    Monster lobster.
    Susan U.

This has become part of my weekend routine. We stop by around brunch time when it's still calm, pick our clams and oysters, grab fresh fish, and never skip the shrimp ceviche. The tostadas with the ceviche is delightful. Quality seafood never disappoints. They have a good selection of beers which pairs perfectly with the seafood. I also found out that QS has been here since 1953 and the largest seafood retail market in the West Coast! The servers are always amazing-friendly, patient, and on point even with a mix of tourists and locals like us. It's one of those places that still feels familiar no matter how many times you come back.

    Seafood Paella- Just okay

Decent seafood in Redondo Beach, but definitely leans touristy and on the pricey side. Portions felt small for the price. Lobster bisque and lobster rolls were solid, but oysters were hit or miss, and some dishes came out overcooked. Honestly, if you want better value and fresher seafood, I'd stick with San Pedro Fish Market.

If you are looking for fresh seafood to prepare yourself, or have prepared for you onsite, Quality Seafood is the place to go. Whether you are looking for fish, crustaceans, mollusks or echinoderms, you are likely to find what you are looking for here. The market is located on the International Boardwalk in Redondo Beach. A visit to the pier itself is a special excursion alone. The beach, the shops, the views, the restaurants, the ocean breezes, the birds and the sea lions are all great for a relaxing day. Heading home with fresh seafood is a plus. A trip to Quality Seafood is a 50-mile roundtrip for my significant other and I, so we only make it there about three or four times a year. When we arrive at the market, we take a look at all of the displays first to see what is available that day. There is always so much to choose from. We usually get prepared food from the snack bar to enjoy onsite for lunch, then we get items to take home with us for additional meals. This almost always includes clams, scallops, and shrimp to make fresh seafood pasta. You can't beat the variety and quality of clams available! The people that work at Quality Seafood are knowledgeable and dedicated to customer service. The GM Marcia recently went above and beyond to help us resolve a situation that had happened a while back. Other standouts that have gone out of their way for us are Adam, Lily, Jovani, and Omar. Everyone works very hard and it does not go unnoticed. If only we lived closer to Redondo Beach, we'd be at Quality Seafood all the time! Unless you are someone that does not like food from the water, you will find something you love here.

Fresh (Live) Santa Barbara Crab - Female
    Melody C.

Hands down the best fresh seafood place with reasonable prices in California! You have to visit if you're in the area, better than piers in Santa Barbara and San Diego and any in the bay area. They cook all the seafood for you without extra charge. They have any seafood you can think of from crabs to oysters to lobster and sea urchin! Also have the classic fish and chips / paella / steamed clams / mussels. Lots of space to sit and eat, parking is very easy at the pier. Only a few dollars for each hour. I highly recommend the Santa Barbara Female Crabs for 9.99/lb. It frequently comes with crab roe, and the meat is sweeter than the dungeness crab! You can rent hammers for peeling crab and get your money back if you return it. The sea urchins are HUGE and so delicious. The freshest ones you can find. Oysters are on the pricier side, expect 3-4 dollars each. Clam chowder is delicious, lots of clams and toppings. They are crowded on weekends, so come during a weekday night. Expect to wait about 25 minutes for the crab to be freshly steamed for you.

Had a really good meal here with friends. We all shared a lobster bisque in a bread bowl, lobster Mac & cheese, salmon poke, octopus kimchi poke, fish & chips, and popcorn shrimp. Everything tasted good, just wish the bread & soup were a bit warmer. Overall a great place for decent seafood by the pier.

Great place to get a variety of freshly prepared seafood. We tried the Santa Monica crabs, blue crabs, clam chowder, lobster quesadillas, shrimp scampi and fish and chips. I would recommend the clam chowder, shrimp, and the quesadillas. So good! The service was great. The ambiance was lively. I highly recommend for fresh seafood and a fun lively atmosphere.

    Master Shucker
    Shane M.

Situated right on Redondo Harbor the views and seafood are amazing. We had 3 dozen oysters fully shucked and dressed with lemons horse radish and the guys special hot sauce concoction. He was super efficient at shucking. All the dining is a covered outside setting that could be chilly so prepare accordingly. Bottled beers and draft is available.

fresh seafood. From the clams to the oysters to the Uni! To the crabs and to the lobsters! Everything is fresh! This place sells LIVE seafood! Cooked to your liked or raw which I prefer ;) I come here all the time by myself, I don't really have family or friends that like to have seafood, but I come here time to time to grab me 1 dozen oysters & some live uni! And maybe like 6 clams with michelada haha Service is great! I forgot the managers name, but he's always friendly towards me.

Redondo Beach Pier Quality Fresh Seafood 2025
    Dr. Conrad U.

Live Fresh Seafood is always hard to find anywhere in the world but if you're in the SoCal area, Redondo Beach Pier is one of those Mecca where the fish meets the sea. Here, live clams, sea urchin, crabs and fresh seafood described their last names from sunrise to sundown. You actually pick the seafood and they will cook it for you, steamed, grilled or even sashimi or ceviche style plates at your service. Price varies depending on the type of seafood and weight, so I chose the clams, steamed fresh and served with a tuna ceviche. Wow, it does makes you feel like you're in the middle of the sea. I had swordfish grilled and showered with fresh lemon and bam, this was glorious to the roof, it tasted like butter running through your throat. I also had the ceviche tuna and shrimp and whoa, the seasoning made it taste like cotton sugar, the one that's rolled into a stick sold at carnivals and fairs? I had a light beer and my Labor Day has never been the same. Parking is about $2 an hour and there's lot of place to see after your dinner. The sea is just next to you and when you're done munching on these delicious seafood, you can walk all over the place to see fishermen and boats around the area.

    Lobster Lovers Bucket
    Melissa C.

Came with my friend and ordered the Lobster Lovers Bucket just in time before lobster fest ended. Such a good deal and already planning my visit during next year's lobster fest! Around a 40 minute wait even on a Monday night. Lobster Lovers Bucket: 5/5. 2 large lobsters, 1lb shrimp, 2 large corn on the cobs, potatoes, chicken andouille sausages, and a huge piece of garlic bread, all for $90 (without tax). This includes a $4 deposit for the bucket that you will get back if you return the bucket. Rice isn't included, I just brought my own but we didn't even end up touching it! The sauce looked watered down, but the flavor was definitely there! The garlic butter sauce is not included, but it's a must order cuz it's one of the best I've ever had. Shrimp was perfectly cooked - super bouncy and juicy. Lobster was overcooked in my opinion but still delicious. The quality for everything overall was very fresh! I recommend. Service is a hit or miss, with some workers being extremely rude and some being extremely nice. The hammer is a $3 deposit. PRO TIP: ask for papers and lemons, and bring your own gloves and tupperware from home!

    Ahi poke with rice (01/2026)
    Kareena B.

Got the ahi poke, half a lobster tail, and a whole fried pomfret for ~$70. The employee behind the counter was really friendly and helpful with the menu! Pomfret and lobster tail was fresh and tasted amazing. Definitely can't wait to come back and have it again. Poke on the other hand was okay. Fish was fresh, but missing a little more flavor and the rice was overcooked and mushy. Would probably pass on it.

    Uni
    Brian I.

This place is a one stop shop for a variety of seafood all in one place. They have fried fish, steamed clams/mussels, raw oyster/uni, poke, etc. You just have to get the designated line for the items you want. If you want different items, you'll have to wait in different lines to get those. The main reason we decided to come here was because of the fresh uni (sea urchin). I haven't had it straight in the shell so this was definitely a place to do that at. After ordering, it was about a 10-20 minute wait to get our order but it was worth it. The freshness of the uni is something that every uni lover should try at least once. The price is also pretty decent where I believe it was $22.99lb and each uni was a pound. If you come here with a group of people, I suggest someone looking for a table since this place can get packed. Last thing you'd want is to order a whole feast and have no where to sit.

    Big Pete's platter
    Sophia W.

I'll start by saying we were just visiting, so I can't speak for what a normal day here is like. We were in town for a friend's baby shower and, after a beach day, they recommended this spot as the go-to place for seafood at Redondo Beach. Since it was Labor Day weekend, we expected a crowd, but we arrived around 3 p.m. and it was INSANE. We waited in the main line for over an hour and a half before finding out crab orders had their own separate line. We thought the crab counter was for live crab pick up orders, not sit down orders. So we ended up ordering in the main line. We ordered the Big Pete's Platter for $129.99, and honestly, it wasn't worth the price. The seafood itself was tasty (I've had better), but the wait was frustrating. I also tried the fish ceviche, which was fresh and delicious, definitely a highlight. The environment was jam-packed, with no real seating available. We had to send people from our group to look for tables and stand near ones that looked close to being finished, just to grab a spot. It added even more stress to the overall experience. The service experience could use some improvement as well. Most of the time was spent standing by the pickup counter, straining to hear whether our number had been called. One group ahead of me waited nearly an hour; thankfully, my order came out in about 30 minutes, which matched the estimate on my receipt. Would I come back? Possibly, but only on a weekday to see if the experience is better. As for a first impression, it left a lot to be desired. My tip to this business: have better visible signs for your customers and maybe to-go menus so they're not stuck standing in line for something they might not even want.

My personal favorites are the lobster mac 'n' cheese, mussels, fish and chips, and the lobster bisque. Everything is flavorful, fresh, and prepared with care. Second, the bar. The drinks are perfectly balanced--strong enough to enjoy, but never overpowering. There's nothing worse than ordering a cocktail that tastes like juice with zero kick. That definitely doesn't happen here. The El Chapo margarita (along with many others I've tried) will have you feeling warm and fuzzy after the first sip! The location is another huge plus. If you enjoy people-watching, this is the spot. You get a perfect view of all the action, which makes the experience even more fun. Most importantly, the staff. Joe, Nicole, and (I believe his name is El D) El Dorado are fantastic. They're friendly, personable, attentive, and always seem to anticipate what you need before you even ask. They offer great suggestions and are wonderful conversationalists. They truly make you feel welcome, and if they have a moment, they'll happily stop and chat. I also want to give a special shoutout to Joe, the manager. I was organizing an event for my women's group--about 20 guests--and needed a venue that could work within a firm budget. When I called, Joe didn't hesitate to accommodate us. Many other South Bay locations either didn't respond or were outrageously expensive. This was seamless from start to finish. Joe worked with me to select the appetizers and music, ensured we always had water refilled and glasses topped off, and made sure every detail was handled. We had plenty of wine and appetizers, and the front area was reserved just for our group. The event was wonderful, and Joe's kindness and professionalism made it all so easy. Everyone loved Joe! Highly recommend Playa Hermosa--this place truly is a gem.
