After posting my reviews, I received a phone call from one of the trainers apologizing for not…read moreresponding to my inquiry. She was very kind and explained a mix up regarding emails with the owner. No big deal; these things happen. I appreciated her apology. She did inform me that they do not train in the kind of scent work I am looking for, and she sadly doesn't know anyone near my location who does. My only suggestion would be for the owner, since they are the ones who receive the emails. It might be best to respond to the customer in an email and state something to the effect of, "Colonial K9 has received your request and we will be forwarding your message to the respective trainer. Please let us know if a trainer has not gotten in contact with you in the next 48/72 hours." This way the customer knows their email has been seen and read. Otherwise, the customer feels their request wasn't taken seriously. Additionally, a reminder message or task could be created within the Microsoft 360 platform and be sent to the trainers. Just some ideas to help the customers and trainer so a customer isn't lost due to mistakes. Thank you again for the apology. It is appreciated. I have bumped my review up from two stars to fours stars. **Original Review** ***I have not used their services***This is only a review based on communication, or lack thereof*** On 08MAY2024, I called Colonial K9 to inquire about dog training; specifically scent work. I have been looking for a solid trainer since moving here. It has not been easy finding a reputable trainer. During the phone call, I was told to send an email because emails go straight to the owner. The owner will review the email and either respond personally, or the owner will send the email to the respective trainer. I thanked the person who I spoke with and promptly sent an email detailing my dog training needs. By 15MAY2024, I still hadn't received a response from Colonial K9. As a result, I sent another email and stated; "I am following up from my attached email as I have not received a response. If you are unable to help us, it's understandable. I would appreciate it if you could give us a referral on a trainer who can help." As of today, 24MAY2024, I have yet to receive a response. I am not sure where the disconnect is. All I want to do is find a solid trainer to continue with scent work training. I guess Colonial K9 isn't interested in assisting. Copy that!

Fox Hollow Kennels in Gordonsville, VA-this kennel is on a beautiful farm location. However, I am…read morevery disappointed with my experience with this kennel. I was looking for a kennel to board the family dogs. I scheduled a "trial boarding" to see how things would go. Everything went great. I then scheduled to board my dogs for a week. The arrangements made were for a PM drop off and a PM pickup. I called a week before the scheduled boarding to confirm the drop off and pickup times of 6-6:30 PM. I had to leave a message on voicemail. No response to my call. I felt certain that my times were OK and there was no problem. The dogs were dropped off at about 6:10 PM...on the way over, I received a call from the kennel inquiring where I was. When I got to the kennel I had a discussion with the owner about the pickup time at the end of the week-the owner had me scheduled for an AM pickup. I advised a PM pickup was scheduled right from the beginning and the owner assured me that her schedule would be changed to reflect the PM pickup. I received a call about 10:00 AM from the kennel inquiring where I was and if I was picking up my dogs. I stated the dogs were scheduled for a PM pickup between 6-6:30 PM. At this point, NO ONE advised me that they closed at 6:00 PM. On the way over to pick up the dogs, I was stuck in traffic due to a one lane closure for construction, I received a call from the kennel inquiring if I was coming for the dogs. I advised I was stuck in traffic would get there asap. I was advised they may be closing with or without me picking up my dogs....Really??? When I arrived, I was told the owner was on vacation by the employee, within minutes, the owner appeared around the corner. Now I am wondering what is going on with these people! I had a discussion on the drop off/pick up times. I recommended they post the hours on the outside of their building. The owner removed a 4x6 white piece of paper with magic marker noting the hours of operation which was posted on the door window. Very difficult to see when entering-not noticeable. I was advised that the hours are posted on their website and on Facebook. I stated, I wasn't sure if I would return for boarding here. The owner stated that she did not care if she lost a customer or any possible referrals because she has a lot of happy paying customers. Her kennels were filled. I left and was driving home when I received another call from the owner stating she was going to take me up on my offer and I was no longer welcome to board my dogs. When I got home, I discovered my dog had an injured leg and had to take her to the vet for treatment the next morning. This dog who requires medication 2X a day, did not receive an evening dosage at some point. There was an extra dosage left over. (All medications were in baggies with dog's name & notation of AM or PM for dosage.) I WILL NOT RECOMMEND OR USE THIS KENNEL AGAIN.

My dog is a year and a half old and can barely walk. All of these things are genetic issues that could have been prevented via health testing. I urge you to use caution with this breeder. My dog's life is now significantly shortened by these terrible breeding practices. I love my dog and would never accept a refund as this isn't about the money at all, but I wanted a dog who would be healthy enough to keep up with me, but now she can barely be touched and lives on 4-6 different medications daily just to keep her pain manageable.
