Having interviewed several agents, I really liked their approach, friendly, professional but not pushy. They offered guidance that was surprisingly different from the others and it truly paid off! They handled all the photos, promotion, background checks and paperwork, really paying attention to what mattered to me personally, which was a huge weight off my mind whilst managing an international move. Now I have a great tenant and will definitely be giving J and Wendy my business when I come to sell my apartment in the future!

Russell was straightforward from the start and took the time to explain the entire process during our initial call, setting realistic expectations while also helping to build my excitement about the process. His level of organization and support really stood out. To make sure I was ready to move quickly, he provided a detailed checklist of all the documents needed for the application process and reviewed everything for completeness before we even started tours. When we did our walk-throughs, we saw almost 20 apartments in a single day. He filmed video clips of every unit and posted them to WhatsApp immediately, which allowed me to get instant feedback from my family and compare options in real-time. He was incredibly responsive throughout the financial approval and contract negotiations, making the logistical side of the move much easier to handle. I'm now settled into my new place in Carnegie Hill, and it's exactly what I was looking for. Russell is professional, highly responsive, and genuinely cares about his clients. If you're looking for a broker who is efficient but also makes the process feel personal and supported, Russell is a great go-to.

I had just moved back to the east coast from SF and so thought I had a good handle on challenging rental markets, but with the bidding wars and 60+ people showing up at listings, NYC was something else. I felt totally overwhelmed but luckily I got put in contact with Lauren. Through the whole process, Lauren was pragmatic, helped me realize what was important to me for my living space and lifestyle, and positive. She helped me adjust my expectations and feel confident in my budget and criteria. I was also looking out-of-state, which made things even more difficult and added a lot of anxiety. Working with Lauren took a lot of this anxiety out of the equation. I could send her listings to look at (because I could not stop obsessively checking StreetEasy) day or night and she was responsive and helpful. Every time I was in town she set up listings for us to see, and it was also very helpful to have her there with me to discuss and compare to things we had seen previously. Many times too, Lauren noticed things about apartments that I hadn't that would have had a considerable impact on my comfort level living there. I appreciated her constantly thinking about my lifestyle and looking out for things that would impact how I felt living in a space. I truly would not have made it through this process without her! Not only did she help me find and see listings, but she was also a friendly face and voice throughout this extremely stressful process. Her optimism kept me going when it started to feel impossible.

My partner and I were getting desperate (we had, like, less than a week before we'd be homeless,…read moreand the place we were going to rent screwed us) when I saw a great listing on Corcoran's site and went, "ehh, wtf." We got in touch with Akeba, who showed us the place right away. She was great--personable, friendly, not fake, and knowledgeable. And the place was HUGE--I thought the listing was probably BS, just because most are, but it turned out to be even better than the listing made it sound AND it was cheap. (3br for $200 less than the 1br we live in now? yesplz.) We needed to move asap so I provided every last piece of documentation I could almost immediately--I'm used to things happening fast around here. Everything seemed to be lining up perfectly. Then the landlord decided she wasn't okay with my dog anymore. Apparently she had listed the place as pet-friendly so's to, I dunno, stroke her ego or something, and then came up with some goofy reason for refusing anyone with a pet. (She told me my very well-trained Chihuahua mix who is roughly the size of your average housecat was "too big.") (I know this isn't the broker's fault, but it's part of the narrative, or something. I was rejected almost immediately, is the important part.) The broker then tells me, "It's okay, I can help you look for other places." Great! We have like two days to get this figured out so let's go... and the next time I hear from her is about a week and a half later, several days after when I'd told her my lease was up, for one place that's not even close to what we were looking for. The best part? Days after I'd been rejected for the original apartment, and after it became clear that they had no real intention of helping, they still charged my card $65 for a credit report. (Also, as a side note, making your clients write down their credit card number, expiration date, etc. and e-mail it to you is super sketchy and not even really necessary.) I hadn't used them before because I was wary of their lack of offerings in my price range, and now it looks like this is a trend that may continue. Honestly, it makes me sad that it turned out this way, because we had such a great experience at the viewing. Corcoran, I am disappoint.
