whether its up whitney or down to badwater, this place got all your basics covered. this is my 2nd time here, both times after whitney. its not AMAZING, but for what it is near a national park, its not bad. rooms were clean, ac was cold, showers were strong and beds were comfy. to top it off, hot breakfast included eggs (fried and hardboiled), waffles and sausage. breakfast also includes your assorted variety of breads, cereals, juices and fruit. eat inside or sit outside on the patio looking out into the mountains. staff was helpful when i needed allergy meds and when we finished our hike early, staff found a room for us to check in early. great service! price is more on the expensive end for an inn, but the selection was limited here. prices on par with other national park areas. when we arrived early, not only were the staff cleaning the rooms, they had staff cleaning all the exterior windows including the bug screens. read more

After a long weekend of camping, we were looking for a hotel that would let us bring our dogs. I agree with other reviewers that this place is not only dog-accepting, but truly dog-friendly. Our room had a back door that opened up to a nice big grassy yard where our dogs could run around a do their business. Also very convenient were the trash cans outside in which dog owners can deposit said business (by the way, please pick up after your dogs - there were some land mines back there.) Check in was quick and easy, the room was clean, comfy, heated, and had a microwave, mini-fridge, and running hot water. Not sure what was up with the half-sized pillows, but they were cute and still did the job of supporting my head. The free breakfast was quite impressive, with juices, waffles, yogurt, pastries, scrambled and hard-boiled eggs, cereals, and biscuits and gravy. I failed at the waffle maker, but that was my own fault. I recommend using the Pam on the iron. Look forward to coming again! read more

The Comfort Inn here in Lone Pine has an excellent staff and a really well-managed breakfast service. The room is clean, spacious, and well-appointed. Avoid room 131. Another great stay at the Comfort Inn Lone Pine! Thank you Comfort Inn for building the outdoor deck. Breakfast on the deck had the most breathtaking view. I cal it the million dollar view. Yummy breakfast too! The 24 hour coffee/tea/cocoa bar is the best. Rooms were clean. All in good working condition. Quiet and professional front desk. I recommend stopping at the visitor center in Lone Pine. I never tire of looking around and asking the rangers/docents questions as they are excited to be asked something else besides where us the bathroom. read more

1 Star - for the Breakfast. It was 'meh' and meant I didn't have to go across the street to McDonalds. 1 Star - because they kindly arranged late checkout - no questions asked... Everything else sucked- here's why; After a massive day summiting Mt. Whitney, all I wanted was a clean bed, an AC and a warm shower; my needs were barely met. Bugs: The room was covered in flies. Dead flies, alive flies, the entrance was just as bad. I killed 3 in 5 minutes in the room. Gross. AC: The AC made noise like it wanted to work, but it didn't properly cool down the room. The hotel was sold out, so complaining and moving to another room would have been fruitless. Elevator - or lack thereof: I know I just hiked 22miles, but dragging my roller up the stairs was the LAST thing I wanted to do - no Elevator on site. Price: I paid 193.00 for a King Bed on a Saturday in August, at a COMFORT INN. I know, I'm disgusted with myself too... I should have stayed at the other no name motels - it probably would have been a lot less and a similar experience. Lobby Bathroom with Poop in Toilet: I had to use the lobby bathroom before we got into our room. To my surprise, it was full of poopy water. I couldn't wait any longer so just had to deal with it, but out of habit I flushed - and the poopy water started to rise... And rise more. Then I got scared ( I was in my flip flops,) so I started to plunge, and plunge more, and thank god it finally receded. Nothing like plunging other people's poop. Odors: The room reeked of Indian Curry and Febreeze, with the Curry winning the odor battle. Iew. read more

So after ~15 miles of hiking, we earned out treat of an actual bed after 2 days of sleeping on the cold, hard floors of Mt. Whitney portal. spot Check in was pretty straight forward. Got a room with a king sized bed. Internet access was pretty good, once after I was able to log in (uh, took me about 6 tries to finally log in via my itouch). The room was decent sized for two. You'll see random animals such as chickens and rabbits running about. The comedy bit came when I wanted to take my well deserved shower...and there was no shower curtain! Blasphemy!!! Overall...typical motel that did the job for two exhausted hikers from Mt. Whitney. Oh, they had some complimentary breakfast here in the morning, but we opted for breakfast in town. At least it's there, as well as complimentary hot chocolate and tea. read more

It's a perfectly fine hotel, you won't find better in Lone Pine - but there are two things you should know: 1) It's 1.5 miles outside of Lone Pine, you can't walk across the street to dinner 2) Lone Pine is sadly out of business as a town - many businesses are closed and the town looks a bit worn out. Normally my family stops at the comfort inn when we are spending time in death valley. We up to now have never had a negative experience. My family includes two small dogs. I called to make reservations for the end of June however I called the front desk to ask questions and the lady on the other end of the phone was very rude. I was looking for clarification on booking a room. The website quoted a price of 142 the lady at the hotel told me the price was 190. I asked about a Government /Military rate, to be told she could not offer that discount over the phone. I asked about the increase between what was on the website and the rate she provided. She was rude and told me if I wanted that price I would have to book on the website. I will be travelling with my dogs. I want confirmation on how to request a dog friendly room. Since the website was not clear on if I was booking a pet friendly room. I was then told I would have to call back after after booking on the website. To request my reservation change to a pet friendly room. I then tried to see if they had those rooms on the date I had requested, at that point she explained I would have to book the room and call back. I asked the question one last time to see if the rooms were open. She told me yes but I better hurry some one else could be booking right now and take the room. I was very frustrated and felt that the question I asked made her upset. So I opted to stay at another establishment down the street. The rate offered at this hotel was same price and offed a AAA discount after she checked the Government rate and saw it did not save money. She answered all my questions and were very pleasant to speak with. From now on instead of being my first choice this will be my second or third. read more

Excellent customer service! I reserved a room anticipating my family and I would need a break on a long road trip home. As we got close to Lone Pine, we realized we were making great time and could make it home and sleep in our own beds. We knew there was little chance of being able to cancel our reservations bc we had missed the cancellation window, but when we went to check in and explained our situation, Cianni (sorry, I'm sure I butchered the spelling of her name) said she would see what she could do and that she would rather us be happy than feel like we were being forced to stay... with a bit of work on her end, she cancelled our reservation free of charge! We couldn't believe it and were so grateful to get home to our dogs and our own beds a night early. She went above and beyond and was more concerned with our happiness than collecting money for our stay. read more

I should probably keep this experience to myself because I found a nice little gem of a hotel at Lone Pine but the staff there deserves much credit! Sure the decor and building can use a facelift for others but to me it adds more appeal to the city whose slogan is "little town lots of charm". The corridors and halls were decorated with movie stars pictures and the movies they made in Lone Pine...mostly Western films. There's 2 vending machines downstairs and an ice maker. We didn't get to try the outdoor pool because it's not the season. We rented 3 rooms for 1 night and all of them were very clean and the beds were comfortable. That's what most travelers ask for anyway, but only a few hotels can manage. I've stayed in more luxurious places and failed on those 2 important criterias. They offer free continental breakfast. Nothing special but not bad either. The front desk staff were very accommodating. All our 3 rooms were next to each other and upstairs. This hotel is non smoking. Y'know the book The Little Engine That Could? That's this hotel. It may lack some of the things you're looking for but the cleanliness of the place and the staff more than makes up for it. Oh, and if that's not enough- after our party left I get a call from the front desk that an iPad mini was left behind by us. My sister didn't even know her daughter's tablet was missing until I gave it to her! How's that for customer service and honesty! Thank you Comfort Inn staff at Lone Pine, CA. Awesome place to stay when passing through or just checking out Mt.Whitney. It's not super fancy, but very clean and comfortable. The room had a refrigerator and microwave which was a definite plus. The pool was on the cold side but the hot tub was nice and hot. The only negative was a poor wifi signal, but it was no big deal in my circumstance. read more

This was a nice, neat & clean place to stay in the "frontier" of the Owens Valley. My husband and I stayed here on a visit to Death Valley. This was a cheaper option than staying in Death Valley (almost half as much), but you trade off driving about an hour and a half into the center of the park. For us it was not a big deal, we were only going in for the day, but if you're planning a multi-day venture it's one heck of a commute. We stayed in Death Valley until dark to see the stars (which were amazing) and drove back to Lone Pine... truly a "middle of nowhere" drive; there were only two other cars on the 100 mile drive in the pitch-dark. If you're OK with that, then this is a good place. The hotel itself was great, a pleasant surprise since regular Comfort Inns (non-suites) tend to be very hit-or-miss. Our room had a comfy bed and a great mountain view! The customer service was excellent, too. I have to knock off one star for the breakfast since that was mediocre, so we wound up exploring the very cute town of Lone Pine for a better option. read more

This hotel is run by one of the most friendly, informative, and pleasant ladies I've ever met. The free "Sunshine" breakfast was very good, although we didn't risk operating the waffle machine. Other guests did, though, and it looked like great fun. Anyway. My only complaints are about our not-so-comfy king bed and dysfunctional heater. But we didn't freeze and my back doesn't hurt, so if for some reason I find myself in Lone Pine again I'll probably sleep here. read more

This was my stay in a Comfort Inn hotel and I must say beat my expectations. We stayed in room 208 and I thought we underpaid for what we got. The room and bathroom was clean. My brother and I were there 9/13-15 for some motorcycling. The room and facility was nice for a motor lodge, Has a pool and hot tub after a day of riding. Although, the highlight was Cianni , who has the most positive and upbeat personality around. She always had a pleasant thing to say that could bring up anybody's spirits. 5 stars for Cianni, she made a 2-3 star motel a 4 star. The other staff members were friendly and courteous. Free breakfast , rooms were good/clean with a great view of Mt Whitney. No local restaurant, decided to walk to Lone Pine which was a mistake since it is 2 miles. Not great walking back in the dark along 395, wish they had a shuttle. read more

I must say loose was excellent and helping me with my breakfast. She is just a ray of sunshine. I only wish then I could get personalities like this in Los Angeles. you only get middle fingers in Los Angeles and I think we all know this. she was nothing but giggles and good times I loved the front desk. I worked the night shift and everyone at the front desk including the manager was lovely to deal with even though I had a late time in leaving. I will highly recommend. The only thing good about this palce are the beds. First room neither the sink or bath drained. Second room the sink drained very very slow. The desk top had food stains and also there was a tissue folded all fancy in the holder but that was the only tissue. There needs to be better quality control of the rooms.The breakfest area was so small and crowed we left and bought breakfeat, it was all commmunity handled utinsels. I wont be back. read more

He offered us a great rate, clean & comfortable room, and made sure the baby bassinet was set up for us! He also explained the perks of the hotel (breakfast, views of the mountains, etc). We have stayed here for the last 3 years and it's partly due to the wonderful breakfast; which included the best biscuits and gravy I've ever had....they're gone! Hot breakfast, waffles, scrambled eggs, oatmeal, biscuits & gravy, toast, bagels, english muffins, mini muffins, yogart, cereal, hard boiled eggs, juice, coffee, tea & hot chocolate all FREE...Thanks Danny Guerera for the easy check in. Also thanks Luz for the great breakfast & remembering us from last year. The pool & jacuzzi is nice & clean. Rooms are perfect. We stayed downstairs & it was quite. Either we had good upstairs neighbors or no one was up there. Our neighbors to the sides of us were also quite (maybe good walls?). We know we had neighbors because the we got the last room downstairs. We will make this our annual stop on the way home from our annual camping trip to Annett's Mono Village in Bridgeport. I stayed at the Lone Pine Comfort Inn for 2 nights with my family in March 2016, and we had a nice stay. The Hotel is located about 1.2 miles from the center of town (restaurants/bars), and the closets hotel to the Death Valley park entrance. There are no restaurants/buisnesses located adjacent to the hotel. The hotel feels a little dated, but it's very clean. The hotel is a 2 story building with NO elevator. If you are older or have a lot of luggage I would confirm a 1st floor room. The desk staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel has free self parking, a 24 hour Coffee, tea and hot chocolate bar. There is also a pool and jacuzzi, but it's only open seasonally. When I stayed at the hotel it was fully booked and the weather was nice, but the jacuzzi was closed because it was not the scheduled open date. There is NO gym. The stay comes with a free daily breakfast which included; eggs, sausage, 3 types of cereal, breads and pastries, fruit, waffle maker, milk, coffee, juice bar, and yogurt. The breakfast dinning room was small, combined with the fact that the hotel was fully booked made for a very crowded feeling. The room was small, but was clean and well maintained. It had a medium flat screen television with lots of cable channels. There was a small refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, and iron/board. There is NO room safe. There is also a desk/chair, and a sitting chair There was free room WIFI with a strong signal. The furniture seemed dated, but maintained. There is no closet, but there is a hanging rack. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The bathroom was also small, clean, and the maintenance could be a little better. The sink is outside, and the tub/shower and toilet is in another room. The bathroom also has a blow dryer. The hotel/room was nice and clean. Next time I'm in Lone Pine I would probably try a different hotel(based on the price), but I wouldn't mind staying here again. read more

The room had all necessities (fridge included). Coffee and tea making facilities are available 24h at the front desk. Staff was very welcoming and helpful (when we struggled with the laundry facilities they helped us very quick and with a smile). Breakfast was good, clean and not too crowded. I was totally appalled we were charged $228.00 to spend the night in this hotel. Old dated hotel we got the last room according to the front desk girl. Yet we kept seeing people signing in. No restaurant near by. In the outskirts of the city. I feel this room was worth 60-75 dollars at the most. I think they take advantage of people passing through. read more

This hotel is pretty nice. The quality of location is kind of relative. It is a wonderful part of the universe, but this hotel is at the edge of the town so it would be away from the pubs and such. (But I wouldn't know about the questionable existence of night life in this tiny town.) We could hear our neighbor all too well. Some kind of sound penetration problem. Our neighbor was on the phone for hours brokeraging a thousands of dollars worth of a deal and he wanted to be heard. The breakfast looked clean and neat. My mother tried some kind of porridge and claimed that it was inedible. She regretfully had to leave that food uneaten but had yogurt instead. The staff was cool. Clean and comfortable beds with several pillows to choose from. The heater was a bit on the loud side but tolerable. I got a good rest here and took a shower in a clean bathroom. The only downside was that the floor was dirty enough to darken my feet and the room corners had not been vacuumed. The rooms are quite small and the free internet was not great. The room was extremely clean, but no desk or chair for doing computer work. Neither the pool or Jacuzzi were open during our visit.
