We had a great experience working with Emily Ackerman and Daoud Heidami at Bohemia Realty. Daoud and Emily make a great team and helped us navigate the entire process of purchasing a new home. A few things stood out. First, they are very responsive. I could reach them by email or phone any time I needed help and they would quickly respond. If they did not have an immediate answer, they would let us know that they were working on it. We had significant time constraints early in the house hunting process and they set up appointments efficient blocks that worked for us. They were very organized and even set up an excel sheet to help keep track of everything. Second, they took the time to learn about what we were looking for and help narrow our search to a very specific neighborhood and type of apartment. Part of that process was learning about what we wanted and they patiently helped us evaluate the pros and cons of different options. Over time, we went from vague plans to concrete and confident criteria. Third, they were very helpful when we needed advice or recommendations about related services that they did not provide themselves, such as an appraiser or loan officer. And when they gave recommendations, they followed up to see whether those people worked out. When one of their recommendations was merely average instead of excellent, they took our feedback into account and updated their list of contacts. We are using a contractor they recommended for renovations and, so far, he's been great. Fourth, buying a home (especially for the first time, as we were) is a challenging and complicated process and I felt that Daoud and Emily were 100% on our side. When there were problems with a place that we had seen, they pointed them out. They also were proactive about negotiations with the seller and creative about making things work for us. We used the services of Emily and Beth to sell our 1-bedroom apartment to upgrade to a 2-3 bedroom. We met with a few brokers before and felt immediately comfortable with them, on our first meeting they came fully prepared with a full analysis of the market in our neighborhood, comparable listings, etc. We decided to work with them, and if I could give them more than 5 stars I definitely would. Everything was perfect: they were very always available, extremely responsive to our emails/texts. They also did not try to push us into buying something we were hesitant with (they were not trying to get the commission as fast as possible, but were genuinely looking for our forever home). They also pushed us outside of our comfort zone, showing us apartments which were outside of our criteria sometimes (but always checking with us first if we wanted to see those, so we don't lose time). They assisted us in everything with the offers, the bank, etc. They were great advisors on all aspects, they were great negotiators. And we found a place we would have never dreamt of! And on a personal note, they are really fun to work with.
