Yesterday I was an anxious mess because my new kitten suddenly stopped taking interest in any of…read morehis toys and wanted to sleep all day. This had been going on for a few days. I called my vet, and they were unable to fit him into their schedule. It was a Friday, and they wouldn't be open again until Monday. I live in the Vienna area, so I called multiple other local vets, none of whom would see my kitten for a same day appointment. I called Amberwood, and they were able to fit him into their schedule that day. After driving an hour and a half to Amberwood, Dr. Burchard picked my kitten up and immediately knew he had a very high fever and would need antibiotics before even taking his temperature. He was surprised my kitten was still walking due to the fever being so high! He took the time to explain how my kitten likely contracted his illness, and what each of the medicines is for as well as what they equate to in human medicine terms. My kitten is now home resting and recovering. If I had waited for the next available appointment with my vet, things might not have had such a happy ending. Thank you to Dr. Burchard and the Amberwood staff for squeezing my kitten into your very busy schedule and making sure he was well taken care of. It was a hectic day for your office, but everyone was friendly and professional. I appreciate your expert care and only wish you were closer to Vienna!

What an unprofessional establishment. The woman doesn't answer the phone with the business name so…read moreyou really have no idea if you have reached the correct number. The website information is extremely lacking and at least some of it is incorrect. The website states that you can make an appointment on Sundays but that is an absolute lie and if you aren't okay with that, Jen will hang up on you. I guess one way to receive an extra day boarding for each dog is to not be open on Sundays. What person with integrity does that?? She is available for tours only on Saturdays...when she decides to work. And she is never at the location so I'm not sure who is actually caring for the dogs that people have entrusted to their care. When you call she is either rude or wishy washy. This woman has no business running a "professional" business or caring for ANY other living being. Thankfully I found all of this out with a phone call and not at my dogs' expense.

Losing a beloved pet is difficult enough, which made my recent experience with my dog's end-of-life…read morecremation even more disappointing. I paid hundreds of dollars, only to have my dog's ashes returned in a plain plastic black box with no engraved nameplate, paw print, or any sense of compassion or care throughout the process. I recently had another dog cremated through Amberwood, and the difference was remarkable. Their pricing was more reasonable, the presentation was thoughtful and respectful, and the staff communicated with genuine empathy during a very difficult time. When a veterinary hospital shows so little care for a family member's final arrangements and the handling of their remains, it raises serious concerns about the level of compassion within the overall practice. This experience was extremely unfortunate and deeply disappointing.

That is outrageous! I contacted 3 other vets in the area and the cost is $350.00 to $375.00 and yes it was with everything except teeth removal. This place is going to cost you a lot more money than any other vet in the area FOR ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING THAT THEY DO FOR YOUR ANIMAL.
