Quadrant: "It's more than a lounge, it's an experience" I swung by randomly one night after work with my team, so we didn't have any reservations for our large group (15 people) but they accommodated, which I find a rare trait in DC restaurants these days. The entrance was tough to find, I found myself trying to go through the West End Bistro doors- wrong, Equinox doors- also wrong, and finally the Ritz entrance to get to this place. This place has a cool vibe, very "modern library" type of feel. One of those places that has please-don't-touch-or-sit signs everywhere. We sat down and were quickly given menus. I have to say, along with any Ritz location you go to, the staff is amazing. We ordered our drinks any he would constantly check in and refill our waters. At one point in the night, our group got smaller so we all sat at one table, the staff was quick to accommodate. We also kept ordering off the dinner menu, which was more like apps and at one point we really wanted something a bit heavier and asked if there was anything else we could order. He asked us if we were staying in the hotel, which we weren't, but let us order off of the room service menu. This was a plus. I can't speak for the drink, I hear they have a great mixologist on the team and I hope to return to check that out, but as for the food and experience it was great. I recommend checking this place out, it doesn't seem like it gets jam packed after work ours which does make it a nice place to lounge with the Ritz experience. read more

Slightly overpriced, service was good, salad was great, drinks were yummy. Noise level was surprisingly low.

One toilet stall in the female restroom (just one stall and a sink) is not really enough for the bar and connected restaurant. The bar was hectic, crowded, and loud, and I got bumped into many times. Good service was not there but they were legitimately slammed. The staff passed out some festive accessories and champagne close to midnight. The cocktails and food all looked really good. I bet Quadrant would be excellent on any day that's not NYE. read more

Absolutely loved my visit here! My boyfriend and I decided to grab a few drinks before heading over to our dinner reservation at westend bistro (which was directly connected to this bar-came in so clutch because it was pouring outside). This place has a swanky ambiance with live music and gorgeous interior. We grabbed a seat right by the bar and the bartender was so attentive and cordial. He let us taste our wines before committing to any of them, which was a nice touch to the great experience we were already having. We also ordered the charcuterie board which was sooo delicious. There are plenty of seating options - from cushy sofas to high top tables, there's a spot for everyone. Even though the price is on the higher end, I highly recommend this spot for a special occasion :) read more

I am a long time Bonvoy member and typically love Marriott properties. I took a friend to the Quadrant lounge at the West End RC in Washington DC. The service was poor at best. When I asked for a list of bourbons I was basically told to go look at the bar. My friend and I had a total of six drinks and food. At then end of the evening, I paid and realized that the bar had charged me for an extra drink. It appears that when one bourbon was no longer available, they charged me for that and the bourbon I ultimately received. The waiter did take the drink off but in the process pressed us to add and additional tip over and above the 22% we had already tipped. I am disappointed in both the company and the employees that think it is alright to charge for extra drinks, and then have the absolute audacity to ask for an additional tip over and above a 22% tip. If this is the future of Marriott properties... count me out. I go to Marriott properties for exceptional service, great food and drink... all of which were lacking last evening. read more

We had not planned to celebrate my husband's birthday here but ended up here by chance. Given that this is a lounge/bar, not bad but very expensive for medium quality food. Octopus appetizer was excellent, salad was mediocre, filet was very good, salmon was ok. Finished with a limoncello cheesecake and dulce de leche ice cream which was very nice. Service was fine until the end when we asked for a doggy bag since we only finished half of our dinner. They put the bag on a table behind us but we left it behind and didn't realize it until we got home. We called to try to retrieve it but was told it had been thrown out. This was the first time I had experienced such callous service. Would not have expected this at the Ritz. read more

Beautiful bar with amazing drinks and service. There were so many comfy seats and a fireplace, as well. The ambiance is fantastic. The seats are arranged so that there's some amount of privacy. Did I mention how great the music was, too? Not too loud but with just the right amount of rhythm and energy. The servers were absolutely fantastic. Very helpful and polite; they took the extra step to make everyone feel welcome. It also happened to be Earth Day, so instead of lights, there were a bu h of candles! We had to hunt our server down for water refills and to order. I know it's a hassle to split checks, but we were told by server to "Figure it out yourself." Chris does an amazing job with innovative cocktails and the bourbon vault is also a very cool feature. He is using sous vide and other technologies to create interesting and new drinks. To me the ultimate test of a bar is either a Manhattan or an Old Fashioned. Tried the Old Fashioned and they started with a decent base 'Knob Creek' muddled my orange and bitters didn't adulterate it with any Soda or other foreign substance. The 'Correct' making of Old Fashioned have been passed down from father to son in my family for three plus generations so doing it right is an art form not to be abused. Great option if you're seeking a classy bar to grab an exceptional cocktail. It's an upscale living room-esque lounge but you don't have to be in a dress or tie to hang which is nice! Service was very attentive and kept up with all of our drink orders despite our group being quite big and a bit rowdy. My gf got a smoked Manhattan and I found it entertaining seeing them torch the wooden board and capture the smoke with the glass. Guys - it's the Ritz. It's fancy AF. And it's romantic, sophisticated and super classy. Lots of sofas for lounging, and there's a roaring fireplace to make the place feel like a really cozy living room. They serve you spicy nuts. Spicy nuts! Service is fab, and I always feel like a VIP. Really nice wine list, craft cocktails and tasty treats. It's quiet, too, which makes it a great spot for a meeting or to catch up with friends when you want to talk without too much distraction. I stopped by Quadrant for a drink with a friend on a snowy Friday night. The cocktail menu is divided into different sections that correspond with metro lines. I had the Toasty Professor, a bourbon-based drink with amaretto, hazelnut, egg white and cinnamon, from the Silver Line menu. At $17 dollars this drink was not cheap. Our bartender was very attentive and knew a lot about the whiskeys featured on the Red Line section of the menu. The space itself was interesting - surprisingly sleek and well-lit for a lounge. The bar is huge with plenty of quiet corners that give it a more intimate vibe. I really enjoyed flipping through the drink menu and reading interesting facts about U.S. presidents. It was a great conversation starter. Overall, I had a very nice time. Though $17/drink is pretty steep. There are a lot of other good options just a short cab ride away offering similar experiences. That said, hotel guests and people looking for a classy bar in West End should give Quadrant a try! read more

Came here on the recommendation of a friend that they have one of the best Old Fashioned's that he's come across. It's a heavily smoked version that comes served with a little pyrotechnic show. This drink isn't all smoke and mirrors though, it's a well balanced cocktail that doesn't hide the alcohol but instead showcases it with a depth of flavor. The ambiance and the service of this place is great as well. This was definitely a recommendation that held up to the high praise. If you fancy an Old Fashioned and you're in DC this is one worth seeking out. read more

I wanted to like this place... I came here for a night of unique cocktails and a bite to eat and was pretty disappointed. The 3 stars is because it's visually appealing and the band was quite good. Unfortunately, the rest was not worth returning for. I ordered 2 different drinks that I had to send back before I could find one I could drink. The problem is, we are paying for uniquely made cocktails and this place has so much of their cocktail base premixed so it's really hard to customize things. I do not prefer my drinks to be super sweet so I would typically ask the bartender to go less sweet meaning if they use sprite, you club soda instead or if they use a simple syrup maybe use half of the recipe amount and so on. This place could not accommodate because too much is pre-made per the bartender. So I ordered a drink that said it would be Smoky thinking that would be safe, it tasted like a can of lighter fluid, it was disgusting. Ultimately, if I'm paying you $16 to make me a drink, I want you to actually be able to make the drink customized if needed. The other thing was the food. We ordered the Lamb Chops and Sea Scallops. The items are all served like appetizers (no sides). The Lamb Chops where properly prepared temperature and seasoning, though the Scallops tasted fishy like they had been left out too long before being cooked. Ultimately, If I wanted to have maybe just a glass of wine and listen to good music, I might return but to call this place a cocktail bar is a stretch. read more

I'm generally not one to right reviews, but my experience at Quadrant was so abysmal and humiliating that I feel the need to warn others. The establishment itself is quite nice, but the Quadrant bartenders DO NOT know how to handle a rush. I visited with a large group who took most of the seats at the bar during the Texans vs Jets game. The bartenders were rude and likely profiled me based on being younger than their typical demographic, something that's extremely frustrating when the cost of a beer is $12. In celebration of the game, at the conclusion I celebrated by banging my hand on the bar two or three times (Let it be known that this couldn't have been heard further than three or four feet away). Under pressure, the bartender approached me telling me that was not the way to get his attention, to his surprise I explained to him that I didn't want a drink, I was merely celebrating the victory. Instead of apologizing for the mistake, he felt the need to justify his actions further and asked me to step away from the bar. Not wanting to cause a scene, I obliged and took a seat at a table away from the bar. Maybe fifteen minutes went by and I heard him loudly explaining to my party that was still at the bar the he would be calling security to have me removed. This came as a surprise as his only demand was for me to step back from the bar. Upon hearing this, I was utterly embarrassed in front of my group, I asked him why his knee jerk reaction was to call security instead of simply asking me to leave, to which he had no response. I quietly left my group at the bar and returned to my room. I wouldn't recommend this place unless you are the uppity demographic that they so obviously cater to. I think what happened here was the bartenders were stressed out, didn't know how to handle a rush, and cracked under the pressure. Certainly not worth the money and embarrassment. Stay far away. read more
