Our of the blue - found on Yelp. The place is spotless, everything looks super fresh, staff very helpful, it's a build your own kinda vibe and as it was my first time... To tell you how much I loved it, one of the proteins was a bit cold which would knock it down a bit but I'll blame myself for being slow to the plate :) I'm not in this area very much - if there was one of these by me I'd be there once a week no doubt. If you want very high quality, and quick, this is your place. read more

Que Onda Tacobar - Carnitas, birria and pollo toastadas - Mexican Near Me - Vallejo, California

I ordered a burrito and thought it was pretty good overall. The meat was flavorful and the portion size was generous. That said, I found the price a little high. Tthe typical price for a pickup DoorDash order is around $17-18 which feels expensive for a burrito. One downside was that no sauce was included with my order so I ended up having to use hot sauce I had at home. Overall, it was a good burrito, but the price and lack of sauce were a couple of drawbacks read more

May 18, 2026 3PM ish 3.2 stars We walked in, I asked my wife to order me the $20 chilli relleno plus taco meal, and I headed for the Men's restroom. There are no toilet seat liners in the only stall and the toilet is not flushed. I flush it while cursing the last stall occupant. I finish my Men's room business , I flush and there is not enough water to whoosh everything down the commode. I apologize to God for me cursing the last stall occupant. The toilet tank takes fourever- no tenever to refill. We get our meals. The chili relleno was as good tasting as I have ever had. Served hot the way I like it. The refried beens are refried beans-good. They could have been served hotter. Unfortunately, the chopped steak taco was so salty and over spiced that I couldn't eat it. What a waste. It looked so good. We were given about nine tortilla chips haphazardly scattered on the serving tray. To share I guess. Oh No My wife starts complaining that her ground beef enchilada is so salty that any other ingredient flavors are drowned out. About my wife. Now this woman is the salt of the earth. She is infamous for over salting because she loves it.. She really loves salt. She adds salt and splashes soy (salt) sauce on almost every meal. She would vacation in a salt mine if she could. "Damn" I'm thinking. "That enchilada must be salty." But wait. There's more. Next she complains that the enchiladas tortilla wrapper is way too thick. Hard to cut with the plasticware. I try to calm her by saying "Maybe it is home made and other customers like it thick." I'm growing curious now Why does she have a can of Coke and a straw but no cup of ice. She always has a cup of ice for her can of Coke. I tighten my lips rather than getting off my lazy arse to get ice for her. Somehow she read my mind and she blurted -"They charge $.50 cents for ice here." Smh. Everyone these days has a problem with ice. read more

I'm not from the area, but we were invited to eat here. At first glance, it looks like a chipotle. However, they have all the menu items a taqueria would have, in addition to a build-your-own station. I was pleasantly surprised by the portion sizes. A lot of these items are definitely shareable because of their large portion sizes. The food is yummy, fresh and satisfying. I love that they have plenty of tables inside and outside. I also appreciate a restaurant that lets you help yourself to utensils, napkins, water, etc. I was pleased with my meal and had plenty of leftovers to enjoy at home. read more

Always tastes fresh and staff is always nice. Also super flavorful. It is "Cafeteria" style and they do well on portions

While on a road trip we decided to stop by for some food. It was our first time here so we asked how we ordered because there was a lot going on with the menu. The employee just said "that's the entrees and you choose the meat." She didn't really explain it very well but we figured it out. I got a bowl with carne asada and my gf got the chicken enchiladas. The food was amazing and I love that you can choose so many toppings. The agua frescas are also delicious and refreshing. Not sure if we were ever be back but if they open on in San Diego we definetly will go. read more

What a great place! Came upon it by chance. Homemade tortillas! I had the Quesabirria which were delicious! The other things look great as well. Everything was made fresh to order! Make sure you go to Suite 1005 because the Navi directions will take you to the derelict former Chevys in the complex. read more

Went to try something different and I got my food to go. I got the tortilla soup and the papa loca for my dad. The papa loca (I don't have a photo) were with steak. They had no beans, but had rice, both types of cheeses, and other items. My dad enjoyed his meal. I got the Tortilla soup which came in a 32oz container, which was a great size, I was able to eat it for dinner and lunch the next day. I put my soup in another container when I got home. What I enjoyed that all the toppings were in another container and not in the soup, which was awesome. Also we received a bag of chips, which I also added to my soup later for extra crunch. The place was clean when I went in but I didn't really stay long. The staff were so nice and accommodating and even kept up a conversation with me. I will be going back for that tortilla soup, especially in this cold weather. read more

Service is welcoming with a fast turnaround. When indecisive just say, "With everything". Nachos were tasty and generous in size that could easily feed a people of two. A fan of the Quessabirria Taco with Consommé as well. Excellent food without the excess of a full dining experience. read more

This place is amazing! I came to Vallejo for a small errand and their food is great! BYO bar with speciality items available. We got flautas and a BYO chicken bowl. Pictures below! I love the freshness and the authenticity of the food. Only cost us $44 with both and two large Agua Frescas. It's not watered down or like that Sol company we see at main chain Mexican restaurants. They are so authentic they don't even give tickets for the food the chefs know what they be doing. Ask for Raul or Adrian cause they are the kindest people. They answered all of our questions and even gave recommendations. I had to ask for Togo boxes because we were so full! And the vibe! Loved hearing the cultural music and seeing different tv shows available. Yall did your big one! read more

Wow. It's been a long time since I've been brave enough to walk into a taqueria without having a recommendation first. I will be back! Great service, and I was really happy when I saw the corn tortillas being pressed and heated right in front of me. I will never be able to eat packaged tortillas again. I ordered two street tacos, one asada and one al pastor and they were stuffed beyond stuffed. SO tasty! I love spicy salsa, so I got the habanero in addition to the regular mild red sauce provided with the chips. That habanero salsa is the bomb. High on the list of favorites. And this whole platter only cost me $10 read more

I was in the area and this spot happened to be nearby so here I am. I ordered the Quesabirria tacos. Lemme tell yall, the portions are huge. The food tasted good, however it didn't have the cheesiness that I'm used to having when I order Quesabirria from other places. Regardless, it was still solid just different. This spot kind of reminds me of a chipotle in which you can pick what you want on your food, but an authentic version. The restaurant itself has a lot of seating and there is a lot of parking available. Anyways, try it out if you like. :) read more

Our 19th hole was here yesterday. We followed the GPS navigation which got us to the plaza but not exact location. After driving slowly throughout the plaza we spotted the signage. It's located next to Cold Stone. Pros: * yesterday was Taco Tuesday. Three street tacos for $10. The soft taco shell is freshly made. Choice of meat. * hubby & I both had the taco salad. The taco shell was fresh. Choice of meat & beans. Generous portions. Guacamole, sour cream, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese. * long table with high stools. Sat 10 of us although we were party of 12 golfers. The remaining two sat at an adjacent table. * flavored ice cold water. Slices of fruit in the dispenser. * cartons for leftovers. Cons: * not really but we needed two more stools. Bookmarked for future visits. read more

Love the food! Nice people working there, great food, lots of selections, and good price, especially the tacos.

ok. i'll admit to it. I do miss Rubios. This place is not the Que Ona chain taco bar. This is a family run business. i was a litle hesitant at first but I saw they serve menudo on Saturdays and. Sundays. I had a burrito. This is the first burrito I could not finish in a while from a place in the V. The jefe (boss) had a a quesadilla and she could noy finish it either. If you are looking for a fat burrito on the east side that's a casual spot. This is the place to go to. I gotta go back soon to try out the Menudo. read more

Quessa birria - the beef is a bit dry and I feel like I have had better. Portion is huge but I wasn't impressed by the taste. Pork belly - good flavor but a little dry and chewy. I liked it better than the birria. Chicken tortilla soup - same thing the chicken meat is dry. But soup is very good. Decent chips and salsa. Amazing pickled vegetables. Very good price and very generous portion. Service is great and it's nice and clean inside. read more

My family of 4 moved to Vallejo 18 mons ago and we've been searching for a good Mexican restaurant ever since. We discovered Que Onda! Tacobar, a fast-casual restaurant, in the Gateway Plaza shopping center on Apr 8 and my whole family loved the place. We tried the soft tacos, enchiladas, Cal burrito and taco salad and all were delicious. Orders are plated right in front of you at the bar and toppings/sides are added to-order in assembly-line style (like at a Subway). At the end, Modelo on tap is available, along with soft drinks. Seating in the bright and colorful dining room is self-serve. Counter service was fast and friendly and prices were moderate, in line with most fast-casual establishments. My whole family agreed we've finally found our go-to place for fast and delicious Mexican cuisine in Vallejo! read more

The staff was incredibly friendly, and the burrito was the largest I've ever seen! I visited after reading great Yelp reviews, and the menu had a wide variety of options. I chose the chicken burrito, which was like a whole meal wrapped in a tortilla. It was so good that I highly recommend stopping by for tacos or burritos. Went back and tried the tacos...even better than the burrito. I had carne asada and carnitas both were seafood Ed and tender. This is my new favorite taco//burrito spot. There no pre planned order you choose whatever you would like to add to your selection and that is how the price is determined. The only thing extra is guacamole and it's worth it. read more

Great food here! Hubby and I have eaten here several times, and we've enjoyed the food every time. Faves of ours is the quesabirria, burritos, equite, horchata, and taco salad (although I think that's a special.) There's always a good amount of customers, but it has never been so crowded that we've waiting in line for a long time. The concept is kind of like Chipotle but with more authentic Mexican food. You order at the counter and let them know what kind of meat and condiments you want in your order. Love the pickled onions! Everything I've tried was good. Ambiance is casual and not too loud. The restaurant is clean. They provide self-serve lemon water although I always get the horchata. Definitely check this place out. Support small businesses and eat in Vallejo! read more

Nice surprise trying Que Onda Tacobar for our 19th hole. 12 of us and we were able to sit on the long table. Group ordered the Tuesday Taco 3 tacos for $10, Taco Salads, Burritos, and Enchilada. I personally had the Taco Salad which was full of ingredients... you just say yes or no to their choices and it turned out absolutely filling and the shell was fresh! We were here on a Tuesday night, so it was a slow night. We ordered nachos because we can add whatever toppings we want. I like the customization as we are not fans of beans, but like guacamole, cheese, fresh onions, etc. (see pic). Staff was patient, and we got our orders right. I know that there will be a language barrier, so I just had to be direct and point to what I want. The nachos taste freshly made and crisp. The other item is quesadila with shrimp. It has a lot of cheese and well cooked shrimp inside. It was wonderful. This is my 1st review, but I have eaten here multiple times. I am biased towards their nachos because I think it's great with the customization. The taste feels fresher than Chipotle and friendlier staff. The place is always clean. What a surprise on Taco Tuesday! Ever since Rubio's left, I've never been interested in trying this place, thinking it was just another franchise restaurant. Wrong! It is a small "family owned" restaurant serving delicious home-style cooking. Their Taco Tuesday consists of 3 tacos (your choice of protein, except lengua & seafood proteins, which were additional). Everything was prepared fresh, including their hand-made tortillas. And OMG, the esquites, which is basically elote corn off the cob, and is soooo good! The staff is very friendly & gave the vibe of a very hard-working family that wants to please their customers. Looking forward to trying the rest of their menu. read more

Trying a new place and wish I hadn't. I order a burria taco with mango salsa. I also ordered a burria burrito. The taco came swimming in salsa. The corn tortilla was completely wet and soggy... for $4.95. I didn't even eat it. The burrito was also sooo runny it was hard to eat. Juice dripped out of the burrito as I ate it. I wrapped it up in foil and put in frig. Then the salsa/runny bean mixture leaked out in my frig. You should be able to put pico on a taco and burrito without drowning it. This food was awful and a hard pass. read more
