I ordered the Birria Tacos and the Torta Ahogada Mi Jalisco, and I'm not exaggerating when I say this was some of the BEST Mexican food I've probably ever eaten. And I've eaten a LOT of Mexican food. The birria tacos were so damn good I briefly considered hiding under the table so nobody could see me ordering another round. The flavor was on point, the meat was fantastic, and everything just WORKED. Then came the Torta Ahogada Mi Jalisco... HOLY. TACO. TRUCK. That thing showed up looking innocent and left me questioning every life decision that had previously led me to eat anything else. THIS is what I mean when I say authentic Mexican food. No nonsense. No boring, flavorless food that makes you stare at your plate wondering where the personality went. This food showed up with its boots on and went straight to work. And judging by the crowd, I'm definitely not the only one who figured this place out. This place was PACKED at lunch today! That's usually a pretty good sign that the locals know something the rest of us are still trying to figure out. The restaurant was clean, tidy, busy, and full of good energy, and the service was absolutely AMAZING. Everyone was friendly, polite, and working their butts off. I also had my service dog, an American Pit Bull Terrier (APBT), with me. They politely asked if he was a service dog, I answered, and that was literally the end of it. No drama. No interrogation. No circus. Just respectful people treating us like human beings. I've been coming here for years, usually on Thursdays after school because my son likes to order plain chicken with fries. We order ahead because we're on a tight schedule -- I'm a busy, involved parent getting him to the gym after school. A few weeks back, despite ordering plain chicken, his plate came out with pico de gallo. He won't eat it that way. I didn't have time to drive back, so I let it go. The following week, we ordered in person and the waitress assured me she double-checked the order. My son's meal came out correctly -- but my plate was made plain instead of how I ordered it. Not a big deal. I can eat it. I called simply to let them know there was a mix-up -- not demanding anything, not asking for free food. What I wasn't prepared for was being called a liar. I was told the order was made correctly and that if I wanted it fixed I had to bring everything back immediately -- including the salsas. I explained we were on a time schedule for my son's gym session. Instead of understanding, I was told my "games won't fly" there and that I was being a "Karen" looking for free food. My son was hungry and upset during the call. She heard him. We drove back anyway. I placed the plate on the counter, and once she saw it, the mistake was obvious. Only then did she offer to remake it. At that point it wasn't about the food -- it was about being accused of lying and being publicly disrespected in front of my child. Weeks later, I noticed the order was never refunded. I had to dispute the charge with American Express to get my money back. I've supported this restaurant for years. This wasn't about a wrong plate -- mistakes happen. It was about how we were treated when trying to resolve it. I can't return after being called dishonest and a beggar over a simple order issue. El plato de mi hijo salió correcto... pero el mío salió mal. No era el fin del mundo. Yo me lo podía comer. Llamé solo para avisar que había un error, no para pedir comida gratis. No estaba preparado para que me llamaran mentiroso. Me dijeron que la orden estaba correcta y que si quería que la arreglaran tenía que regresar de inmediato con todo, hasta las salsas. Expliqué que teníamos que ir al gimnasio. La respuesta fue que mis "juegos no funcionaban ahí" y que estaba siendo un "Karen" buscando comida gratis. Mi hijo estaba llorando de hambre mientras escuchaba todo. Aun así regresamos. Puse el plato sobre el mostrador. Cuando lo vieron, quedó claro que el error era real. En ese momento ofrecieron rehacerlo. Ya no importaba. No era la comida. Era el respeto. Semanas después noté que nunca hicieron el reembolso. Ok so this is my first time trying this place and I'm disappointed. I was excited about the enchilada but it tasted more like tomato sauce instead of enchilada sauce. I had takeout last week and tried some new things. The kids quesadilla with rice and beans was a pretty good deal but it was just a flour tortilla folded over with cheese. Not big, not amazing, but not bad for a plain quesadilla. I guess to me it lacked flavor and needed a dash of salt for that cheese to stand out. Also got a kid Super burrito with fries. That was really good and a good size portion for a kid. It could easily be split between two children or a leftover meal. I had the chimichanga with the rice and beans. I really liked the chimichanga and it actually arrived still crispy on the top, which is rare. It looked amazing and tasted good but when you tried to cut into it, the crust was so thick and doughy on the inside that I couldn't cut through it without a sharp knife. Since I have a sharp knife, but no patience, I used my fingers and tried to pull it apart and well then I just made a mess and it didn't look appealing anymore. lol ‍. The flan was the star of the meal. And I'm not gonna lie, I ate half of it before my dinner and I don't regret it. . It was really good. Had a nice creamy consistency with good flavor. Monday morning I was in the mood for a breakfast burrito and a quick search on Yelp turned up Mi Jalisco. I had been here before a few years ago but was not impressed. Today was different. The food (especially the ceviche) has always been a favorite of mine. On this visit, I came alone, craving that same ceviche I've enjoyed in the past. Everything started off well. My waitress was polite and attentive, and my order came out quickly. I was really enjoying my meal... until something unexpected and disturbing happened. As I was eating, I saw something crawling along the edge of my table and toward the back of my seat -- a cockroach. I was shocked and grossed out. After a moment of panic, I managed to kill it with a napkin and brought it to the attention of my waitress. She apologized and said she would inform the owner. I told her I was going to wash my hands and would return shortly. When I got back, she apologized again and offered to get me some boxes. However, what surprised me most was what didn't happen: -There was no effort to comp the meal, -No sincere or detailed explanation of how this issue would be handled, -No reassurance that this was being taken seriously. I paid the full bill at the front and left feeling extremely disappointed. To make matters worse, this wasn't my first encounter with pests here. Just last month, I noticed a trail of ants along the window baseboard on the opposite side of the parking lot. I didn't make a big deal of it at the time, hoping it was a one-off. But now, after seeing a cockroach at my table, it's clear that cleanliness is a recurring issue. I still like the food, and the service is generally decent. But what happened today shows that the restaurant needs to take much better action when it comes to food safety and customer care. No one should be seeing insects while dining and if it does happen, it needs to be handled with urgency, transparency, and responsibility. I like their taco Tuesdays over Albertos because they give the cilantro and onions, their meat is also more flavorful; however, they don't give as much as Albertos. Cheap and quick service.
