Joanna is an amazing agent who answered all of my questions and helped me more than any other agent has in the past! So kind and knowledgeable 10/10 would recommend read more

Joanna sold a coop with the HARDEST co-op board imaginable. They turned down a cash offer just because they didn't like the Woman's mother! But, thank goodness, she got it sold. She has great people associated with her too for property readiness. She went waaaay beyond any real-estate agent I have EVER worked with and I have a LOT of experience to know She is better and smarter than any I worked with. read more

I knew she would work hard for me when she showed to clean my windows by hand. Joanna was the best guide I could hope for. Step by step she guided me through the process of selling my apartment and provided excellent advice. In the end I got a very good price for my studio in Park Slope. Let her do her job. Hire her. read more

Joanna is truly the best at what she does. She was recommended by a good friend of mine to sell my apartment and she followed through with expertise. From the start, she gave an outline of exactly what she was going to do and executed with precision. The pictures of my apartment looked incredible and it was quickly off the market. She gave feedback after each open house and followed up with all interested parties. She is always positive and works quickly and efficiently to ensure that you get your apartment off the market. Would definitely recommend that you use her. read more

I wish I could give Joanna a 10. When you meet her for the first time you feel as though you have known her for years. She goes above & beyond her job description. She is a true professional that is a delight to work with & always positive & cheerful. We interviewed a few agents before choosing Joanna. The other agents saw little potential problems that they wanted us to remediate before showing the apartment. In walked Joanna with her upbeat attitude & she saw no problems at all. Well she was right because she sold the apartment within a few days & for more money than asking. I cannot say enough good things about Joanna. She makes everything easy & actually pleasant throughout a very stressful process. read more

As a Los Angeles resident, the idea of finding an agent and buying a home in NY was very intimidating. However, I relied on the Yelp reviews and interviewed a few agents. Joanna stood out among the other agents with her knowledge and sincerity right away. From the beginning to the closing day, she has shown such professionalism, courtesy, accuracy and caring to my family and helped us settle down in an amazing condo in Bedstuy. I can't thank her enough for such successful, smooth and fun experiences. In short, I highly recommend Joanna to anyone who is looking for a dream home in NY! read more

Joanna helped me find an apartment in Ditmas Park, the neighborhood I'd targeted. She was wonderful. She's friendly, positive, expert. We saw a lot of apartments over a few months. She never pushed me but I felt was really looking out for me. I feel so lucky. Now I have to unpack all my boxes! read more

I wish I could give Joanna more than 5 stars! She is wonderful to work with. She was recommended to us by a mutual friend and I am so glad for the recommendation. We listed during Covid 19 but still got a full price offer within 2 days and even before the open house! Despite Covid 19 conditions, we were able to close on time. She helped us out so much with closing remotely and showing our condo to the appraiser and final walk throughs when we were not there. She is truly such a caring and genuine person. Joanna was vital in helping us learn about the market and deciding a listing price. She was great with offering suggestions but was never pushy or judgmental. In short, we wholeheartedly recommend Joanna to be your broker! read more

This review is a little different-- I'm 25 years old & on a budget trying to find a rental in NYC. I reached out to Joanna and, while her offerings did not match what I'm looking for at the time, she offered me tons of advice on: - where to look - how to find an apartment - which sites to use - how to find a broker that works for me She gave me a call knowing that I could not bring her any business and decided to help me anyway. If that doesn't speak volumes to her character, I don't know what does. I'm confident that whoever does business with Joanna will be very glad they did. read more

Joanna is an excellent agent. She was thorough and professional. She cares about her clients

Beyond 5 Starts! I closed the sale of my park slope coop at above asking price today! Just like you, I had googled tons of reviews to best select an agent. As a first-time seller, I was very apprehensive about this whole unknown process before me. I met a few brokers but Joanna stood out as she saw the value of my pre-war apartment unlike the rest who advised renovations. Professional, knowledgeable, extremely down to earth, and as one of the most genuine individuals I've ever known, Joanna held my hands patiently from day 1. She staged my apartment artfully, advised a just right listing price, and was always positive, in communication, and readily available for any questions and concerns. I felt extremely supported by Joanna and trusted her to work her magic. And magic she accomplished; we had gotten multiple offers! Selling from out of state, I was worried about the potential time and energy required in the process but I feel like I hardly lifted a finger! I am so glad I chose Joanna to be my agent and I will work with her again in a heart-beat. read more

Joanna was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. I cannot imagine having sold our Brooklyn apt during the height of COVID (!!!) without her. She followed all safety precautions to the letter, went the extra mile so many times to make sure the move went smoothly, and most of all made sure we sealed the deal. Thanks to Joanna, we sold our beautiful apt in a flash (found buyers within two weeks!) and with little stress. I still can't believe it. I can't recommend her highly enough. She is the best ally and broker to have on your side. --Jill Dearman read more

Joanna was great to work with. Super attentive and responsive. Would recommend working with her!

Joanna was the best to work with! Being out of state and needing to sell a coop apartment that had been inherited she was quick to respond to all my questions and concerns. And being unfamiliar with NY and it's myriad of regulations, especially in regard to selling a coop, there were many. She was more than courteous, patient, pleasant, knowledgeable, professional and very friendly (I could go on and on). It really was a pleasure working with her. Thank you so much Joanna for all your help! She helped me determine what a fair price would be and then in the end, I did not need her services because the unit sold to the people that were renting it at the time. She did a lot of leg work for me knowing she may not get a comission out of it and only asked for this review. Just the best! read more

My real estate attorney referred me to Joanna to handle the sale of my Brooklyn condo. It was important for me to work with someone I could trust and easily communicate with because I relocated out of state a couple of years ago. From working with my rental tenant to preparing for the final walk-through, Joanna was my eyes, ears, hands, feet--and heart--"on the ground" while I sold my condo from Florida. I found Joanna to be very friendly, responsive and available. Her guidance helped me to understand areas of potential risk while also keeping my expectations firmly grounded. She is adept at marketing and closing strategies that exceeded both my financial and timeline goals. It was a joy to finally meet her and I'm so grateful for her expertise. Joanna is the best. read more

Saying that Joanna is amazing is not doing her justice. This woman is a super hero. Not only does she have 3 kids, is a top broker is Brooklyn, but she is nice and generous as well. I liked working with her so much I hope we can become friends! Here is how my experience went. First off, Joanna showed me different neighborhoods to consider in Brooklyn which was great and helped me feel like I was doing a more well rounded search when looking for my property. I was feeling down on looking for a place to live and had been feeling defeated when working with other brokers. Joanna, said in our first meeting "we are going to get you what you want!" and she did! She looked at a lot of places with me and was always honest with me about if it was a good buy or not. She also recommended people to help me get an inspection, my attorney, ect. I was so new to the area that I didn't even know who collected my trash or where to sign up for water. She helped with all of that as well. Honestly she made a very stressful process fun and we laughed a lot. I can not say enough good things about her. In a city where brokers are too busy to help or don't care Joanna is the exact opposite. Work with her! read more

One reason we hesitated in selling our apartment is that we had met many brokers (and worked with a few), and did not like any of them. More important--we had never found one we trusted. When it became clear it was time for us to sell, we interviewed a few brokers. We asked around and one friend who was an acquaintance of Joanna recommended her but had never worked with her. As a person, Joanna was so far above/ahead/nice/better! than all the rest, that it was clear we would work with her. In our initial meeting and beyond, there wasn't the usual insincerity, phoniness, lying that we had come to expect in real estate. This alone was worth the price of admission. Joanna was also generous with her time, had a good sense of our neighborhood and did no try to pressure us into anything. If we were ever to buy or sell again in NYC, we would definitely hire Joanna without a second thought. She is a lovely, trustworthy and very competent person, and I'm so glad we found her. read more

Joanna is a gem. She did a comprehensive market analysis on the Brooklyn apartment I was eager to sell, recommended specific, cost-effective improvements and dissuaded me from wasting my money in others, and set a listing price that I initially thought was too high--but for which I received a number of offers. She is so enjoyable to work with, to say nothing of her extraordinary professionalism and dedication to her clients. I'm seriously going to miss her. Thank you, Joanna. It was a pleasure working with you! read more

Joanna was recommended by our neighbors and we were so glad to have found her. She provided solid information regarding similar listings in our area, gave thoughtful suggestions on staging and even provided furniture and a rug for the staging, connected us with a great lawyer, and most importantly guided us through the process which was quite stressful as we were relocating overseas and needed a relatively quick sale. It was refreshing to meet someone so genuine and warm, and I cannot recommend her highly enough. Stop reading anymore reviews on agents and call Joanna...! read more

Joanna was our rock through a tumultuous and lengthy purchase of a co-op in Brooklyn. We were struck during our first meeting with her by what a friendly, warm, and knowledgable broker she is. As first time home buyers, we had many questions, doubts, and reservations about the process, but Joanna constantly put us at ease and promptly addressed our concerns. She is extremely responsive and accommodating, and patiently answered countless frantic emails from us at all hours. Even when her extensive knowledge and experience didn't cover a particular question we had, she'd diligently track down the answer for us within a few hours. I highly recommend working with Joanna! She is a professional, positive, and kind person and we're extremely grateful to her! read more

We were blown away by Joanna's expertise and the level of service and care she brought to working with us on the sale of our apartment. She's friendly and thoughtful and is a true delight to work with. The day after we called her (a Sunday) she showed up at our apartment with detailed research on comps in the area and a clear overview of the sales process. She had ideas right off the bat for small improvements we could make to help the apartment show its best. She even helped to make the improvements, and offered to store some extra furniture for us to keep the apartment as uncluttered as possible. She was smart and flexible in helping us to set the price of the apartment and the timing of open houses, and we got two offers above asking within days of listing. Closing went smoothly as well, largely thanks to her careful attention to every step of the process. If you're looking for a partner who will help you get the most for your apartment, and will help you actually enjoy the process, call Joanna. We're recommending her to everyone we know. read more

We couldn't have asked for a more thoughtful, knowledgeable, and kind realtor to guide us through our first home purchase in the hottest market around: Brooklyn! We knew exactly what we wanted and Joanna's expertise in the area, along with her insider intel on the entire buying process, helped us navigate this exciting (and sometimes stressful!) experience with ease. House hunting and negotiating while my wife was in the third trimester, and finally closing with a 2 month old in tow, could have been a nightmare. Superior Real Estate Broker. Very professional and skilled in her trade. Very, very kind and always ready to listen to and cooperate with you. She really knows her stuff. Would definitely use her again and again in selling my house. FYI,if you also need slight fixing up of your house or coop to increase its salability, her husband is a contractor. Joanna Mayfield Marks is, hands down, the best real estate agent in Brooklyn!!! My fiance and I recently went through close to 6 months of searching for a property, and after meeting dozens of real estate brokers, when we met Joanna, she was like a breath of fresh air! We felt so lost in the real estate market for so many months, but Joanna pulled us out of the haze and made everything seem possible. Thank you, Joanna!!! Nancy A. read more

My home searching situation was unusual in that I was living 3,000 miles away and needed to find the right person to really have an understanding of what I needed in order to call a place 'home' . I communicated with several agents but when I connected with Joanna, I was confident that we had found the right person. Our home searching process with Joanna was built on trust, communication and innovation and with tools like skype and iphone, we had a full-fledged experience of viewing several properties in detail, all based on Joanna being a reliable and proactive support system every step of the way. A few months ago I was sitting right here reading through all these fabulous reviews about Joanna and decided to give her a call. I'm happy to report that all previously written reviews about her are true. Joanna is as good as it gets. I couldn't have gone with a better agent for the sale of my Brooklyn Coop. She was communicative, informative and reassuring throughout the entire process which made it all so much less daunting. I agree just hire her! read more

I met Joanna a few days ago while looking for a rental apartment in Park Slope. I was looking for an apartment with certain features that made my search very complicated. Most brokers' reaction would have been (and actually had been up to that moment) to ask me to fill an application form and tell me that they would contact me if they found something suitable. However, upon hearing my particular situation, Joanna went above and beyond what anybody could expect, taking her time to give me extremely helpful advice and information to improve my chances of getting what I was looking for. I left her office in awe of her attention and understanding, and impressed by her professionalism. It really made my day. I recently found an apartment, and immediately sent her a message to let her know. Thanks, Joanna! read more

She was always available via phone and responded promptly to any emails and texts. She really is one of a kind! Joanna was responsive, cheerful, and smart throughout the process of selling our co-op in Brooklyn Heights. What made Joanna stand out from the crowd was her willingness to go that extra mile. One example, among many: Joanna was doing the walk through with the buyer to make sure all was right with the apt. the morning before the closing. The day before we vacated the apt. Unbeknownst to me, I had left some important personal items behind. After what I thought was an empty place, turns out I missed a drawer. Joanna contacted me immediately and overnighted the items. That's what I call going the extra mile. read more

What can I say - the results speak for themselves. Joanna had our condo in contract, over asking price, within two weeks of putting it on the market and we closed shortly thereafter. Working with Joanna was wonderful - she made the very stressful process of selling a property so much easier. Not only is Joanna obviously experienced with and highly knowledgable of the NY real estate market, she is really really nice. She was so helpful when discussing list price and was an immense resource during staging. Thanks to her our marketing materials were beautiful. Joanna pays attention to little details whether it's addressing specific concerns, bringing flowers to the photography session or having someone come in to patch paint and grout. She was accessible, positive, efficient and lovely to be around during the entire process. She also does not hesitate to advocate for her clients. I highly recommend working with her! read more

Joanna is an AMAZING realtor. My experience with her was absolutely fantastic. She truly took the time to get to know me and what I was interested in/looking for. While we were house hunting, she was very patient and worked with me for over a year and half until I found what I wanted. She was great at sharing ideas and suggestions, but wasn't pushy about it and still went with whatever my preference was. She was also amazing at patiently taking her time to explain to me anything I didn't understand and helped me step by step in the process. When I found the house I wanted, she was excellent with communicating to all parties involved and responding to my texts, calls, and emails very promptly. I truly appreciated how available she made herself for me to help me with each and every step. She was also incredible at standing up for my rights and fighting for things I should get. When we did my final walk through before closing she helped me thoroughly check the house and found a few things we wanted to address and she and my lawyer helped me get all the credits I deserved. AND... even after closing, she voluntarily helped me as I settled in in making sure I got a few big tasks accomplished in my new house. She goes above and beyond in all she does and always gives her best! I recommend her to anyone and everyone! read more

My husband and I have worked with Joanna twice as our broker, and both experiences have been stellar. She was first recommended to us in 2012 when we were looking to leave our long-time Manhattan rental in order to purchase an apartment in Brooklyn. She could not have been more helpful, offering us invaluable information at every step along the way. (Think: A crash course in unfamiliar neighborhoods, financing advice, tips on negotiating the best deal, spending an entire Sunday afternoon side-by-side with us assembling our co-op board package, etc.) Joanna was patient, kind, understanding, honest, tireless and knowledgable. Plus, she's a complete delight to be around--and that counts for a lot in the NYC house-hunting process, which can be daunting at best.  With her guidance, we ended up purchasing a wonderful co-op. A few years down the line, we decided to upgrade for more space--when the time came to sell, she was our first and only choice. Seeing Joanna operate on the other side of the equation was beyond impressive. The thought and care she put into our sales and marketing strategy yielded huge results at multiple open houses and private showings. Within just a few weeks of putting the apartment on the market, there was a bidding war between seven different parties, and we couldn't be more pleased with the final outcome. Throughout it all, she has been available day or night to act as a point-person, liaison with lawyers and other brokers, and overall voice of reason. She thinks quickly on her feet and always has her clients' best interest at heart. There is no doubt in our minds that Joanna is the reason that our real estate experience has been such a success, and anyone would be lucky to find themselves in her extremely capable hands. read more

We just sold our 3 family house in Gowanus Brooklyn through Joanna and we would HIGHLY recommend her. We found her info after researching brokers with great reviews online and from start to finish she was a clear communicator and worked her butt off to get our house on the market and sold for the best price. Because we decided to put our house on the market at not the most ideal time (June), Joanna had to move like lightening and help us juggle alot of repairs, photography, broker and buyer open houses and multiple showings within a tight timeframe. Also because we live outside the city and had to manage final tenants leaving etc., Joanna was always available to get things done when we couldn't be there in person. Even once we got the closing date and couldn't manage a final rubbish removal due to my husband's surgery she offered to coordinate it all so that the final closing could go through without a hitch. She is a true professional and does whatever it takes to get your place sold. read more
