If you want to treat yourself while in Whistler, BC this is one place that will work. Make reservations and ask for a fire place, they have a couple around the restaurant which makes for a total ski resort feel. A thought the same management group as the 4th location in Vancouver... there is no comparison, this location has its own special ambiance, appeal and unique service not to mention the amazing Italian dining. The pasta dishes are not over priced but it is an upper end restaurant. The whole experience here is special and its true Italian, try the tapa platter as well. Went here because of a recommendation of the hotel concierge but giving it 1-star is generous. Maybe we ordered the wrong thing but at an Italian restaurant that's fairly expensive (mid $20s), I expected any dish to be half-decent. SPAGHETTI QUATTRO: for Italians only. I don't even know what that means unless it means Italians like to drink oil and pepper. The spaghetti dish tasted like oil and pepper with stale pasta noodles dipped in it. It was almost inedible it was so awful. The ground chicken didn't even taste fresh. ($24) SPAGHETTI PESCATORE: the seafood didn't seem that fresh and again it tasted like oil and pepper. ($27) Maybe they spilled the oil container in our pastas by accident? The one good thing was that when I asked if they make their own pasta, our server said no. So at least the expectation was that they used dry pasta, but even with dry pasta, I was hoping for even an average experience. In the Pinnacle hotel. Some of the best Italian food I've ever had, and I've had lots! We first ate here in March for my boyfriend's birthday and our server, Bill, took such amazing care of us and guided us through the menu and options for me because I have Celiac and made sure I would be safe ordering gluten free food. We ended up ordering a variety plate of 5 individual appetizer bites. They were all amazing, including an amazing lamb chorizo meatball and mozzarella cheese. We also ordered the Italians Only pasta and it was nothing short of incredible. Just as great as Bill described. A little kick of heat, not to heavy and an amazing blend of flavor combinations!! We went back in July for a summer trip and arrived at Quattro to have Bill as our server again!!! Thrilled, we let him guide us through the menu again with some new summer offerings. We got an amazing goat cheese appetizer and split the Italians Only and the brandy cream sauce chicken pasta which was more tastey than I imagined! We are planning another day trip to Whistler soon just so we can enjoy some more wonderful food and service. Despite having to wait 18 minutes even with a reservation, the experience at Quattro was very pleasing. Everything was tasteful and well prepared: the bread, minestrone soup, carpaccio, risotto fungi, raviolis, gnocchi and the tiramisu. I'd recommend all of them. Good stuff. read more

Really enjoyed my pasta dish tonight. I thought that the pasta was cooked just right and the beef was tender and sauce was delicious. My family also agreed with me. Lovely experience here! We stayed at the hotel above here which gave us a 15% discount which was a nice surprise. We came here for our anniversary dinner - brought our own bottle of wine (corkage fee was $35) our server was a very knowledgeable sommelier which was pretty cool to chat with her about our bottle and her experience becoming one. Her service was 100%!! We ordered the Caprese and calamari to start. Can't go wrong with a Caprese. The calamari was not good :-/ the dipping sauce tasted off.. but that's just my opinion. I like the more smaller bites of calamari appetizers rather than it like a "steak" calamari cut up. My husband got the spaghetti special which had a nice kick of spice to it, and beans - which is kinda different but he won for best tasting dish! I had the rigatoni bolognese which was good. I don't know if I would order it again. Between the nice ambiance and service it was a great experience! Don't pass on the tiramisu, it's AMAZING!!! read more

I don't like to write negative reviews, but this one is warranted. I've eaten at this chain a total of 3 times. The pasta is so mediocre, it tastes like something you'd get from the Spaghetti factory, only they charge 4x the price. The food doesn't come anywhere close to Il Caminetto or Araxi (but the prices are the same). Araxi entrees are $25-39, Quattro entrees are $21-42. The only reason why I went back to this chain is because I didn't clue in until the next day that it was part of the same restaurant group that exists in Vancouver. But to top off the poor food, the server was a complete nightmare!!!! Holy geez, this french canadian girl was truly the worst server I have ever had in my life. I'm vegan and she was completely rude about it. She refused to check with the kitchen on what dishes were vegan (strange), she kept recommending dishes that had cheese in them, even after I explained that i don't eat dairy. Then, both the dishes that she brought out to me were made incorrectly (the mushrooms were cooked in butter, the pasta had parmesan cheese). I asked her why the pasta had cheese, and she said she didn't bother to write vegan on the ticket. OMG. I was kind of relieved though, because the one bite of pasta was soooo gross. It was the spaghetti quattro. The noodles tasted like rubber, the tomato sauce had no flavor, and it was full of salty capers. Yuck. No taste besides salt. She offered to remake it without the parmesan, and i was like "NO THANKS!!!". I asked to speak with a manager about my food options, and she refused to get him!!!! We were eating with friends, and they had selected the restaurant, so we were making light of it. But seriously, by the end of the meal, the whole thing was such a joke we were in tears laughing so hard at rudeness of this crazy server. For the record, I've eaten at quattro before I became vegan, so I can safely say that both their vegan and non-vegan items are not tasty. Also, my meat eating husband was not happy with his dishes. He said the minestrone soup was ok, but the garganelli quattro formaggi tasted like watery cream soup, and there was no cheese. There are a couple of Italian options in the village, but this is an Italian favorite of my parents for every time they want to carb load before skiing. They have an interesting variety of cocktails, which come in either those with 2 oz of liquor or 1 oz liquor. Prices vary from around $7 for a pomegranate mojito (done well, not too sweet) to $28 for some fancier ones, so be sure to check your prices. The wine list has some good Italian selections at very reasonable prices, as well, including a pinot grigio for only $43 a bottle. Starters include typical antipasti, but more unique things include arancini and a polpetti de mar (essentially a crab cake). The most memorable of the starters was the arugula with a light vinaigrette on top of shaved portabello mushrooms and beets with some extra creaminess from goat cheese. The portabello was thin but meaty and had a lot of flavor - definitely a unique and beautiful dish in terms of textures and colors. The bread basket has a french bread and then a well seasoned focaccia. I was a little surprised it was served with butter instead of olive oil, but the focaccia didn't really need anything, and the butter was fine with the other bread. They had a special 3 course for $29 tonight, which we also tried, and the endive and prosciutto starter had a generous amount of savory, thinly sliced meat. The star entree selection was the veal loin, stuffed with sausage, ham, and gruyere - the veal was tender and moist with lots of flavor, and it sat on top of a nero d'avola succo, which was almost like a ratatouille. For the pastas, each one is house made and fresh, so I'd highly recommend the sampler (2 person minimum, shared family style with 5 different pastas). My mom is a vegetarian, so they were able to substitute two of the pastas (one with prosciutto and one with chicken) to a spaghetti with aglio olio and a fettuccine with a tomato cream sauce. Of the pastas, my favorite was the fusilli tartufati with a light cream sauce and lots of various mushrooms. The orecchiette with a house made pesto was also done very well. The fifth pasta was a fettuccine with a traditional pomodoro, which was pretty standard. The 3 course came with a dessert of an orange and melon sorbet with two large house-made biscotti (the chocolate was amazing!) We also ordered an additional dessert, which was the molten chocolate cake with chocolate sorbet (basically a very dense dessert to satisfy your chocolate craving). Our server was very gracious all night, water was refilled frequently, and we were even treated to a complimentary glass of moscato with our dessert. The setting is warm and rustic, and it's good for either a date or a group. Continuation of the Whistler Canada Day long weekend reviews! Our first night in Whistler was celebrated at Quattro. I did some yelping and other reviews searching about this place and everything seemed pretty good. Q4 here in Vancouver has been raved about too so I figured there was no way I could go wrong. We were about 10 minutes late for our reservation due to the hotel shuttle service being late (it was raining..I had 4.5 inch heels on..15 minute walk...yeah not going to happen) but the host didn't seem to mind. Anyways, was seated in a quiet little corner with a view of the whole dining room which was real nice. The love was starving so we wasted no time to go over the menu. For appies we had the scallops and crab cakes (yum), and the scallop ceviche (a bit TOO lemony for my liking. I know it's ceviche but it was way too much), for our mains we had the Spaghetti Pescatore pasta with the scallops+clams, and the lamb rack. The pasta was the perfect al dente and I thought the sauce went really well with the dish. Our waiter suggested that no cheese was used since the flavours wouldn't go as well together. We said it was fine but then I remembered how Manlio (from Via Veneto) told me "No cheese on pasta is like a date with no kiss" so...I'm not really sure what to believe. LOL. The lamb..MOST TENDER rack of lamb I've ever had. I'm not a big lamb person..but when it's done right..omgggg...kill me. I would definitely recommend this. I will agree with the other reviewer below in regards to the share platter. He made it very convincing but then when I asked about the price..a bit steep if you ask me. The positive reviews and a location in Vancouver all made me think this place might be good. But our group was disappointed. The meal was overpriced and simply not that good. For a nearly $30 plate of pasta I would think housemade noodles would be involved. But the pasta seemed like regular dried variety. I had the "giant" meatball. To be fair, it was pretty big. But it was also breaded, deep fried and filled with cheese. Is that really fine dining? The house salad was nothing special. Generic greens with generic hothouse tomato slices on it and plain vinagrette. Service was slow. I hate leaving restaurants feeling like I got scammed. I came to Whistler for Skiing and left wanting to come back for Quattro - although the skiing is amazing too. I'm not a huge fan of italian food but this place is seriously good. I had the Portobello Mushroom Carpaccio and Quattro Pasta. Both amazing. I'd never seen Mushroom Carpaccio before and loved it. The Quattro Pasta is I crave it good. Whistler has a surprisingly good selection of food and Quattro is definitely top of my list. It's going to be a while before I can come back so I purchased the Chef's cook book and have already made two of the dishes. Had a lovely bottle of Amarone served with our appetizer of their version of a caprese with buffalo, surrounded by toast and carmel nuts for a nice sweet and savory. I want to subtract half a star for being slightly misled as to our appetizer. Our server (who did a great job) told us they were offering an antipasti/ share platter, which turned out to be excellent. However whereas most of the appetizers on the menu were maximum $20 or $30, it turned out the share platter was $54. Yes, we should have asked first, but it was a bit sneaky of her to offer an appetizer that was almost double the price of the ones on the menu. Like most people we assumed the price range would be similar to what was on the menu. Anyway, I have to admit, the food included in the share platter was wonderful. It was an array of smoked salmon, meats, cheeses and roasted veggies. Also, my main course, the mushroom risotto with several types of mushrooms, was amazing. One of the best risottos I've ever had. My brother and his girlfriend loved their pasta dishes, too. As I said, the service overall was polished and professional down to the last detail. The elegant and sophisticated ambience adds to the feeling that you're definitely in a classy, high-end restaurant. I would definitely return on a future visit to Whistler if I want to splurge on a nice meal, but I would be more careful the next time they offer me the "special". read more

Had three meals in Whistler over the holidays at La Rua, Quattro, and Araxi. La Rua was my favourite meal whereas Quatrro had the best service (and the meal was a very close 2nd). At Quattro I had the TAGLIATELLE POLPETTONE and it was my first time trying this dish. It's a giant lamb/beef meatball served over a fat noodle and it was awesome. I couldn't finish it and it made for an amazing lunch the next day. Went here on a Monday night. Had the special past which was linguini with a white wine sauce and lobster bits. It was decent, a bit in the bland side. My wife has the gnocchi with red sauce. The sauce was really great, we wiped the bowl clean with bread. The gnocchi itself was buttery, cooked just right so it was melt in your mouth good. We started with the burrata and tomatoes, lots of both. Good tasting tomatoes and flavorful cheese. I had the prawn bisque which was bold and savory with a great overall flavor. Very similar to the lobster bisque at the Met. We had the tiramisu for dessert. Definitely skip, it tastes like it had been soaking in alcohol too long. Not the best or worth the cost. With a half liter of wine it was $150 before tip. Good, but not the best. For better pasta, go find Lupinos pasta in the village. read more

This restaurant has changed for the worse since last year. Our family of four has always eaten here twice a year for weekend trips. But our last weekend will be our last for Quattro. First off, it was a bad sign when we arrived on a holiday weekend night, the place was half empty usually it is busy and buzzing. It was a night with 2 adults, 2 kids and 2 seniors and we ordered relatively moderate. My wife and I ordered only 2 cocktails. Appetizers, we ordered antipastos for 4 people each $23/person to share. Before the dish had lots of items for $18/person and would be filling. This time each person antipasto dish had 6 small items which were tasty, but definitely not worth the price. The other appetizer was a beef carpaccio dish. The entrees were 3 pasta dishes, 2 risottos and 1 salmon dish. The portions were standard and the flavors were okay, except the risotto's were runny. We did not order any dessert, because we wanted to save it for later place. When the bill came it came out to be about $400 (tip included). The place nickeled and dimed us on everything. Extra bread was $8, which we were not informed. They charged us $3 for 2 glasses of hot water! When I brought this up to the waiter and the restaurant greeter, their only response was "that's the way it is in Whistler". I told her that we went to other higher ranked restaurants in the area and had a much better experience at a lower price. We do not mind spending money for good food, but nobody wants to ever feel cheated, it leaves a bad experience forever in your mind I could tell they did not care, because tourists come and go, and they will get new "foodies" everyday. All I can say Whistler has lots of other fantastic restaurants, that will not gouge you, go elsewhere. read more

Well, you're in Whistler, you've already dropped money on escaping to a beautiful location with the ideal slopes for snowboarding or dirt biking, why not do it for truly fine dining? I'm keeping this simple--just like Quattro's menu: Antipasto for appetizer. A beautiful sampling of lamb and chorizo sausages, radicchio bocconcini, arancini, and caprese skewers. Tagliatelle Rucola: This was my moment of clarity. Pasta is meant to be tasted--not simply to absorb sauces or fatten bellies or be shunned by dreaded carb counters. I could taste the pasta. It was the best part of the dish! Tomato sauce and two of the finest ingredients meant for man: arugula and beef tenderloin. Pair this with a glass of Shiraz and end it with tiramisu and a double espresso? So happy. Come here only if you want fine food and fine service that will compliment your stay in Whistler oh so well. I think the beef carpaccio was one of the best I've ever had, with the perfect ratio of meat, cheese and truffle oil. Pair this with a great glass of wine and you'll be ready to ease your way into your entree. I really enjoyed the sablefish entree I ordered - the portion size was spot-on. However, my husband ordered the veal cheeks ravioli and practically licked his plate clean before I was halfway through the fish. So if you order the ravioli, be sure to order something else to go with it. (Other pasta dishes are larger) Service is very professional and there are some very serious wines on the list (i.e. splurgers beware!) We went to Quattros for our 1st night in Whistler. Quattros was good, but be prepared to spend a lot of money (perhaps more than you should). The wine was great and the staff was among the best I've experienced. We started with an antipasto sampler with a mouth-watering array of meats: beef, salmon, lamb, sausage, chorizo, and many more! All of them absolutely delicious! I could have made an entire meal out of just those!! The spaghetti Quattro, recommended by the staff was a little boring for me, but everyone else loved theirs. We topped off with some tiramisu to split and it was like I was back in Italy! Definitely get it. Classy italian joint tucked away from all the madness of the village stroll. It's not easy to spot on the street as there is only one sign and the restaurant is closely affiliated with a hotel. It was twilight, so for the lady it was quite romantic walking into an entrance that had walls and ceilings adorned with frescoes. Only 4 or 5 parties were in the restaurant at this time so it was fairly quiet. We were seated outside. There was a small worm on my plate when I sat down. The waitress brought over our drinks and I began to battle flies that wanted a sip of my wine. Our appetizer was the caprese trio. Fresh mozzarella - ain't nothing like it. My wife had the rissoti (with smoked provolone). I had a bite and it was executed well. For me, I got the tagliatelle. This is to-die-for. The mixture of beef and lamb just tantalized my taste buds. In spite of the incredible flavour of the food, the service and ambience were just a notch below other italian restaurants in Whistler. For this reason I give it a 4/5. read more

We had their 5 tasting menu for the table that was $70 per person. This was served family style Great value for amazing quality of food. One of our friends was a picky eater - no seafood! The chef created such a great meal for us, making each dish very different. Being a seafood and meat eater, I was afraid that it would seem like we were eating the same type of dish over and over. Absolutely not! Their wine list is broad with good price range to suit every taste.
