This is my second time staying here. The first time was pleasant which is why I came back. This trip (June 2026), horrible experience. First issue, they are renovating the first floor for which I have no issue. The problem? You need to post that online BEFORE folks make reservations. I have mobility issues and there is no elevator. I had to drag my heavy luggage up narrow stairs...very painful. Second issue, problems with their key cards...lots of trouble getting into my room with the digital key cards. Very frustrating. Third issue: their pool is closed in the middle of the hot summer. Post that online BEFORE folks visit and book on your website! Even if it's only temporarily closed. Fourth issue, the water was turned off for over 2 hours during the middle of the day for maintenance. Very inconvenient! Lone Pine is a beautiful little town with charming restaurants but not sure if I can recommend this hotel based on my most recent experience. read more

The staff is outstanding truly !I've been to five star hotels all over the world, and I have never met the kindest group of people anywhere. They went over and beyond to making sure I had every need was met during my stay . I stopped in for one night. I ended up staying six days. I explored the beauty in the area. The majority of me staying that long had everything to do with the staff at the hotel, no joke !! So if you're ever in the area and you're looking for accommodations, I would highly recommend staying at the Quality Inn in Lone Pine. I made some very dear friends there and will be traveling back every year for my quiet time after spending weeks time at our family home in Tahoe. First time I stayed here, they initially gave me a room that had not been cleaned yet. I walked in to find someone else's trash in the trash can and dirty towels in the tub. Tonight, I checked in here again. Believe it or not, they gave me an OCCUPIED room! That's right, I unlocked the door and walked in on some other dude! It's just comical at this point. I travel to Lone Pine for work. I'm definitely staying somewhere else from now on. Unbeknownst to us, our room was directly adjacent to minors. In fact the entire floor was reserved for a high-school group, except our two rooms. We received no buffer and no notification about this. Of course, there were noise issues from midnight until the teens finally slept close to 1 am. Sadly no one trained the night shift and when asked about contacting the chaperones, the response was "that is not how it works" and instead there only "solution" was for them to call the offending high-school students. Checked in during evening and discovered toilet wouldn't flush as handle was not working. Front desk said maintenance not on site until morning. What happened to 24/7 maintenance? Wow I had a great stay in this hotel. We had previously traveled in July and were pretty skeved out by how dirty the rooms were (Not this hotel) and thus I was pretty worried However, I was really surprised on how nice this hotel was. First off Robert was manning the desk when I checked in late and he was friendly and professional. Its nice being greeted by a friendly face after a long day on the road. I got to my room and before I did anything the I wiped down the room and it was spotless! I mean even above the picture frames! This hotel is ok. A bit overpriced at$160 plus various taxes. Room was clean. The bed was comfortable. Staff was attentive and efficient. All the amenities were there and worked. Breakfast, if you can even call it that was unfulfilling. You'd think at these prices they could offer more in the "grab and go" bag than a muffin and a bottle of water. Lone Pine is a little jerkwater town in the middle of nowhere. The only attraction is that it's the closest town to the west entrance of Death Valley. I got in late and was back on the road before dawn so all I really needed was a place to crash. read more

Just like Grandma's House! This hotel has a very rustic outside that might lead you to believe it would be dirty, but upon checking we were pleasantly surprised to find that the room was clean. The bathroom was a little dingy, nothing that a little updating wouldn't fix. The employees were very nice and helpful and the view was incredible! About the nicest hotel in the area. Very clean and new. Great views on all sides. Costs a little more than most others around, but worth it. All the staff we dealt with were awesome! Checked into the hotel after 4 hours drive in the dark only to find out the room that the hotel approved as "customer ready" had BLACK MOLD over all the bathroom tile. In some places they tried to hide the black mold by caulking OVER the mold with white caulk :))) Of course, the mold grew through the caulk. This fact only proves that the hotel management could care less about customers' health: how can a responsible person allow guests - and guests with children! - to check in into a black-moldy room?! And don't worry - the hotel does not forget to charge you for this stay :) Well, we were moved to another room after telling the management the breaking news about the mold. The next room had bathroom fixed seemingly not long ago - in the very place where the previous room had mold. So the management is aware it forms on top of their tile. Let's google "black mold" to read and have fun about it? "In severe cases, black mold exposure can lead to memory loss, organ damage, and even death." Black mold exposure may cause asthma in children who live in an infested environment, and can cause pneumonia in older, susceptible individuals. Fungal infections can also occur upon exposure to mold." TA-DAAAA. That's Quality! But the wallpaper in the new room was falling apart here and there, one wall had tear and pinched-through wallpaper. The surfaces in the room we were moved to were not wiped thoroughly: we applied wet wipe on the table, and the white wipe became grey :) So this was another room that is "customer-ready" (as Quality Inn sees the quality, and the readiness). The breakfast was a 4-5 out of 10: the 'scrambled egg' looked and tasted as if it was made out of powder. The next night we spent in another hotel for THE SAME AMOUNT OF MONEY - and we received a fresh room in a freshly-built building, with all-new appliances, mattresses, supercomfy pillows, not a single sign of wear and tear, shining new bathroom and the same level of breakfast. So comparing the two, we remembered this Quality Inn as a rip-off: it's not worth a cent, and it's a total disappointment. The WORST part though (ha, what could be worse): when the General Manager emailed me, and I told her that she should feel ashamed of herself for checking in guests with kids into rooms with black mold she responded that "I feel no shame" (because they are "constantly improving" blahblahblah). So this was the final note in this opera: when the manager knows for a fact they rent a moldy room and feels no shame about it - it's all I personally need to know about: a) the place b) the brand. - to never ever choose such brand in my travels. read more

This is a pretty decent hotel! My friend originally booked the reservation at a different hotel closer to Death Valley but it ended up being full. They emailed her telling her that there are only 3 hotel spots left at this location and if we want to switch. We agreed to switch since we already had our trip planned. After a long day of driving and hiking we finally got to our hotel. Outside you can see the beautiful mountains and there is plenty of parking. The guy upfront was very nice and gave us our key right away. The room itself was clean and better than what I expected. My friends and I ended up going star gazing by Alabama hills. It was beautiful out there! In the morning when we checked out they gave out complementary breakfast! The breakfast included a tortilla with egg, yogurt, water and granola bar. I personally didn't have the breakfast but my friend rated it a 5/10. Also, the ice machine wasn't working. Overall we had a good stay at this hotel. read more

Although it's on the Spartan side even for its class, Quality Inn Lone Pine is clean and well-located, making it a good home base if exploring Death Valley or the Alabama Hills. That said, I think there are a few things you should be aware of if you plan to stay here. All of these are nonissues for me as I am usually comfortable staying in more budget/entry-level properties, but of course your mileage may vary: 1. Housekeeping wasn't provided each day during our stay (three nights). I'm not sure if this was hotel policy or if they were just short-staffed. 2. The hotel looks over a busy thoroughfare (US-395) with most (possibly all?) two-queen rooms on the front side of the hotel facing the road. I can see the traffic noise being troublesome for light sleepers. 3. The hotel doesn't provide a full Continental breakfast but instead a "grab and go" breakfast (essentially a microwavable breakfast sandwich). The lobby was very well stocked with coffee, creamers, and sugar, however. 4. The pool is seasonal and was closed and drained in early March. read more

This place is ok at best. Usually stay at the Best Western but they were full and this place had the only rooms available in Lone Pine. On the upside the rooms are clean, its dog friendly, there are nice views, the morning check out person was very nice, and it is quiet. On the downside, it's 2 miles from the town center, the air conditioning was noisy, it looks dated (inside and out), some of the staff are quirky/gruff, the breakfast wasn't great and it was expensive for Lone Pine ($270/night). The breakfast eggs were dehydrated and cut into random shapes like a scree field. They didn't even try to make them look like real scrambled eggs like they do at the Residence Inns. The bacon was so thin you could see through it. They do offer hard boiled eggs which are real. LOL For $270, I expected a lot more. Won't be coming back unless I have to. read more

Quiet, clean and comfortable! After a few days of being on the road and doing plenty of hiking, this Comfort Inn provided us with everything we needed to get a good night's rest. The staff was very welcoming, the room was quiet, clean and comfortable, and the shower was nice and warm! In the morning I walked into the breakfast room (breakfast was included) not having high exceptions, but to my pleasant surprise the coffee was good and the breakfast was more than your typical continental breakfast offered in most places. So, if you are travelling through Lone Pine and need a restful night, Comfort Inn will be an excellent choice. read more

Hey Yelper's it's been a fat minute since I checked in. The current situation has put a damper on my travels....until now. I decided on a motorcycle trip from Washington to various places in California all the way to San Diego and Palm Springs. I left Palm Springs to head back north via U.S. 395. My planned first stop was Carson City. I rode through some very hot country and stopped for a break in Lone Pine Ca. It's not big but has a semblance of a downtown. Unfortunately I discovered my back tire gave up the ghost. Steel treads showing...ugh. Lone Pine turned out to be my terminal destination. Knowing I was stuck here for at least one night. I used my phone to get a room at the Quality Inn. I looked elsewhere but found no quality ( pun unintended). Originally I booked one night but it turned into two. The front desk was more than helpful in extending my stay and making it so I didn't have to switch rooms. Then I found out I needed another one night room for my two buddies headed down with a trailer to rescue me and my bike. Again the front desk worked their magic and secured a room across from mine and checked them in prior to arrival and gave me the key cards. I have to say I thought the room prices were a bit high for a town this size but the excellent people working here make it worth it to me. I've been cool and comfortable here and have been treated very well. Thank you from somebody stranded over a thousand miles from home. The staff is very good and very helpful. This is the best hotel in town. Room is spacious and clean. There are tons of towels in the room. Except the Best Western, others are mom and pop motels. Quality Inn is at the south tip of the town and thus a bit quiet. The front desk staff is very friendly. Although a bit pricy there is no other better choice. read more

Neat and clean. Looks like fairly new carpeting. Has a good size refrig plus microwave. Pet friendly and if you bring a dog they give you a first floor room with a back door that is directly attached to a grass area. Can't complain. I will share photos. read more

Hikers Paradise! I'll be the first to admit, I'm not entirely to the point of overnight camping on mountains in the wilderness *yet*. I did the whole tent camping thing with my son through cub scouts but that doesn't really scratch the surface of hauling a 40 lb pack up the side of a mountain for hours and sleeping out there. So... I'm still staying in hotels while out day hike adventuring away from home. When the Best Western was at capacity and I booked the Comfort Inn I was a bit worried. Wait, don't get me wrong I was worried from the start even with the Best Western. I'm not a St Regis or bust type gal but a Comfort Inn had me anxious. How was I to actually get a good nights rest? Would the place be clean? I was very concerned. For the price of Memorial Day weekend rates, I might as well be staying at the Venetian in Vegas so my hopes were this place would be clean and tolerable. It totally was! Service was super friendly during every interaction, on the phone, in person, check-in, breakfast (yes! they give you FREE breakfast), and check out. The room was large and really awesome at the end of a long day. The shower head pressure was everything! Trust me if you're out hiking all day you want water pressure that will get all of the grime off. There was a microwave and refrigerator in the room. We didn't need to use the microwave but good to know for the future and the fridge was great for storing our camelbak pouches for cold water and other perishable items. They have a pool and hot tub (we didn't use either), and a very nice outdoor deck that provides gorgeous tranquil views of the snow capped Sierras. We didn't have an issue with parking even checking in as late as 11P. I'd stay here again if visiting the area. read more

Comfort Inn is a popular spot for hikers to stay at when they are in Lone Pine, CA. There are a few places in Lone Pine you can stay in. Comfort Inn and the Best Western seem like the top two places I'd choose. These hotels are newer than the others. Comfort Inn a 2 min drive outside of the main part of Lone Pine. But, it's closer to the Lone Pine Visitor's Center, which is one of the places you would need to stop at to pick up your permits for hiking Mt Whitney. I like the Comfort Inn because of the exceptional customer service. Especially Jimmy who worked the front desk a few nights and days we were there. He was helpful with helping us with our room, suggesting good places to eat, changing our check out to a late check out, and even giving us advice on the problem we had with our car. There is free wi-fi here. And, 24hour coffee/hot chocolate. There's a pool, but I didn't get a chance to check it out. Their complimentary breakfast is from 7-9am. I wasn't too impressed with the food there. The eggs were all funny. Cubed shaped scrambled eggs. Their orange juice tasted like powder. Some of their biscuits were hard. The lady who works here is helpful though. I would stick with the oatmeal, yogurt, and waffles. (They had plain and blueberry waffles). The rooms were clean. And the beds were decent. The pillows weren't the standard sized pillows. There were more squared pillows vs. rectangular pillows. And each bed had four squared pillows vs. two rectangular ones. We did not run into any problems while staying at the Comfort Inn. And, I would probably stay here again. read more

I want to move into this motel. This is probably the BEST motel we have ever stayed at. We loved everything about it! Large, extremely clean and comfortable room. Thick fluffy towels in the bathroom. Queen beds were extraordinarily comfortable. Room temperature was perfect. Refrigerator and microwave were in perfect condition. Inner hallways but outside door provided a short cut to our car. Large window and glass door provided a beautiful view of the Eastern Sierras including Mt. Whitney. Staff was so helpful and friendly--why can't all motel staff be this nice? Continental breakfast was definitely a step up from most motels. Two kinds of breads and bagels. (Toaster available!) Donuts! Waffle iron to make your own waffles! Fresh fruit! Two kinds of cold cereal. Packets of oatmeal and hot cocoa mix! Apple and orange juice! Coffee! Tea! I know the previous Yelper had some issues. We didn't experience the same problems. As far as wifi--I notice the staff did mention that it was available in all the rooms. Since we don't have a laptop we took advantage of the one in the lobby, which always seem to be available (surprisingly) and at no cost. I wish that this motel could be cloned.....we loved it! This was our 3rd or 4th visit here to this Quality Inn and we have always enjoyed our stay. It is clean and nice rooms available- some with beautiful balconies to enjoy the views of this beautiful countryside. This visit we unfortunately left in a hurry and forgot a couple of items in the room so when I called back the morning after to confirm they could send our forgotten items to us I got Danny Guerra on the phone. Well he informed me that us our belongings were there in a bag - I asked the process in having the inn mail them back to me - he explained to me but admitted he wasn't all that familiar because he had not ever had to perform the process before, he volunteered to call Fedex and call me back... He got all the information from FedEx and called me and got it all set up. I'm extremely happy that Danny was so helpful and I want the company to know how he turned a unhappy moment for us in forgetting our belongings into making a new friend for us in our return next time to Lone Pine Quality Inn!! read more

My wife and I enjoyed staying here after a week of camping in Death Valley. Our room was spacious, with plenty of work-space for her laptop an beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. We experienced fresh coffee in the lobby each morning of our stay, and friendly staff at the front desk as well. Our room was clean, with fresh linens and nicely appointed towels in the bathroom. We stayed early week, so our hotel wasn't crowded at all, which was nice. We felt safe parking our loaded for camping truck in the well lit parking lot too. Overall, a very pleasant stay here and we would definitely return in the future. read more

Free breakfast consists of: biscuits and gravy, eggs, waffles, bagels, pastries, fruit, boiled eggs, yogurts, 3 types of cereal, milk, and various juices. Wow! The room: very comfortable and nice. The pillows and beds were great. We slept so well here and so did our kids. There's a fridge, microwave, iron, ironing board, hair dryer, and DIRECT TV!! So many channels! The lower level rooms have a small patio and the upper level rooms have a balcony. There are two doors in the room. One that is accessed through the hotel and with your key, the other allows you to access the parking lot once you are in the room. We would highly recommend staying here! Staff: wonderful! I have to admit that this is not our preferred hotel chain. Compared to, say, Best Western, the rooms aren't as nice and the rates are higher. So we arrive in Lone Pine on a busy weekend. Bishop was full so we opted for Lone Pine, hoping for a small, charming town. Small it is, but touristy and not really charming, with food choices that make Denny's sound appealing. About this hotel: newer than others in town but a bit worn out (window latch broken and window stuck, toilet needs repair, bed uncomfortable). Located 1.5 miles south of the main part of town (a bit far to walk) and right on the highway (as is the pool, which makes it unappealing). The views from our upper rear room are beautiful. Wifi is excellent. Bed not comfortable. Fan very noisy. Fridge, microwave, TV. read more

This was the perfect place to stay after a 4 day hike. Room/amenities-clean, comfty beds, working AC, and enough room for 3 adults and huge backpacks. The best part was the pool and hot tub. You can't beat a hot tub after hiking over 55 miles! Friendly hotel staff - We arrived at 9pm (when the pool/hot tub closes) but they were nice enough to let us still use it. Free breakfast- plenty of options from 2 flavors of waffles, eggs, sausage, breads, cereal, fruit, donuts and much more. We'll definitely return on our next trip to Lone Pine. A few years ago I stayed at this Comfort Inn while traveling back home on Labor Day. I remembered it being clean and comfortable so I decided to stay here again on my trip home today. Boy has this place gone down hill! At $180 a night this room isn't worth half that. The key card only works sometimes in the door. There is black mold behind the sink. Mold in the bathroom floor boards and water damage on the bathroom door. I'm guessing they don't bother vacuuming the floors anymore because there are garment tags and other dirt on the carpet. The wallpaper is peeling with black streaks and patches up and down the walls. I feel like I would have been better off staying at Motel 6 down the road. read more

Ok hotel. Ac kinda loud but clean. Plenty of parking including oversized. Restaurants/gas a couple miles away. Cute town to walk around in.

A very mixed bag. For those who have allergy problems, it's a no-pets, no-smoking establishment, and they mean business about both: hefty fines will be levied against you if you mess with them about either. It's ferociously clean, too. Nice mattress, quiet location south of town. However, they made a big deal of "free wireless internet access" and it turns out, that means in the lobby only. The tone of the admonishments about dogs and tobacco gave me a queasy feeling, too. The view of Mt. Whitney is quite lovely, and it wasn't a BAD place, just sort of weird. And I was annoyed about the wireless thing. read more

Super dog-friendly! Too often, "dog friendly" means "we grudgingly accept your pets". Not this place...our pooches were stoked, from the treats at check-in to the great big lawn that the rooms open onto. This lawn is fabulous, it's quiet, safe (away from the highway), and even has bunny-rabbits for the dogs to chase! (Don't worry, no animals were harmed during our stay...). It's a little dated, but nice for Lone Pine, and the dog-friendliness makes up for it... read more

Oh blech. I don't know WHAT hotel these other reviewers were staying at but I'm assuming it wasn't this one. - threadbare covers on the bed - flat pillows - tiny bathroom with a toilet so low to the ground my toddler would be happy with it - lackluster breakfast offering (stale hardboiled eggs, no bananas, no sausages, I don't even know what the scrambled eggs were made of) And all of that wouldn't have made me give a one star review, you get what you pay for and in the town of Lone Pine there's not much on offer. I expected no less than the above. BUT Our room smelled like they dumped a gallon of febreze onto the carpet right before we got there. I don't know what it was but it was HORRIBLE. After ten minutes in the room your nose adjusted to it, but each time we entered the room we were hit with a gag-inducing smell of cleaner. read more
