Every time I have gone to Que Rico the food is great, my favorite dish is the Vegan Cuban. The servers are friendly and accommodating. They actually remember my order. The way the restaurant is decorated you feel like you've stepped into a cafe in Cuba.

Awesome hidden gem in Slidell. Was just shopping and found this place. The decoration in the interior is great and so is the food. The cuban sandwich and beans I had were great.

We had a great time. The flight of Mojito were so good. The place was very busy and fun. Im not familiar with cuban food but it was so good. I wish the service was a little quicker but they had a huge wedding party and the place was very busy.

I was visiting friends and family in Louisiana and one of our friends recommended this place. Funny story this place used to be my old place of employment years ago when it was Mi Patio. Walking in, very different, felt like they are still kinda renovating the place towards the back by the restrooms. I found it off that half of the dining space was empty, but I believe it's used as a dance floor at night. The staff is very friendly and colorfully dressed. Service overall was ok, they definitely were busy and the two guys were running around trying to get everything done. Our waiter was very nice, we ordered appetizers, coffee and food. But the order everything came out was off. My kids got their kids meals and we got half our appetizers first which I wasn't upset about. Our coffees came out then there was a big gap and we got our entrees before the rest of our appetizers came out. The waiter later told us they accidentally sent ours to another table. No biggie. Portions here are perfect, price point is really good and the presentation is decent. Flavors are very delicious. And the coffee is solid. I got the cortadito and a tres leches iced coffee. The kids meals were hefty but my kiddos didn't care for the bread they used. It wasn't normal sandwich bread and there wasn't enough cheese. We ordered the Havana sampler and a cheese and corn dip. The dip was amazing and the chips served with it were delicious. The sampler was pretty good, definitely found two things I didn't care for. My SIL got the Cuban sandwich and she said it was okay. I got the lechon pork platter and the pork chunk platter. The sauce on the pork chunk platter was amazing I added it to my lechon pork platter. The lechon pork was perfectly cooked and delicious. I wasn't a fan of the pork chunks, too dry for me. The tamal was delicious. Realized I really love lechon pork. We also ordered the flan and the coconut flan. They were both good in their own ways, however the texture of the coconut flan was what we preferred, but the taste of the regular. All in all we enjoyed our food, if you go during rush hour don't be in a rush. Glad Slidell has better restaurants.

I was looking for a lunch spot on a Saturday and decided to try Que Rico. We were quickly seated and the server was very attentive. I ordered the Lechon Asado (add a fried egg) and it tasted okay. The other guest had the Palomilla Cuban Steak. The steak was a bit overcooked unfortunately. The serving sizes were pretty large and I had enough to eat later. We shared an order of the Garlic Buttered Cuban Bread. It was a large portion also but didn't really taste that great. My Mojito Mocktail had bad mint leaves in it so that was disappointing. If I'm ever in the area, I'd probably pick up the Lechon Asado to go. I just wouldn't go out of the way to eat there.

Que Rico Cuban Cafe has been serving the Slidell area for many years! Historically they were located by a coin-operated laundry in Old Downtown. I ate there many times over the years, so I was glad to see they had reopened west of town. They are in a strip mall with lots of parking. The interior space is open and has plenty of seating. The wait staff is prompt and attentive. It's a great place to enjoy Cuban Cuisine! What is good about Cuban Cuisine? Lots of things! One aspect of Cuban food that is great to try are the plantains! These banana-like fruit are both starchy and sweet depending on their state of ripeness. The riper they are the sweeter they are. These are served both ways in the Havana Sampler, along with some yucca frites and ham croquets. This is a great appetizer to try! Moving on to entrees, there are chicken, beef, and stews that are all excellent. These tend to be cooked down to an extremely tender state. Sides often include rice and beans. Cuban Cuisine relies on black beans as their primary legume. These are spicy and great, but not too spicy. Another great Cuban food to try is their sandwiches! One of these that's popular is the Midnight Sandwich. This is reportedly popular for late night meals in Cuba, but is enjoyable at any time! Another great pork-based sandwich is the Cubano! Cuban sandwiches tend to be pressed, and made with great bread that is crispy on the outside but rich and chewy on the inside. Some other Cuban things to try are Cuban coffee and dessert. For the latter, don't miss the Flan which is a great caramel-covered custard.

This is one of my favorite stops in Slidell. I get the fried pork chops... phew. Fire. Their plantains are out of this world and their black beans?! Would be hard to replicate. Super authentic, great vibes, great service. Must stop in if you're passing through.

And in that moment I was reminded why I rarely ask for recommendations because my taste runs a little too refined for most. Nevertheless I turned to Maps and typed in "coffee," and the first option was an immediate no. But the second one, the name alone, told me everything I needed to know. The only problem, it was the opposite direction I was headed and I was already running late. But I couldn't ignore that instinct. I had to see for myself. "Sorry boss, can't come in today. I was on my way to work and then a gentle fall breeze blew me in the direction of my destiny and reminded me it is a serious thing just to be alive on this fresh morning in this broken world!" Anywho, I'm so happy I stopped. The moment I walked in it felt like home, not in the corny sitcom way, but in that deeper unexpected kind of way. Like walking into a crowded room full of strangers and then seeing your homegirl that instantly makes you feel like yourself again and suddenly the day is yours. Mind you I hadn't even ordered at this point, but that's how good just walking inside made me feel. i felt like a mom that has been saying "you not getting that" all year then christmas day be grinning when baby open that present they been wanting!! Then there's the coffee, I'm still sipping my Beehive Latte now and it's fabulous. And I don't say fabulous often. I was going to go with a vanilla latte but since I sort of felt like I was in Adam and Eve's garden I wanted to try something new. The owner recommended the Crème Brûlée Latte but his wife overheard me going back and forth in my head (out loud) and suggested the Beehive since I like my coffee sweet but not overwhelming. This latte is perfect, pure perfection. I grabbed a chocolate croissant too because they looked delicious and they absolutely delivered. Flaky, golden and brown and no I'm not describing myself. The pastries all looked heavenly. Everything was perfect. Sure, I'm having an exceptionally good day already, maybe because of the weather, maybe because it's Friday, or maybe because I'm an attractive single 6'3 male and ready for eligible suitors. Either way, the service, their smiles, the coffee, the plants, everything was otherworldly. I'd go out of my way to come back. Wanna come with?

The vibes are clean and casual, with a hint of locals and cozy. A very nice to space to catch up or to get some work done (although I didn't notice too many outlets to charge). The menu was simple but they also had some seasonal specials. The coffee and espresso weren't dark roast, so it didn't carry that bitterness which I liked. Honestly, it sounds like you can't go wrong with any of the menu options that they offer. I also picked up a breakfast sandwich, which could of be heated a little better. The center of it was still a bit cold, but way better than frozen. It did look like they prepare their breakfast sandwiches in house and then freeze - so kudos to that! They also sell some trinkets and other goods that you can pick up as gifts! If I'm ever in town again, definitely a stop for me. Every city can use a great local coffee shop and Sirincci is it for Slidell!

You know how it goes... you live somewhere and keep meaning to try a place and suddenly it's like 8 years later and here we are. Exquisite everything... atmosphere, service, cocktails and food. Aperitivo-style dinners (aka girl dinners?) are my favorite. I love a good grazing. We had the seasoned chickpeas which are fried and crunchy but not dry like baked or dried chickpeas. These are the irresistible kind, the melt-in-your-mouth with salty umami goodness kind. The saltines that come with the black bean hummus are seasoned in the same way, fried, I suspect, but I'm not mad about that. I really couldn't stop eating these and don't get me started on the perfect fries. Drinks, ah the drinks. As much as I wanted one of those frozens, with dropping temps outside, I went for a gorgeous Flor de Jamaica. Think citrus-forward, not heavily boozy (vodka). I followed up with the Mary Pickford, which has pineapple juice and normally I would fear for an overly sweet drink but this is not that. It's more on the tangy/sour side of the spectrum. Both drinks are perfectly light and refreshing. It all felt like the indulgence I needed after a frigid week. After dining upstairs, which makes you feel like you're in a chic loft space, we peeked into the courtyard. The wife and I came in for something different, and it was great!…read more I don't know about you all, but when I am in the French Quarter I don't immediately think Cuban. Spanish? Yep. French? Absolutely! American? Of course, but not Cuban. So we were in the mood for something different, maybe a different vibe and we got it. First off the place is pretty unassuming from the outside. An old sign hanging above the side walk and a smallish door on a quiet street hiding the goodness inside. You could easily walk right past it. The place specializes in cocktails with a Cuban Caribbean flair. I don't know anything about daiquiris but they had a huge selection of them and I ordered a Jazz daiquiri. It was fabulous. It reminded me very much of a frozen margarita. Lots a lime, sweet and tasty. They do grind some coffee beans in it and that is a special touch. For food we went for the cheese arepa and ham and cheese croquetas. Both were fantastic. The cheese arepa reminded me of a buttery grilled cheese so decadent and the croquetas had super crunchy exterior filled with, you guessed it, melted cheese and ham. It reminded of arancini for some reason, although my wife disagrees. Either way they were both delicioso. Next we ordered the arroz con pollo. This is a dish we have had all over the Caribbean and we loved this take on a classic. They bake the chicken here so it was a drier dish than we have had elsewhere, but the chicken had great flavor and was super juicy, but with very dark baked skin. So good. My wife really liked were the crispy chickpeas she ordered! To be honest at first I wasn't sure about them. There is a flavor that I was not familiar with so I was kinda like ok, but then we took them home, you get a lot, and we had them the next day and I was addicted. I don't know if it's because something magical happened over night where the flavor came together, or more likely my palate adjusted. Either way this prolly now our go to snack to munch on while watching tv. At home I was eating them with my hands like popcorn and was disappointed when we ran out. We sat outside in the courtyard, and it was a touch chilly so we had them turn on the heater and it was fine. The server was super nice and we kind of felt bad because we were the only folks outside so she had to cover a lot of ground to check on us. This is definitely a go to place us we think. Quiet, comfortable, and tasty!
