the presentation is decent. Flavors are very delicious. And the coffee is solid. I got the cortadito and a tres leches iced coffee. The kids meals were hefty but my kiddos didn't care for the bread they used. It wasn't normal sandwich bread and there wasn't enough cheese. We ordered the Havana sampler and a cheese and corn dip. The dip was amazing and the chips served with it were delicious. The sampler was pretty good, definitely found two things I didn't care for. My SIL got the Cuban sandwich and she said it was okay. I got the lechon pork platter and the pork chunk platter. The sauce on the pork chunk platter was amazing I added it to my lechon pork platter. The lechon pork was perfectly cooked and delicious. I wasn't a fan of the pork chunks, too dry for me. The tamal was delicious. Realized I really love lechon pork. We also ordered the flan and the coconut flan. They were both good in their own ways, however the texture of the coconut flan was what we preferred, but the taste of the regular. All in all we enjoyed our food, if you go during rush hour don't be in a rush. Glad Slidell has better restaurants.

First off, LOVED our server....the food wasn't the best. but the cafe con leche WAS!!! Rice tasted live bad rice a roni.

I was looking for a lunch spot on a Saturday and decided to try Que Rico. We were quickly seated and the server was very attentive. I ordered the Lechon Asado (add a fried egg) and it tasted okay. The other guest had the Palomilla Cuban Steak. The steak was a bit overcooked unfortunately. The serving sizes were pretty large and I had enough to eat later. We shared an order of the Garlic Buttered Cuban Bread. It was a large portion also but didn't really taste that great. My Mojito Mocktail had bad mint leaves in it so that was disappointing. If I'm ever in the area, I'd probably pick up the Lechon Asado to go. I just wouldn't go out of the way to eat there.

Que Rico Cuban Cafe has been serving the Slidell area for many years! Historically they were located by a coin-operated laundry in Old Downtown. I ate there many times over the years, so I was glad to see they had reopened west of town. They are in a strip mall with lots of parking. The interior space is open and has plenty of seating. The wait staff is prompt and attentive. It's a great place to enjoy Cuban Cuisine! What is good about Cuban Cuisine? Lots of things! One aspect of Cuban food that is great to try are the plantains! These banana-like fruit are both starchy and sweet depending on their state of ripeness. The riper they are the sweeter they are. These are served both ways in the Havana Sampler, along with some yucca frites and ham croquets. This is a great appetizer to try! Moving on to entrees, there are chicken, beef, and stews that are all excellent. These tend to be cooked down to an extremely tender state. Sides often include rice and beans. Cuban Cuisine relies on black beans as their primary legume. These are spicy and great, but not too spicy. Another great Cuban food to try is their sandwiches! One of these that's popular is the Midnight Sandwich. This is reportedly popular for late night meals in Cuba, but is enjoyable at any time! Another great pork-based sandwich is the Cubano! Cuban sandwiches tend to be pressed, and made with great bread that is crispy on the outside but rich and chewy on the inside. Some other Cuban things to try are Cuban coffee and dessert. For the latter, don't miss the Flan which is a great caramel-covered custard.

This is one of my favorite stops in Slidell. I get the fried pork chops... phew. Fire. Their plantains are out of this world and their black beans?! Would be hard to replicate. Super authentic, great vibes, great service. Must stop in if you're passing through.

I've had breakfast, lunch and supper. Today was lunch! After very very early flights into NOLA we needed something to eat. We arrived right after breakfast was up. It ends at 10:30. We got there at 10:35. Oh well. We both order the chicken salad on the sourdough bread. The sandwich was HUGE! We could've split it for sure. We each took half home. The chicken salad is tasty. The only thing the bread falls apart making it hard to eat. But the amount of chicken salad is really good. The sandwich came with chips which is pretty standard. The counters, floors and dining room was clean. Which is important to me. The food was ready in 15 +/- minutes. They was only 4 other people in there besides us so I wasn't expecting it to take long. All in all it was good just as I expected. The only negative was the front counter person was not friendly at all. Just looked at us when we walked in. No smile, no welcome, nothing, which is unusual for Panera. Maybe she was having a bad day. Maybe she doesn't get paid enough. Maybe she just didn't want to be there. It happens. Food was good, inside was clean, parking lot was adequate and bathroom was okay! I would definitely recommend! Cheers

Now this is where the low stars come in. Front of house worker taking orders was so rude. She had an AirPod in and kept making not only us but other people repeat themselves and said "I can't hear you". Of course you can't sister - you have a freakin AirPod in. I'm not a Karen and normally wouldn't give a rat but she was rude and obviously trying to make her lack of effort everyone else's issue. You can't hear the way you need to because you have an AirPod in, not because people aren't speaking up. She was rude when we placed our order and then didn't ask if we'd like chips or drinks before she told us our total. Ended up just ordering drinks separately at the self service kiosk because we didn't feel like dealing with her nasty attitude again, which she was giving out to everyone for free. All the other employees we encountered were very nice. Tables were for the most part clean but most still had some crumbs - again not a huge deal, rushes happen and something's get over looked. Everything was actually really clean though, even the bathrooms.

I think I'll review again as I've probably had since the last time seven or eight meals here nothing has changed still holding it four stars. one thing though it's very aggravating with only this ta and no others they're not carrying Heinz 57 sauce anymore by choice because the locals just don't get it no one seems to get it..I mean it is Louisiana and do know they like their hot sauce but other T/A Petros in Louisiana have no problem with it.. that we're not going to hold him to it because the food was fantastic I had a double meal here as usual came in had myself the prior night my usual because this is the only place you're going to get it they're wonderfully delicious famous sausage and chicken gumbo WhoDat!! and a nice salad way I like it with the lettuce and the tomato and cucumber what I like about here that use a nice good fresh celery slices cuz why you can taste that bite it is so yummy. however this is one of those ta-petro owned ones that lost their bacon bits and now have the little jar of shakin bits.. but it's okay the salad is nice and fresh usually nine times out 10. for dinner I decide to have chicken fried chicken...huh? you mean chicken fried steak? now LOL I mean chicken fried chicken.. what is chicken fried chicken will think of chicken fried steak is your cubed beef patty flattened out breaded dusted coated and fried; now gang think of a nice grilled chicken breast done the same way after the chicken breast is cooked it's coated a little bit and breaded and stuck in the fryer and oh is it yummy and.."VÌOLA" chicken fried chicken. same way as a chicken fried steak 30 get this mashed taters and you put the old country gravy on both and Grub down.. add to diet Pepsi. so dinner was good.. I was tired brushed my teeth went out to truck I went to sleep. next morning dinner was great decided let's have breakfast again haven't had breakfast at this one in a while so I decided to go on in there and I got myself to French toast and egg combo. lightly dusted with powdered sugar not heavily and the Smuckers sugar-free syrup. and what's become a huge favor for me at TA and petro and many other places the turkey sausage yes it looks just like a pork sausage patty only when you pick it up there's no grease on the plate or underneath but what is not lost is the flavor..many people I noticed once they try it and they're adventurous enough to think "whatever I don't know if I'm going to like this healthy crap, but here we go down the gullet" the response is usually quite pleasant hey the stuff is pretty good and it's healthy.. I always keep it at the house now Jimmy Dean turkey sausage patties for breakfast sometimes in the freezer... so for the most part a good for stars across the board still I'm not dropping it I'm not adding it get back the Heinz 57 please I like it on my hamburger steak and I like it on my grilled chicken the baked potatoes. all in all though this Country Pride is still a good one one of the older 76 Orange Ball truck stops..and I have no problem I'll keep stopping here it's convenient to New Orleans beats all the traffic and good deal.
