They went over and beyond to making sure I had every need was met during my stay . I stopped in for one night. I ended up staying six days. I explored the beauty in the area. The majority of me staying that long had everything to do with the staff at the hotel, no joke !! So if you're ever in the area and you're looking for accommodations, I would highly recommend staying at the Quality Inn in Lone Pine. I made some very dear friends there and will be traveling back every year for my quiet time after spending weeks time at our family home in Tahoe. On my way home from our families vacation, it is absolutely necessary to take some alone time, in nature to find my peace! Many blessings folks, you will find peace and the beautiful area. You will find kindness in their staff. See y'all soon

First issue, they are renovating the first floor for which I have no issue. The problem? You need to post that online BEFORE folks make reservations. I have mobility issues and there is no elevator. I had to drag my heavy luggage up narrow stairs...very painful. Second issue, problems with their key cards...lots of trouble getting into my room with the digital key cards. Very frustrating. Third issue: their pool is closed in the middle of the hot summer. Post that online BEFORE folks visit and book on your website! Even if it's only temporarily closed. Fourth issue, the water was turned off for over 2 hours during the middle of the day for maintenance. Very inconvenient! Lone Pine is a beautiful little town with charming restaurants but not sure if I can recommend this hotel based on my most recent experience.

The fridge didn't work, which we didn't realize until we had to throw away $60+ in fruit and juices. The shower wouldn't drain and found rolled up tissues in the bed. If all that wasn't enough to complain to management, he woke us up at 4am singing (praying) for an hour in the room next to us where it seems theyre living. Finally was able to fall back asleep around 5am, only to be woken up 30 mins or so later from a VERY loud yelling and shouting phone conversation. Not sure if its worse not being able to understand the conversation, or not. But when we knocked to ask them to be quieter, they came to stand next to the wall to speak even louder! WTF? Lone Pine, CA is one of the most adorable country towns. Its so sad someone would purchase a business and then take no pride in it or the community it belongs in.

We took a room with a shared bath and shower down the hallway. The room itself was nice, we love old historical things. This was in March, still below freezing outside. When we entered the room, the heat was stifling. I was able to shut off the steam radiator, and opened the window In spite of that, the room was almost unbearable all night. The radiator was cold in the morning, so that was not the souce. The room was on the second floor, maybe the rooms below are super hot? The lobby has historic photos of John Wayne and others The shared shower was clean, and we didn't have a wait at 8 AM. Be ware, the tile floor is like ice when it is wet. The room had a sink, so you can brush your teeth and wash your face. A must see is the Western Film Museum, on the other side of the street. Great breakfast at Mount Whitney Cafe across the street. I also highly recommend Seasons Resturant Good steak at very reasonable prices. Would I stay at the Portal Hotel again? Probably not. The room temperature led to very little sleep.

One parking spot per room located right out each room's front door. - I'm disgusted by their reuse of the shampoo. See photo. - I wish the restroom had more hooks or counters for you to put your clothes, towels, and whatnot. - For just one night, the price was a bit exorbitant. + However, I'm grateful the attendant was responsive on the phone late evening and this motel had rooms available as I finished my Whitney hike late night. . The room was pretty warm as soon as I walked in, but thankfully the A/C was working. . I prefer the sink not be completely separate from the restroom, but I understand it allows two tenants to accomplish two different tasks simultaneously. . The walls are thin, so you can hear neighbors having conversation by your window. Earplugs can help drown out the noise. I stayed one night: $151.20 total

It's an easy walk to several nice restaurants, including a local pizzeria. The service was kind and customer friendly and the room was clean and quiet. This was perfect for my plan to take some stunning photographs. The Timberline was my base camp for two days and allowed me very central access to my planned (and unplanned) shots. This is a truly beautiful part of the country with so many sights to see. Manzanar, the Bristlecone Pine National Forest, Alabama Hills movie settings, portal to My. Whitney, etc. I had a lovely stay here and highly recommend this comfy, convenient lodging.
